Iphone is disabled, new sim card not helping
i am no longer using my 3gs, but i am giving it to my sister to use as a toy (not for calls/internet). my friends locked me out of it, and it was disabled, the apple repair guy said all i needed was a new sim card, but now that i have it the screen says: iphone is disabled, connect to itunes. i am trying to connect, but itunes is saying 'this iphone has a password, enter password before you can connect' BUT IT WONT LET ME CONNECT. help meeee
Place the phone in DFU mode (search this forum for how to do that) and restore as NEW.

Are you using a Mac? It sounds like you are using his computer to sync to. If this is the case, then it will sync to all of his stuff unless a new user is created with your personal stuff on it.
When you want to sync your iPhone to that computer, switch to your user first, and then everything will sync with your stuff. If he wants to hook up his iPhone to sync it, then he needs to switch back to his own username first. -
My iphone has a new SIM card and can see the phone in itunes but it won't sync and no tabs to choose sync options. Any suggestions?
The SIM card has nothing to do with this.
Your iPhone is recognized by iTunes - it is available under Devices in the iTunes source list, but when you select your iPhone under Devices, the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes are not available in the main iTunes window?
Or your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes when connected to your computer? -
I can't activate my iPhone with my new SIM card
I got a new SIM card and wanted to activate my iPhone, but it says that the activationcentre is currently not avaible. I don't have a SIM lock and I already entred my PW and the PIN, but still it keeps saying it since days. I also tried to activate it with iTUnes at my PC, but it's not working. Can anyone pls help me? Thank you

3GS iOS4.1 new sim card not supported
Hi guys, I own a PAYG iPhone that was bought direct from apple. I have been using it on O2 for the last year but I have just signed up for a Vodafone contract. I received my new sim card and put it in, it now goes to the emergancy calls pages and itunes says that the sim card is not supported.
The phone has never been jailbroken or anything in anyway. I have tried restoring the phone and this has made no difference.
Tried the sim in another phone and it worked fine.
Any ideas?Doesn't sound like it.
I would contact O2 to determine if your pay-as-you-go iPhone that was used with O2 over the last year is carrier locked with O2. If the iPhone is carrier locked with O2, it will be up to O2 to unlock the iPhone.
If you specially requested an unlocked iPhone when purchased from the Apple store which is the most expensive, you need to contact the Apple store. -

Hi, I've got a new SIM card after loosing a previous phone. I've put it into another handset, one I used a few years ago. I'm trying to login and putting in my Blackberry ID Username, and then my password, but it's telling me it's wrong. I then went online and tried it and I'm signing in no problem. I then changed my password and tried again but no luck! Can you help me? Thanks

You need to perform a security wipe on the device first before you can login with a new BlackBerry ID credentials. Please see: How to delete all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone using the Security Wipe optio...

I have an old iPhone 3S, that was used with Bell. My friend lost her phone and I lend her this one, which she unlock to use with Rogers. I got it back and want to use as an iPod not the phone, but when I connected to iTunes I am getting this message: "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please diconnect and insert a SIM card".
I went to Bell and Rogers where we tried inserting active cards but message never changed.
On the phone itself I am able to get wifi but finish with "Your phone could not be activated because the activation server is temporary anavailable."
I run diagnostic from iTunes:everything is working properly, only message out of normal is "iTunes is not running in safe mode"
How can I sinc this phone with iTunes, so I can use it to lisen to music?
Any help will be apriacietedI can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". Problem is my phone was given to me by a friend of mom's and he just gave me the phone I had to buy a new sim card. It has been working all right until now. Should I go buy a new sim card? Help!
Your phone is locked to a carrier. Only a SIM from that carrier can be used to activate the phone. Ask the "friend of your mom's" to which carrier the phone is locked. You'll then need to contact that carrier and see if you are eligible to have the phone unlocked. If not, the phone is useless to you.

After updating my iphone 4 to iOS 5, it refused to read my att SIM Card. I went to the Apple store (Lennox Mall, Atlanta Georgia) for help, they told me that it was an Att problem, and needed me to get a brand new Sim Card from Att. I went to Att and replaced my SIM Card to a new one. I later returned to the Apple store, but the phone still didn't work. The apple techs blamed the att network, and stated I needed to go home and wait for 24-48 hrs, and retry the att network again, and hopefully the phone will work. The next option they gave me was to pay $200.00 to get a replacement because my phone was out of warranty.
So I basically I have a phone which has never been dropped, not abused, no water damage or what so ever. Prior to my IOS 5 update, it worked perfectly without any problems. Now, that its not working as a result of either Apple's or Att's fault, no one seems to be helping or standing behing their product. Both parties are blaming each other for the problem. Can someone help??I've seen a number of reports of this on here. In most cases where people took their phones in to the Apple store, they were given a replacement, even if the phone was out of warranty.

Help! - iPhone 2g will not activate with new sim card
I have been given an iPhone 2g for my son. Have activated a new sim card as 02 said this was the reason I could not activate on iTunes. Still cannot get the phone activated. I have reset all settings so am now lost as to what to do next!
I have tried that but the phone is not being recognised when I connect it to iTunes. I keep getting a message on the phone saying "new sim detected - please connect to iTunes". When I connect to iTunes I get the message "unable to activate - please try later - disconnect the phone" - very, very, frustrating. Didn't have any problems at all when my older son took over my iPhone 3G and put a 3 sim in it (after being unlocked).

" fault code,,,,,waiting for activation, this may take some time,,,,," O2 gave my gf the contract and the new sim card to go into my old iphone 3g which was with O2 previous, O2 have assured us that the phone's imei number is not blocked, they have also said the sim is activated and there is no reason why the phone should not work. the phone is out of date warranty. the sim card does work in other handsets, also my sim from my iphone 3gs does not work in the iphone 3g. i have spent hours litterally on the phone to O2 and now to apple, but because i am out of warranty apple want £25 just to even listen to me over the phone. someone please help me. i am getting very frustrated for hopefully what might be an easy fix for someone. i have done all the resets that are possibly humainly possible, i have done all the resores you can do, have sync'd on many occasions all to come up with the same fault. i am still getting O2 in the top left corner but with no bars and when trying to call it fails imediately. wifi is fine, it works as an ipod.
ONLY AT&T can legally/legitimately unlock it. No one else at all.

Try popping out the SIM card and turn off the phone.
Pop in the SIM card once again and turn on the phone, make sure that the SIM card is placed and seated perfectly in the tray!

well I restored my iPhone and I try to activate it just with my iPhone and it said your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temorarily unavailable. So I tried doing it on iTunes and it said SIM card not installed help me please.

iphone 4s not recognising new sim card keeps saying sim not valid. Can anyone advise me please?
There are three possibilities:
1. Your phone is locked to a different carrier and will not work with any SIM card except those from that carrier.
2. Your new card is from a carrier not supported by the iPhone.
3. Your new SIM card is defective.
In order to determine which is the right answer you could try a different sim from the same carrier or try your new card on a different iPhone. Also check to make sure your new carrier is a supported carrier.
