when setting up a new contact, iphone is no longer a label option. any idea how to get it back?

Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.

Were you syncing over USB? If so, and you upgraded to Mavericks, you will have to switch your calendar to iCloud or another cloud-based option.
Syncing over USB is no longer an option in Mavericks.

My iPhone 5 skips setting up WiFi when setting up from new. I restored my iPhone because since I have owned it WiFi has not worked so I decided to do a restore to get it to go through the setup process but it skips it. Does this mean that the WiFi chip is faulty?

Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, see how to resolve those Wi-Fi issues.

Set up the new phone as a new iPhone (without using your backup), then update it to the latest iOS (7.1.2). Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. Its seems that for many people, this feature was not enabled automatically, instead it is set on a different setting of 'show my homepage' or 'show a blank page'. But it is very easy to change, I just did it myself! Here is how to do it:

Are you sure it doesn't have iOS 7 installed? It sounds like Activation Lock is on and if that is the case, when you do Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content & Settings, you need to enter the password for the Apple ID.

You're using Exchange Active Sync to synchronize contacts and calendars with your company Exchange Server. If the default calendar/address books are set to the Exchange account, it will sync automatically. This is normal.
Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars to change the default address book and calendars to a something else, iCloud or something synced from your home computer instead.

When i upgraded from LION to MOUNTAIN LION it made NO difference at all to my MyBook Live !!!
reading the original post again and again, do you in fact have two My Book Live units, an old one and a new one ?

These are a couple different issues
The purchase issue means they came from a different Apple ID
      You will need that Apple ID and password for those purchases
The iCloud account can be an Find My iPhone issue.
       That could be the same Apple ID as the purchased or yet another one.
              Once again you will need that Apple ID and password.

You have to erase the phone an go back through the setup again. Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. Then go back through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below). Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

Plug it into your computer. Tell it to sync with "this computer" instead of iCloud. You shouldn't have to remove any apps. Otherwise, you can save the app data by using i-FunBox ( http://www.i-funbox.com/ ) just go to the "devices" tab and select 'user applications' and select all of your apps and tell iFunBox to "copy to pc" you're done! You have them all backed up.
