IPhone + iTunes causes Aperture to open
This is a repeatable sequence of events to make Aperture open for whatever reason on my MacBook Pro.
1. Put iPhone in its cradle. Make sure it's in sleep mode.
2. Plug the USB end into MacBook Pro.
3. Slide to unlock iPhone.
4. Enter 4-digit pin.
5. Aperture opens on my MacBook Pro.
I submitted a bug report in iTunes, but also wanted to leave a post here and see if anybody else is experiencing this. Is this repeatable for anyone else?
This is because the iPhone has a camera and will try to sync your pictures back to your computer when you attach it. It makes your comp think it's a digital camera, so your default digital camera program opens. I ended up disabling default camera programs altogether, and now just open Lightroom manually when I attach my real camera.

I have Hotmail, yahoo, and icloud email accounts all as pop3 setup on my iphone 5. when doing HOTMAIL I choose the hotmail under settings>add account.
never had issues on 3gs, 4,or 4s but with this phone since i got it from apple on day of launch waiting overnight in line. first i set it up using my backup via icloud in store before I left...all was good except a few playlists I had to redo.
Buit I redid the Hotmail 2 months back as I noticed my icon was a generic blue one with the @ sign in center of it. when I noticed my wifes had the nice Orange Hotamail icon.... so I deleted account and redid it using the Hotmail choice as mentioned above.
Ever since each time I turn off phone and restart It opens Hotmail and gets new mail. I have ALL accounts set to manual as I get mail on my schedule so it doesn't do it on its own...we see how well thats working.
I have FETCH NEW DATA >OFF but i do notice (under Hotmail Advanced) it shows mail days to sync= no limit (that way i can view older emails i have in many folders on Hotmail.
I also have "MAIL FOLDERS TO PUSH" set for inbox... the choices are any off the various folders I have on Hotmail so I have to chose one of them
I have Googled issue with no luck so I come here for some expert advice
Thanks in advance folks.Hotmail still supports exchange sync. There are hundreds people on these boards who are crying over the fact that gmail discontinued exchange sync support for free accounts two months ago. Hotmail is the only one that I know of that is left. You are kind of a dinosaur, if you will, in your preference of pop and fetch instead of easy sync and push. Anyway, you can go back to your making Hotmail set as pop account (which is really dumb and asking for trouble) or you can enjoy a bliss of last free exchange support. You already know what to do either way.
Since there was no particular question in your "question" that is the best I can do, that is me far from being an expert. -
I have installed the new up to date itunes which i can open on my PC, however when i connect my ipad or iphone i get an error saying i cannot use the device as the require software isn't installed?? I'm very confused please help......
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
I bought a book on itunes, and can't open it. tried to send it to my iphone so i could read it there and it won't let me carry it over. I have updated Ibook on my iphone. What do I do? I do not want to buy the book again.
You won't be able to open it on your computer, ibooks can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. How were you trying to get it to your phone, syncing it by selecting it on the iPhone's Books tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, or by dragging-and-dropping it from the Books part of your iTunes library over and onto the iPhone 'device' ? Another option is to try re-downloading it directly in the iBooks app on your iPhone via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in it (re-downloading).

When I try to open iTunes app on iPhone 5, it starts to open then closes straight away, I upgraded to iOS 7.0.2 and it has been like this since I upgraded!
I also had this problem. Go to settings> itunes & app store, tap on your apple ID and sign out. Then open itunes store. It should now open.
Then sign back in again and the problem should be resolved -
when i connect my iphone to my laptop and open itunes it shows my iphone has nothing on it(no music, no movies, etc...) then when i try to sync it says iphone is is full and can only put in a selected amount of songs. Take in mind this is my first time to sync with this laptop(HP 15 ENVY) and as well my laptop is just brand new. just got it a week ago. so how do i fix this prob. and also when i open my itunes store and then view my account it says error occurred either debug it through Microsoft visual studio or close program. I tired copying all the .dll files to the itunes folder didn't help
I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. Since installing 10.5, Itunes will no longer open automatically when I connect my Iphone or insert a CD. Nor will it, when I insert a CD, recognize the CD unless I close Itunes and open it again. Any ideas?

Things to try:
Try resetting your phone (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo appears. When you see the Apple logo let go of both buttons and your iPhone will reboot.
Try a new sync cable (often the problem)
Make sure you phone is adequately charged
Make sure you are using latest version of iTunes -

I had the same thing yesterday. After google gave me nothing and after I was sure my phone had enough charge to restart, I did a reset on my phone...
Holding down the Power button, volume button and selector button on the front - for about 30 secs (or untill I knew the beeping had stopped).
I cant remember if I then restarted it or it it restarted itself, but now its back to normal! No memory loss from the phone either.
Freeked me out as its a new iphone 4s but glad to have it back! Without having to take it to get fixed by a pro.

doublechecking something before proceeding ... are any boxes ticked in the Compatibility tab for your QuickTime?

It is opening up your computer generally because there are photos in the camera roll to prompt you to import them to the computer as you would a digital camera.

Apple emails with links to iTunes causes infinite number of tabs to open
Whenever Apple sends me an email with links to iTunes, clicking on them causes Firefox to open an infinite number of tabs eg., they keep on opening without going to iTunes.
You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.
