Iphone isync iproblem

hi,
just got my iphone... all is well but it wont sync my address book, ical, bookmarks and mail. i have tried re-installing tiger but i still seem to have a problem with isync.
when i tried to open it to reset the preferences and to enable sync it bounces around in my dock but doesn't open and i have to reset my mbp to getany other applications working.
can some one tell me how to remove isync and get a new clean copy?

You cannot sync an iPhone via Bluetooth, only via cable. So if you want to sync you will need to remember to have the USB cable with you at all times. They're quite cheap so you could always buy a second one to leave in your laptop bag.

  • Trying to use iSync with new iPhone using Mac OSX 10.4.11

Is this operating system to old for iSync to work?? Followed the instructions for connecting iPhone / iMac and nothing happens in iTunes.

iSync has nothing to do with syncing the iPhone. iSync is only for non-Apple mobile devices.
The minimum Mac system requirements for the iPhone are:
    • Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
    • Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later
    • iTunes 8.2 or later

  • Upload contact from Nokia to Iphone 3GS

How can I upload contact from Nokia to Iphone 3GS?

Or if your Nokia supports syncing contacts via bluetooth with an address book application on your computer that is supported for syncing contacts with the iPhone - iSync on a Mac provides for this - syncing contacts with the Address Book on a Mac with a number of cell phones this is supported with. Follow this by syncing your iPhone with the address book on your computer via the iTunes sync process.
With Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book application used by Outlook Express or by Windows Mail called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.

  • CANNOT SYNC IPHONE

When I try to sync my Iphone with Itunes, it just shuts down with the error ''Itunes has stopped working'' . My laptop is windows vista and has not synced any iphone before this so dont really know what to do. Any suggestions ?

You don't use iSync to sync the iPhone. iSync is only for syncing non-Apple mobile phones.
You also cannot sync the iPhone via Bluetooth - you must sync the iPhone using iTunes via a USB cable, or over-the-air via MobileMe.
All the information for how to sync the iPhone is in the manual:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iphoneuserguide.pdf

  • Palm V & iPhone/Blackberry Conversion

I have used a Palm V for many years. It no longer will let me access the information stored in it. I have Palm Desktop 4.2.1 on an iMac running 10.3.9. I'm about to convert to 10.5. Can I transfer the information from either my Palm V or from Palm Desktop to a new iPhone or Blackberry PDA?
    Post relates to: Palm V

You may want to talk to Apple about how or if you can iSync with the Palm V device to get you data into iCal etc on you MAC, then you can sync to your iPhone. iSync is an Apple product so Apple would need to help you with this issue.

  • Cannot sync ical from iphone to my mac pro

    Hi All
I have tried all sorts and although I ticked the relevant boxes on itunes, I cannot transfer (sync) ical info from iphone to my mac.
I have no info on my mac i cal, everything else like contacts seem to sync no problem!
I have tried using isync instead of itunes as some folk recommended but without any success.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks for your help
    H

Before syncing calendar events with an empty supported calendar app on your computer, you need to enter one calendar event in the supported calendar app on your computer - in this case in iCal on your Mac. Make this calendar event up if needed, which can be deleted later.
If there are any calendar events available on your iPhone, this should provide a merge prompt with this first sync for this data, which you want to select.
I have tried using isync instead of itunes as some folk recommended but without any success.
iSync can't be used to sync anything with an iPhone. iSync can be used to reset the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences.

  • IPhone will no longer sync; iSync behaving badly

    My problem literally happened overnight.
When I dock my iPhone it appears in iTunes, but I get a message saying it cannot sync information with my iMac "because syncing has been disabled on this computer. Do you want to enable syncing?" I click "yes". Another window appears saying "Syncing cannot be enabled on this computer." It will then proceed to update photos and music, but not my calendar, bookmarks or contacts.
I tried to open iSync located in the Applications folder. It takes quite a while to open up. When it finally does open, I cannot select any options in the menu bar, such as preference to reset the history. Indeed, when I try to quit the program, I get no response. I have to do a "Force Quit".
I imagine there is a corrupted file somewhere.... I tried "Software Update" and updated to 10.4.11. Still the same problem.

Buy a new, refurbished, or secondhand Intel Mac. While iTunes 10.6.3 can sync the iPhone 4 from a PowerPC Mac, the iPhone 5 absolutely requires Mac OS X 10.6.8, which requires an Intel Mac.

  • TS3195 My mac mini (Snow Leopard, v10.6.8) does not acknowledge my iphone 4, iphone 4s or ipad2 in iPhoto, Image Capture, iSync or Preview but it does in iTunes.  I am at a loss for importing photos, short of emailing them.  Glitch with OS X 10.6.8 ?

My Mac Mini (v10.6.8) does not acknowledge my iphone as a device in iPhoto, Image Capture, iSync or Preview although, iTunes does.  I am at a loss for importing photos other than emailing them to myself. Same problem with my iphone 4, iphone 4s, ipad2 and New iPad. Is this a problem with OS X 10.6.8 as I read some posts claim? Please help.

