IPhone iPod "Artist" Crash

So, I'm having this really weird problem where I uploaded new songs to my iPod and when I went to listen to them, whenever I click on the "Artists" tab on the phone, or even when I try to click the "Back" buttons to go back to the artists page, the app crashes. It even crashes when I try to go to landscape mode to access the artists. It's really bothering me as everything else on the iPod works well. All the other tabs and it even plays the music well. What should I do?!

However, I have proper album art set for everything in my iTunes Library. What I don't want is some horrible software design decision ruining the experience of browsing & listening to my music.
Going to file this as a bug report. Not sure what on Earth the team was thinking with this "feature."
The worst part is, when instead of an artist photo, it pulls down a random cover of one of the artist's albums and uses that! This one album by this one artist that I have on my iPhone, since it does not have an artist photo, uses cover artwork from an entirely different album than what is loaded.

Iphone Ipod is crashing and it wont come up in ITunes! Help!

I have a 16G 3Gs and yesterday, I was using my phone on a bose dock and suddenly the iPod started crashing. I can bring up itunes and it seems to respond for 3-5 seconds and then just closes out to the main screen.
Everything else seems to be working fine, the phone doesnt lock up or anything. I tried doing a hard reset to no avail. I had it plugged into a usb connection on my car stereo and it would play pandora music but my stereo never fully recognized the phone. I just kept saying "Reading..." the entire time, never got an error.
Now that im home, I plugged it into my computer to restore my phone and ITunes doesnt see it, though the computer recognizes it. Any suggestions?
My info: 3Gs 16gig, iOS 4, Windows 7, Itunes 9.2.0.61

I have the same problem. After reseting my ipod classic 80 GB I have a screen telling me to use the restore function. I have the latest iTunes version, I did restore but when the iPod restart I get the message "your iPod is corrupt, use restore function". I tried to restore again but the same message appear
I don't know what to do. Please help !!

IPhone iPod "Artist" Menu Selection - Album Artwork

How come in the new iPod on the iPhone when I am inside the "Artist" listing for my music, it shows completely random artwork from previous/newer albums of artists I have? This was never a problem before, but its ridiculous to have different album artwork for an artist when you don't even have the album that the artwork it is showing. Apple, fix this...

ITunes on iphone/ipod -- Artists no longer in Alphabetical Order(!)

I recently updated my itunes library on both my iphone and my ipad. I used seperate itunes libraries (hosted on the same Windows computer) in order to have a larger "master" library on my ipad since it has more memory. I did this via using the "depress the shift key while starting itunes" trick to select the library for each device. That all seems to have worked just fine - I got the library I wanted synced with each device.
Unfortunately, the alphabetical order of the Artists is only "mostly" correct. As an example, under J, I see:
Howlin' Wolf
Humble Pie
David Bromberg
J.J. Cale
James Brown
and the rest of the J's. Likewise, when I look at the K's, it starts off with J's and a few other seemingly random artists, before getting into the Ks.
How do I get the system to re-alphabetize my library???

IPhone iPod crashes

Two weeks ago I downloaded a ringtone app that probably caused my iPhone iPod to Crash. I deleted the app and rebooted the iPhone but this didn't work. I had to do a restore from a backup.
Now with the 3.1.3 update same story again? Doing the restore once more but its a pain, why?

I am experiencing this same problem. I had trouble loading an audio book on last night, which i cancelled mid way through
Today i get through one maybe two songs and the audio stops. I restart and the ipod bombs out part way through the first track
Rebooting didn't fix

When I add artists to my ipod/iphone the artist name displays twice

When I go to add artists as a group to my ipod nano or iphone 4, the artist name comes up twice spelt differently. eg I see, "Black Eyed Peas" and "The Black Eyed Peas" from the Artist check list. Please note these songs are not on my iphone/ipod yet, this is me merely looking to select and add them to my iphone/ipod. Some of the songs I have by The Black Eyed Peas are from different albums but I have ensured they are all sorted by "The Black Eyed Peas" under "Get Info". I've also set the tracks to be 1 of 14 for one album and 1 of 1 for the songs that I got from compilation CD's.
I've found multiple help pages but none of them fixed the issue I am having. I am using iTunes 12.0.1.26 for windows 7. Can anyone fix this? It's itunes that's the issue it's not the device I am tying to sync it to.

The same thing happened to me when I updated to the new software when iPhone 4S came out.

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall for the network problem.
Also for the original problem try the following if Ana's suggestions does not work
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Is there a way to transfer my iphone/ipod music to my itunes music library?

my 1st generation iphone was synced with my laptop. then my hard drive crashed. so now i have a new hard drive. in order to sync my iphone with this one, it says it will erase all my music. what can i do? i heard about the software senuti, but i cannot get it to work, and i am worried that if it unlocks my iphone, it may render it useless, or something worse. what can i do? can anybody help? apple tells me i cannot transfer the songs from my iphone/ipod into my itunes music library because some of them were not purchased from itunes. i understand business. it's about money and copyright rights, etc...yada, yada, yada. i just hate to lose my songs (625 of them). i have no backup for the songs. i learned a lesson. BACKUP your stuff!

iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store ONLY.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
Any content not purchased from the iTunes Store will be lost, which is why maintaining a backup of your iTunes library along with all other important data stored on an external drive used for backup purposes only is so important. The iPhone is not designed nor intended to be a backup device.
If your iTunes content that was not purchased from the iTunes Store was imported into your iTunes library from music CDs, dust them off and start importing them back into your iTunes library.
Using a 3rd party utility or application that provides for this but is not supported by Apple is your only other option.

