Iphone & itouch itunes help
This may be a very simple thing to sort.
I have a iphone 3gs, my wife has an itouch, we have one pc and as such one itunes account.
There are songs / albums she wants on her itouch that I don't want on my iphone and vice versa.
I can't be bothered each time I sync either device to check and un check the boxes on the music each of us prefer, so is there an easier way?
Would it be better to add another apple account for my wife and if so how do I go about that?
Why can't itunes just recognise that when I connect the itouch it keeps the songs on there that I want and ditto with the iphone. Instead it copies the library identically to both devices. :O(

My daughter (not living at home) has an I pod
My Granddaughter has and I touch
I have an I touch
When my granddaughter goes on itunes at her mother's house or at my house it wants to put her mother's songs on her i touch or hers on her mother's
If she is at my place it wants to put either her apps/music on mine or mine on hers naturally dependent on whom is on the computer.
Is there not an "EASY" way to have I Tunes keep track of which unit is which?
If there is I can't find it. Please direct me to the proper way of doing this.

As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5. -

There are thousands of games and apps which work on the iPhone 3G. Here are some tools to help find compatible apps (The first one is my recommendation).

If you do a search for GPS, you will get a lot of results for compatible apps. As far as EPUB readers go, this is one thing that really peeves me. At one time you could get versions of iBooks and Kindle that worked on the 3G iPhone and 2nd gen. iPod, but you can no longer download them from the iTunes store. A couple months back, I posted links to a couple EPUB readers which were still compatible with these devices, and within a month, both apps had been upgraded so as to make them incompatible. There are still compatible EPUB readers in the iTunes store (many localized with Korean-language menus) if you want to look. Downloading books to these readers may not be a straightforward process.

I'm sure this question has been asked fairly often, but...
My iPhone 3Gs (which only holds a charge for 4 hours) is not being recognized by my PC or iTunes. I plug it into the USB port to charge it and after a few seconds I get a message that pops up saying "USB Device Not Recognized". I've gone through all of the steps on this site that Apple lists as remedies for this issue but none work. I have also tried a different USB port, a different cord, and it charges in the wall charger.
Does anyone have any other ideas?Then you have your answer... it's something with your computer. Start with a power cycle of your computer.
Do you have any other USB devices you can test on your computer? -
Backing up Iphone on itunes - HELP - STUCK IN BACKING UP IPHONE
Hello all! I just recently switched over from a PC to a MAC. I am two days into this and finding the MAC extremely cool.... My problem I am having is when I synch my phone into Itunes on my new MACBOOK, it gets stuck in the "backing up your iphone" - It gets to about 50% and then nothing.... When I initially installed itunes and synched for the first time, it did everything great. My contacts and calendar was synched perfectly. I am not sure what has happened, but would appreciate any guidance.

Itunes on win 7 working, but updates to my iphones/itouch OS fail.
itunes won't update any of my iphones, itouches, or iPad- the installation stops and says installation failed.
Now ipod Touch- stuck on apple logo- needs restored- installation gets almost through, then stops saying "installer missing program."
no error code or indication what program is missing-
also win 7 itunes 10.4 won't update to win 7 10.5 ... maybe that helps diagnose prob.
done all the suggestions- restart without security software, unplug all usb devices, etc.
maybe an obscure setting or out of date program needs removing or updating- i.e. bonjour or other.
Any suggestions or good links to try?

Move the Safari app from the Desktop to the Applications folder.
Restart your Mac.
That's why you see this:
When I try to do the updates my computer says it has ready it goes through like it is downloading them then at the end it says some of the files could not be saved to "/" files.
After your restart your Mac, click the Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update ...

