IPhone is not seen by iTunes

I have a brand new iPhone and it has only been recognized once by iTunes and that was after a complete uninstall re-install of iTunes and connecting and re-connecting multiple times.
iTunes sees the device every time I put the iPhone in recovery mode but after the recovery is complete and the iPhone reboots it is no longer recognized again by iTunes.
I have followed all the troubleshooting steps available on the Apple website with no luck.

Okay, here is what worked for me and still no full reason why from either my IT group at work or from tech support at Apple.
1.  Connected to my work network.  (works)  Itunes launches in 30 seconds and recognizes the iPhone immediately.
2.  Connected to my home network when logged in remotely to my work account via VPN.  (works) same as above.
3.  Completely disconnected from home or work network.  Shut off all wired and wireless connections. (works) same as above.
Connected on home network alone. (Does NOT work)  iTunes takes 3 to 4 minutes to launch and it NEVER sees the iPhone.  If I connect the iPhone as in #3 above, I can then launch the wireless network and it will stay connected.  Something is interfering when I use this last method, but no one is able to fully explain why.  The comment about disabling the anti-virus software gave me the idea, but we aren't allowed to disable the software on our work PC.
The work arounds above are acceptable to me right now, but still no explanation.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. And then reboot your computer.
See if that fixes your problem.

  • Playlist on iPhone but not seen with iTunes

I have a playlist on my iPhone named On-The-Go. When I connect to iTunes it not there. If I put songs in the playlist with the iPhone they disappear after syncing with iTunes. If I add a playlist On-The-Go in iTunes I get two playlist with the same name on the iPhone. Can someone tell me how to just have one On-The-Go playlist?
    Thanks
    W

You probably should buy an Apple computer.
When you make on On-The-Go playlist you can use it, add songs to it, clear it, etc. If you do a second On-The-Go playlist it will be On-The-Go1, then 2, etc. When you connect these to your computer they should transfer to iTunes. In iTunes you can add songs to them, delete them, edit them, change the name of them, sync them back to your iPhone with the new name, etc.

  • My iphone4 is not seen on itunes. When I plug the iphone the device does not recognize it but the pc recognizes it as a camera or something. What can I do?

My Iphone is not seen on itunes when I plug it. I've tried everything that I found on the internet. but it still doesn't work, so I can't sync my iphone. What can I do? I have checked all the USB ports, I have desinstalled and installed again itunes, and I have run out of ideas.

When you plug it it, it should recognize it as an Apple IPHONE under devices. It will then bring the Camera/Connection wizard for the photos on the device. When you plug into different USB, it should bring the hardware wizard and tell you what its installing, what happens?
Under Device Manager, under Imaging Devices it will show up as Apple IPHONE. Is this being shown in your computer?

    Jahnavi,
two things to be looked upon in this case. First thing is about the battery. Once the battery has enough charge in it we can try a force restore on the phone to re-install the iOS.
    > Try a hard reset of the phone (Press and hold the HOME button and the Sleep/Wake button until the phone restarts and comes up with Apple logo). After trying this step, try charging the phone and see if the battery holds the charge.
    > Once battery has enough charge in it then we can force it to DFO mode and perform restore. For restore refer to this link.

  • IPhone 4S not seen by Win 7 PC

HI we have an iPhone 4s and we are trying to move the pictures to our PC running Win 7. All of our other iPod and IPod Touch devices come up fine and are seen by the PC as a portable device and also appear in iTunes. The iPhone 4S does not, it will charge but no USB storage connection and it does not appear in iTunes. I have looked in Device Manager and there are no references to any Apple Device under any item (USB controllers, Portable Devices etc). Apple Mobile Device Services are set to automatic, and are started. Everything looks like it should ecxept this iPhone is not seen as a USB device when connected. At a loss here and looking for suggestions. I have searched numerous forums but none work or even seem to go to the issue here which is that this iPhone does not connect via USB to a PC (I tried 2 different PCs with the same result) other than to charge. I have also changed the USB cables to no effect.
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers

  • What is the iPhone "Other" capacity seen in iTunes?

What is the iPhone “Other” capacity seen in iTunes?

Other includes data such as iPhone settings, contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cache/cookies, email and email attachments, SMS/MMS/iMessages, notes, app data, Safari cache, cookies and bookmarks, stored passwords, search index, home screen organization, wi-fi network data, etc.  It should generally be about 1GB.  If it's significantly larger than this it contains something corrupt; restoring the phone should resolve this.

  • Iphone will not synch with itunes after downloading most recent itunes version

I updated to most recent version of itunes and since then my 3GS iphone will not synch with itunes. the phone is recognized by my windows computer but not recognized within itunes. I redownloaded itunes and Q but nothing.  Can anyone help?

I have a Dell XPS 8500 with a 64bit i5 Processor and an Apple 4s and I have the same problem.  I have been searching for days and can only get the phone recoginzed by disabling power to USB ports and there is no way I can get ITunes to show devices, so I can't see the IPhone.  People say Apple monitors these sites but I haven't seen any response from a technical person. Have you?  My hunch is they know about the problem but don't have a fix, and have other priorities for their team. If my hunch is correct, its quite extraordinay because I am close to selling my 4s and getting some phone which is easier to work with. Time is my scarcest resource and I have devoted way too much of it to this issue.

It looks like you should take a look at this Apple document now -> iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues

  • Iphone 4 not syncing to itunes

My iphone 4 will not sync to itunes. itunes recognizes it but when i sync, it will say that the syncing failed to start. Any advice?

I am having a problem with my iPhone 4 not syncing to iTunes in Win 7. It says "cannot read contents of iPhone, please click on restore to reset the iPhone to original factory setting."
I have tried many possible solutions but still the problem persists.
    Including
    1.  Reinstalling iTunes
    2.  Power cycling my iPhone
    3.  Disengaging the iPhone automatic synchronization in iTunes
    4.  Deleting all previous iPhone sync backups
    5.  "Resetting the sync backups"
    6.  "Resetting the network settings" on my iPhone
    FYI
    1.  Ironically, I am able to copy my pictures and videos from the iPhone using Windows Explorer.
    2.  All of the music was strangly deleted from my iPhone
    3.  The problem appears to have coincided when I installed iTunes 10 on August 31st.
    4.  At the time of that the problem surfaced, I had used almost all of the 32 GB of memory on my iPhone and was not able to take iPhone videos because of an error message that my "memory was full" [I have since deleted 5 GB of Apps from my iPhone and it currently says I have 4.5 GB of free space when it is shown in Windows Explorer].
    5.  The Hotspot feature on my iPhone abruptly stopped working around the same time that the problem surfaced. When I was last able to use the Hotspot feature, my iPhone indicated that there were actually 2 devices connected to my iPhone 4 Hotspot. But I have never given out my password, so possibly my iPhone was accessed by an unauthorized user.
How do I fix this "will not read contents of the iPhone issue?

  • IPhone 5 not recognized by iTunes 12

    Hello all,
I have an iPhone 5, I'm running iTunes 12.0.1.26 and Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1). Over the last few days, I've noticed that my iPhone is not recognized by iTunes or even Yosemite itself. I have already tried everything in this doc: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X - Apple Support, to no avail. I've been combing the communities and Google to no avail. Does this mean I need to try a manual restore on the phone? Any other solutions?
    Thanks
