Iphone is frozen and itunes will not recognize the iphone for a restore
my facebook app was giving me problems while trying to update my status, so I decided to delete the app and try to re-install it. after deleting the app, the phone froze. I decided to do a soft reset, and the phone will initially boot up only to the apple image on the screen and them immediately shut back off. I've tried to do multiple other soft restarts, but it won't get past the apple logo on the screen before shutting completely off again.
the phone is out of warranty and I was told by the support line that I need to do a backup restore, but now my itunes won't even recognize the iphone to give me the option to do a restore from backup.
I have an iphone with 3.1.3 and Windows Vista.

Unfortunately it never gave me the option to restore from backup. only to do a complete restore to factory. I reconnected the phone to the computer and in the process of doing another restore. this time it actually showed the progress on the iphone screen as opposed to the first run only showing the apple logo on the screen. Phone was not updated on time so it automatically shuts off and you get a plain black screen until it is recovered and updated. Well when i did the update and recovery I received an error. I went through the steps to fix the error, I had to restart my computer and now the phone isnt recognized on my computer or in itunes. The screen is still completely black so pushing the home button and plugging in to computer still does nothing. Device manager shows nothing in usb port, and apple mobile device software is installed and running. Any help?

Just downloaded 7.2 into my Iphone 5 what a mess. Dropped called no audible notifications for email or text messages. Went to the apple store and reset phone to original specs. Now trying to restore apps and music and itunes will not recognize the phone. I have gone thur the steps for windows 7 and still nothing??? I have downloaded the newest version I itunes too.

I've done all of these, even trying a different USB port, and still, nothing. This is really confusing. Windows 8.1 said something to do with USB malfunction or something and nothing works. I need to restore my iPhone quickly and nothing has happened. My cable is not genuine Apple product. iTunes makes the noise that it makes when I connect the device, but it doesn't say 'iPhone is in recovery mode' or even say 'iPhone' in the corner. I am really fed up and would really appreciate a response.

I have a shuffle. When I plug it into Itunes, it tells me that it has not been ejected properly, and it will not recognize the Ipod. I have turned off the computer, and tried this with another shuffle with the exact same results. Any ideas?
Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?
Try manually placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then try to restore
Next try DFU mode.

iTunes will not recognize my iPhone 5s. I need it to, so I can choose the sync via WIFI. Plus, I am unable to download iTunes by just using WIFI and my iPhone 5s. I checked the Computer Manager areas and the settings appear correct. My laptop runs on Windows 8.1.
Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

earlier my itunes told me that my files were corrupted and I needed to restore, so I did. In the middle of the restore I lost internet connection. Now my computer and Itunes will not recognize my Ipod and if it is not plugged in when I turn the Ipod on it only shows the apple logo then shuts off after 30 seconds. If it is plugged in it will charge, but Itunes and Windows will not recognize it. I have tried the menu + select shutoff multiple times with no change. All it will say while it is charging is do not disconnect.
The clicking sound is your iPod Hardisk, trying to retract and find the boot sector unsuccesfully.
Hopefully, you can do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as in this great post by tt2., it wont fix your problem, but let you know, how dire is your Hardisk health.
So only as a last resort, one way, to get the stuck Hardisk head free, is to bang the iPod on a rubber mouse pad, when you reset it, but do it at your own risk, some very lucky guys got it working again for the next 14 months, like myself. -