IPod Nano crashes iTunes

Hi, every time we time we connect my daughter's 4th generation iPod Nano it crashes iTunes. The iPod is just a year old. It has worked fine until a week ago. iTunes runs fine on its own.
We also sync an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and the new Nano. We do not have a problem with these.
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing the problem with the 4th Gen Nano?

I am really upset. I have an ipod classic 2 years old. I plugged in my ipod into the computer to create a new playlist. I started adding music to my list and after a few minutes and then itunes crashed. I closed the program and tried again. started ok then crashed again. I tried to close the program and it finally closed and totally erased my ipod 10,600+ songs GONE! Now most of those songs cannot be easily replaced. I am a music teacher and use it everyday to do my job. Now I am stuck redoing it. After restoring the original settings and a disk check, my ipod still crashes itunes. Even before it did this. I would randomly get songs that just would not play that would before. What do I do now. I am really mad!

IPhone 3GS Camera Crashes iOS 4.3 When Device Used In Cold Weather

I was in Chicago today where the weather was in the low 40's (high 20s with the windchill). As I was sightseeing and using my iPhone to shoot casual snapshots, the OS completely crashed when I was trying to take the picture. My iPhone has never crashed for any reason, but I shrugged it off and then restarted the device. I took two more pictures, and then the phone again crashed on the third picture. After another restart, the phone started crashing every time I took a picture without exception.
Fearing the worst that my phone was about to die on me while on a business trip, I headed back to the car and headed for the hotel. As I was driving back, I got to thinking that my phone has never been in weather this cold before (I'm from California). As soon as I got to my room, I put the camera beneath the heating vent and allowed it to warm up. Once it felt like it was room temperature, I picked it up and started shooting pictures to see if I could get it to crash again. After forty pictures, it was still working.
Are there any known issues with the camera sensor on the iPhone 3GS in cold weather? Another poster from Eastern Europe seems to be having the same problem with the same model phone:

The official way to do it is to restore the iTunes library that was on your old computer to your new computer using the backup of your whole system you regularly update. Then you are syncing the phone with the same old library.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

Question about iPhone/iPod and playing songs

Hi all,
This is my first question here, so please be patient with me if I'm rambling, or this is posted in the wrong forum.
I've recently downloaded a language learning course and want to put it on my iPhone so I can learn Italian as I'm on the bus. While it's great having this course at my fingertips, I want to keep these particular audio files from playing when I'm listening to music on the iPod.
So my question(s) is this..is it possible to somehow ADD files to the iPhone (iPod) while excluding them from the general iPod playlist? I don't want to have to skip over these files each time I'm listening to music, but I still want to keep the files on the iPhone(iPod). If it is possible, how would I go about it?

There's a work around by using playlists in computer's iTunes.
In iTunes, create one playlist with all the songs you want on the iPhone.
Create another with your language courses.
Sync with the selected playlists in iTunes when connected to the iPhone.
(With iPhone connected and selected in iTunes, in Music tab select Sync Music, Selected playlists, artists, ... and checked the two playlists mentioned above. Click Sync button.)
Now on iPhone you can choose music or language course playlist without interferences.

IPhone 4 intermittent crashes - Facebook app issue?

My iPhone 4 rarely crashed before Sunday. The only thing that changed was I installed the latest Facebook app (with the Places feature). Since then, the phone will intermittently crash at random. I've noticed it crashes while in Messages, Mail, and iPod. When it crashes, it returns to the homescreen and I'm able to re-launch apps as normal.
I notice this mostly in iPod, which I use a lot. While playing mid-song, iPod will crash. When I re-launch iPod, it will have returned to the beginning of the song that just crashed. At times it will crash in Messages while I'm composing a text. When I relaunch Messages, it returns me to the message stream I was in, but everything I have typed just before it crashed is lost.
Strangely, it hasn't crashed on me while in the Facebook app. Not sure if the app has anything to do with this?
After the crashing started, I upgraded to the latest version of iOS4, which I hadn't done yet. Didn't help. Have also tried numerous restarts, both hard and "soft."
Any ideas? Makes using the phone a painful process. Before the iPhone 4, I had an original iPhone that never had crashing problems like this.

The apps on my iPhone 4 have been crashing, as well. Tried all the restarts and reboots and nothing seems to help. The Best Buy app is what seems to crash on me a lot as well as games my son plays. Safari also crashes when scrolling down through long pages. Never had a problem before with iphone software. What was originally a minor annoyance is turning into an aggravating experience.

IOS7: iPod app crashes and songs disappear!

It happened first as soon as I updated to iOS7. The iPod app crashed, and then I had no songs left, everything just went away.
I downloaded it back from iTunes Match, and a few days later it just happened again! All my songs were just wiped out after a crash of the iPod app!
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I'm using an iPhone 4 32GB.
