i have tyied it many time and also changed the usb port...
after downlaoding update for ios 5 it give me this msg:
err= .3259
there was a problem downloading the software for the iphone "ojas". the network connection timed out
make sure your network setings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later
pls help me. i have already formated my iphone also but again n again this problem. musing window XP and itune is 10.5

I am having the same issue. I have twice tried to download and install the iPhone 3.1.3 operating system for my 3G iPhone. The progress bar gets to 228.0 out of 228.1 MB downloaded, then it stops and says that my network connection has timed out. My DSL connection is working fine. I am on a Windows XP machine and have iTunes 9.0.0.70.

I have updated itunes prior to updating the phone
my home pc is a fixed line adsl 2+ connection
each time the entire update file finishes downloading and when it says' processing file' i get the error message
please help if you can. i've never had a problem updating my iphone before. This is the first software update on my iphone 4. i previously had an iphone 3.

My husband and I both have an iphone 4, but we have different sides of the computer... I downloaded the ios5 software just fine on my side yesterday (except it took 6 hours), but I am now trying to download it on my husband's side and keep getting the error code 9006... The first time I tried, it had like 6 minutes remaining on the software, so imagine my irritation after waiting almost 2 hours - the second time, it was still more than an hour remaining... How do I fix the problem as this is taking a lot of time... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Any Ideas of how to solve this one?

After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end. Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually,and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.

I am experiencing the exact same issue during the installtion process for iTunes 10.5.
I uninstalled all Apple components but when I attempted to uninstall the Apple Software Update I received the same message: "Fatal error during installtion." I was able to repair the Apple Software Update but still could not install iTunes 10.5 afterwards.

Preparing iPhone for software update???

I just updated iTunes and tried syncing my iPhone. I then downloaded the new iPhone software update and it went to "preparing iPhone for software update." It's been like this for an hour now, and I can't do anything. I can't even close iTunes. Has this happened to anyone? How long did it take your phone to prepare for "software update"? What should I do? Help....

Spent 93 minutes on the phone with support. Could not solve the problem of getting out of the restore loop. As a last resort they said to use another computer to restore the iPhone. Went to my iMac and it worked, but back on my G4 I still can't sync to iTunes, Doesn't even open up when I plug in the phone!
And all my data was lost during the restore. Lot of people out there with this problem!!! hope theyn come up with a fix soon,

Plug your device into the original charger & block in a wall outlet and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, restart it by holding down the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple, then let go.

When I try to install the Software Updater for the first time to update my Nokia 6500c phone, I receive the following error message about 57% during the install process. I checked my permission keys in the registry, and they seem to have all the correct Admin permission.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
It looks like you do not have access to the registry key mentioned i.e. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\Optional Components\IMAIL.
This might be due to the fact that you may not be added to the Administrators group or the registry key has been denied access explicitly to a group that you may be part of.
People in my network setup were facing the same issue, and we fixed the same using Microsoft's "subinacl" tool. You can follow the below mentioned steps to rectify your issue as well:
1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> Run and type "cmd" and click OK)
4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
ii. subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opti onalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
You should see some processes happening on your screen. After the process ends, retry the update operation you were originally trying to perform. Hopefully, it should succeed now.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

I plugged in my iPhone 4 to do a sync this afternoon. I got the message that there was a software update. Sadly, I've updated to the crappy iOS7, so I chose to install the update (which I think is 7.0.2.) The update was downloaded, and was loading to my iPhone. I suddenly received an error that my iPhone couldn't update. I think it had an error code of 411. My iTunes refreshed, and is now not showing that it recognized my phone. Now the only thing I can get to show up on my screen is a graphic of the iTunes icon, and an arrow directing me to plug in my phone. When I do this, a message appears that iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and that I must restore this phone before it can be used with iTunes. I don't want to perform a restore. I will lose all my data. So, why did this error? How can I fix my iPhone without doing a restore?