I was able to import photos in iPhoto and Image capture when I was running SL 10.6.8 on my older MacBook.
Did you try quitting everything, restart the Mac and then try again?
Are there any updates at all for the Mac? I was helping one user not all that long ago and there were updates for her Mac software that had nothing to do with the OS and when she downloaded the updates - the iPad was then recognized in iTunes.

  • Bluetooth iphone 4 macbook pro isync addressbook Google contacts

    Hi all,
Hope you're enjoying your devices, when your not troubleshooting them here
This doesn't appear to be a difficult request but its proving beyond me and I'm seeking help.
I would like to sync my Macbook Pro's addressbook with my iPhone 4 - the help file in Addressbook suggests its possible and my iPhone 4 and my Macbook Pro pair but don't connect. I sync doesn't like it and keeps overwriting all my data in Google contacts, that I ulitmately want to update with the information I have stored in the Addressbook, once I've ensured all the data on my phone is transfered successfullly also.
    Any suggestions?

You can't sync contacts with an iPhone via Bluetooth, nor is iSync compatible with iPhones.
Use iTunes to sync contacts by following the instructions in the iPhone User Guide.
Or if you upgrade to OS X 10.7.x Lion, you can use iCloud.

  • Do I use iSync with iPhone and iTunes?

I am a fairly new iPhone user and am having some syncing problems. I sync my iPhone to iTunes via a USB cable. On about every other sync, the contacts seem to hang and take a long time to complete (although eventually they do). During this time, the iSync icon on the menu bar spins and if I put my cursor over it the top line says "Canceling Sync".
I do not use MobileMe or Bluetooth to sync. I am trying to understand if I even need iSync activated? I went into the iSync preferences an unchecked the box that says Enable Syncing on this Computer but then it seems that nothing syncs over USB. But I've seen other posts that imply that you only use iSync for MobileMe, or Bluetooth or a phone that supports it (not an iPhone).
Can someone give me some direction on this. I'm thinking my contact ync issue is somehow related to this iSync issue but I can't be sure at this point.
    Thanks,
    David

The iSync application is only used for syncing non-Apple mobile phones, however, syncing for the computer does have to be anabled in iSync's preferences.
You can't sync the iPhone over Bluetooth or using iSync. You either use MobileMe for over the air syncing, or iTunes for USB syncing.
I would suggest posting in one of the iPhone specific forums here:

  • What phone from the AT&T store (besides the iPhone) works w/iSync?

I can't find a single phone at the AT&T store that works w/iSync out of the box except for the iPhone. Surely there must be one. The iSync compatibility page shows a bunch of phones, but at the AT&T store they said none were current nor in stock.

The Motorola Razr V3 works fine with I Sync. I bought one 3 days ago.

  • ISync Nokia to IPhone 4

Kind of a complicated scenario, but...
I have 3 Nokia phones, 2- 5230's, 1-Astound (C7).  They each have separate and different Contacts.  I'm getting 3 IPhone 4's.  I want to get all 3 Contacts list from the individual Nokias to the individual IPhones.  If I just sync the contacts to ISync, they'll end up all together, right?  But how would I make 3 separate contact groups, 1 for each phone, so I could transfer them to the corresponding IPhones later?
    So:
Nokia phone A's contacts separately synced to IPhone A's contacts
Nokia phone B's contacts separately synced to IPhone B's contacts
Nokia phone C's contacts separately synced to IPhone C's contacts
(yes, I'm pretty sure ISync support all 3 Nokia

Well, I think I can sum this up and put it to rest now.  I found these 2 bits, I'll include for the sake of anyone else w/ this issue:
" iSync does not sync new contacts FROM a phone into the group selected in iSync for syncing - they always go into All Contacts. "
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3086061?start=0&tstart=0
" How to sync an address book group with iSync on OS X " (even tho it requires extra steps, a workaround)
    http://chadvonnau.com/isync_sync_group.html
Best solution I've found is Allan's above: " Unless you create a seperate computer login account... "
Might as well not bother with the creation of a specific Group in AB, just start with a blank AB, at first sync, merge all phone contacts to the "All" group in AB, check that group to be synced to, then subsequent syncs should reflect changes on either device.  I think...
    Am I close yet?

  • I baked up my iphone and when i had issues with sim lock i got it to finally work isynced my phone with i tunes and lost all apps recently downloaded how do i get it back

If you also backed up to your computer - you can restore from that backup - to retrieve the files. As far as I know- that should have no bearing on deleting them from iCloud - they should still be in that backup.
If you used iOS file sharing with your computer - and saved the files to your computer - you can retrieve them from there.
if the only place that the files were saved to was iCloud, I know of no way to get them back.

  • When Isync my iPhone with my mac desktop I get this error message, "iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found". Can anyone help?

When I connect my iPhone (ios 4.3.3) to my Desktop Mac I get an error message. "iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." This happened while I was downloading photos from iPhoto.

Close "iPhoto" if it is open. Open the "Pictures" folder and right-click on "iPhoto Library." Select "Show Package Contents." Right-click the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, select "Move to Trash" and sync your iPhone. The error message should no longer appear.
    if that doesn't work,
uninstall itunes and download the lastest version