I just backed up my 3gs iphone using itunes. All my photos and contacts have disappeared from my phone. I am unable to locate them on my computer. HELP!!!
OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this. -

You need to have the latest version of iTunes on the computer, version 11.1.3 to be able to handle syncing a newer phone with iOS 7. The iTunes on the iPhone has nothing to do with syncing and is installed by the iOS.
Go to iTunes on the computer, click on Help, Check for updates to update iTunes on the computer, or go to to www.apple.com/itunes/download and download and install the latest version of iTunes to correct your problem. -
My iphone 5 doesn't sync with itunes on my pc. it says this computer has previously been synced to another io6 device or iphone? please help what to do?
The error message you're seeing is likely the other way around -- i.e. something like "This iPhone has previously been synced with a different computer". There's no problem syncing multiple iOS devices to the same computer.
However, the reverse is not true for the iPhone -- you cannot connect an iPhone to another computer without it being erased, even if you manually manage music and video. So, it sounds like you've been syncing your iPhone to a different computer?
Also, 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the latest iOS. -
I am a group exercise instructor and rely heavily on my playlists. My old phone is an iphone 4s and I just bought an Iphone 6. I also have a macbook where I keep my itunes account, but I create all my playlists on my phone. I need to transfer those playlists from my old iphone into itunes in my computer so that I can then add them to my new iphone 6. However, none of the playlists on my iphone appear when I connect to my macbook. I have read other threads where the suggestion was to attach the old phone to itunes, find the phone in itunes and click the little arrow to the left to show the playlists. Then right click on the playlist and export it, saving it to the desktop, to then import it into itunes. However, in my case, the playlists do not show up when the phone is connected to itunes. I have clicked on the little arrow and all I get is "music", "purchased", etc., but none of my playlists. I'm sure some years back I probably deleted something in my itunes library and now none of my playlists show. Please help me. I would hate to have to recreate all of my playlists. Thank you!
I know it sounds weird, and that is the reason I posted my question. Because my case is not like all the ones I've found online and it's confusing. I added a screen capture of my itunes with my old iphone (the one that houses my playlists) connected to it.
My playlists "ARE" in my iphone 4s. They are still there even though they do not show up when I plug in to itunes in my computer.
When connecting my phone to itunes on my macbook, the playlists do not appear anywhere in itunes. I have found my connected iphone icon, I have clicked on the arrow next to it and it does pull up the standard lists that come with the iphone/itunes: Music, Movies, TV shows, books. That's it! below that is "Genius" and below "Geniuns" is "PLAYLISTS" but the only playlist of mine that shows there is one that I created several years back titled "90's music" and that one I created it on my computer, not my phone. Under "90's music" there are also other standard playlists that itunes automatically adds.
Does anyone else have this issue or know how to get around this. I am starting to think that I am going to have to recreate these lists on my computer -
How do you delete songs that you purchased through iTunes but don't show up when you connect the iphone to iTunes? They don't show up in the music section when you click on "On this phone". Side Note: I have my phone setup to manually manage music. Please help.

If you want to delete a song from your iOS device on iOS 7, tap Songs, swipe the song from right to left, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

hi, have a iphone/macbook itunes prob. i connected my phone to mac to add songs, and it wiped 99% of music from my phone. on the mac it still lists the songs on my phone but they are greyed out. can anyone help? very frustrated and want my music back.
I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

So I keep trying to sync music to my iPhone from iTunes, and whenever I select the album the sync goes by really fast and nothing goes onto my phone. Then when I click "On this iPhone" it shows the songs, but they're grey, and I can't click on them. Help?
Ok, sorry. And yes, I just restored my iPhone as new and tried to put all the songs on there before I even restored with my previous backup, but it still does the same thing... even when I just checked the option to sync only "selected music or videos". How's that possible?
P.S. After I tried syncing with checked songs only, nothing showed up under Music on my phone and this message popped up in iTunes: "The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish." If you could, please tell me what that means, thanks. -
My iphone is no longer working I have black screen with a picture of the itunes logo and a USB cable. When I try to connect my iphone to itunes the device is not detected, can anyone help me? I desperatley need my phone back
I have had a 3GS for 2+ years. After upgrading to IOS 4 (now 4.3.5) I began having problems. In the past week, my screen went to the itunes logo and USB cable twice -- unprovoked -- just found it sitting there like that! I connected to itunes and it did restore from a backup but it is a major inconvenience. I am also searching for answers, but better back-up regularly!
