Iphone & itunes issue

I am trying to move a ringtone into the tones file on my iphone, but when dragg the file the entire device section highlights instead of the tones section and it drops the ringtone into my music instead of my tones

iTunes Preferences - > Tones
Check the box and you will see the Tones.
FYI, that shows the Tones library folder but not the Tones tab of your iTunes sync settings.  The Tones sync setting tab is only visible once you have a ringtone in the Tones library folder.

  • TS5376 Iphone / Itunes issue

I'll start by setting the scene
    PC - iTunes 10.xx
Used as main iTunes account. Contains all backups and is used to update iOS, add/remove apps / music etc.
    Laptop - iTunes 10.x
Not used - no backups, not even an authorised machine.
Decided to, finally, install iOS 7 on my iPhone 4
Using PC, firstly installed iTunes 11.x. Successfully.
Plugged in iPhone - picked it up and I immediately performed a backup.
itunes asked if I wanted to install iOS 7 (previously downloaded it but never installed it). YES
It ran through the extracting software(?) process and my iPhone then displayed the 'connect to iTunes' screen
    iTunes said 'Waiting for iPhone'
It waited and waited - approx 30 minutes later I pulled the cable out and reconnected it.
That was it, my phone was stuck on that screen.
I looked at many community threads and now I'm in a worse state than before.
I tried pushing the home/off keys together to prompt iTunes that my phone was in recovery mode - it never picked it up.
I tried stopping and starting the Apple mobile device service
I tried to uninstall iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device service - the uninstall process hung at the ebnd and never successfully uninstalled. yet when I checked Add remove programs iTunes had disappeared. Same with AMDS. Never a clean install, but removed from add remove list.
Same issue with installing iTunes. It ran through to about 90% and just hangs - it will not reinstall.
So I now have a PC upstairs with NO iTunes, yet this PC has all my apps/musoc/books data on it, somewhere.
The laptop did a good job of restoring my phone - it still has all my apps/music on it (the iPhone) but when I look in iTunes, there's no music, no apps etc. I though if I did a backup onto my laptop (which I did) I'd then have all my music and apps downloaded into this iTunes (it didn't)
My question, apart from HEEEELLLLLPPPP, is how do I get all my apps/music etc. (music not as important) from my PC, to show in iTunes on my laptop. Do I just need to transfer folders from PC to laptop?? If so, please assist - I'm pulling my hair out. Or assistance in getting iTunes re-installed on my PC so I can do the 'homeshare' option.
Your assistance is very much appreciated.
    Scott

Right, I'm hoping, things have got a little bit easier and my question simpler.
I used a third party program to transfer my music, contacts and books etc to the itunes on my laptop.
I also managed to get itunes working on my XP PC again. AND it found all my apps, music etc. like there hadn't been a problem.
The only downside is that my HDD needs replacing, so...
How do I transfer my itunes info to another HDD? Are there folders I can copy to an external drive, reinstall the OS on my new drive and then copy the folders over?
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Apple ID Change on iPhone= iTunes issues

I recently changed my apple id on the computer.  I also changed it on my iPhone.  All of my songs are there however, when I try to download new songs I am getting an error and it won't download and still charges me.  Any ideas?

  • IPhone & itunes issues

Everytime I connect my iphone to itunes, itunes freezes up completely. Sometimes I get the following error message..."itunes was unable to load provider data from sync services. Reconnect or try again.
I have spent over 2 hours on the phone with the apple experts and spent 1 1/2 hours with the genius bar. I am so frustrated and there has to be a fix for this.
I have the exact same problem on my laptop (Windows Vista) and on my desktop (Windows XP)
    Can anyone help?

Open itunes on the computer you sync to and click on iTunes on the tool bar and then check for updates and then follow the prompts

  • New software update still not downloading.  Apps updates have all downloaded since iTunes issue resolved.  Is the software issue also related to this, or is there another problem?  This is on my iPhone 6, not my Mac.

Trying to download the iOS 8.2 software update on my iPhone 6, but it won't update.  All app updates have resolved since the iTunes issue was resolved.  Is the software update issue related to this as well, or is it another problem entirely?
I've synced it to iTunes, turned it off/on, etc., but still not downloading.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi DebC64,
So is the iOS 8.2 update not downloading to your iPhone, computer or both?
You have synced it to iTunes, that is an option to update if it's not updating wirelessly.  Please see if other steps help.

  • IPhone-iTunes Syncing Issues  (3G Phone w/ 2.2 Firmware & iTunes 9.0.1)

Please feel free to inform me if this inquiry might be better posted in a different section of the discussion forums.
    *iPhone-iTunes Syncing Issues*
(3G Phone w/ 2.2 Firmware & iTunes 9.0.1.8 running on a Dell PC w/ Windows XP Pro Operating System)
With the newest 9.0.1 version of iTunes...
When you synch your Windows XP Pro PC with your iPhone (3G) device & instruct the software to synchronize your iPhone Safari "Bookmarks" with your PC's Internet Explorer "Favorites," should there not be a bi-directional transfer of the information?
(from iPhone to PC and also from PC to iPhone?)
I synched my phone yesterday & it appears that there was a successful transfer of Internet Explorer "Favorites" into the iPhone. However, neither were my iPhone Safari "Bookmarks" retained on the iPhone nor were they transferred over to the PC (& into Internet Explorer).
Do I need to also install Safari on the PC to get a successful bi-directional transfer? OR am I simply not looking in the correct place on the computer to retrieve all the Bookmarks that were apparently removed from the iPhone?
Furthermore, I've been experiencing difficulty with getting PodCasts that are already sitting in my iTunes account to transfer over to the iPhone 3G.
When I launch the synch operation, commonly the iTunes progress meter will seemingly go to completion. However, the iPhone will ultimately disappear from the left-side iTunes windowpane & the actual iPhone screen will continue to state: "Sync in Progress." The iPhone will remain in this state for HOURS & HOURS, until I ultimately slide the button to cancel the operation. I have literally left the iPhone connected to the synch computer while the iPhone's "Sync in Progress" status message remained the same for *17+ HOURS. This can not be normal*.
    Any insight would be helpful.

Note: I resolved the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling itunes with this procedure;-)

According to this article  Using iPhone on an airplane  you should be able to listen to music with Airplay Mode enabled.
Make sure you have Music switched on in Settings > Store or your music won't download via Wi-Fi.

if your computer is not recognizing it, try using a different USB port or different usb cable. if that doesnt work you will need to uninstall and reinstall itunes.

  • IPhone 4S issues with wi-fi and iMessage & Apple support

Against my better judgement and experience I bought an Apple iPhone 4S when it was released.  I should have remembered the extensive pain I experienced with Apple's so-called "support" when I had iPod/iTunes issues but I bought into the promise and the hype by Apple's marketing.  I'm still wondering why this product includes only 90 days of support if Apple is so confident in it's reliability.  So I was having increasingly frequent problems with my iPhone connecting or remaining connected to known strong and good wi-fi connections.  It would arbitrarily disconnect from my wi-fi and go to a 3G connection which of course causes me to use data on my Verizon data plan.  Usually I didn't notice the change in connection until I was waiting far too long for the requested information to show up.  As you can imagine, that issue will push me towards exceeding my data plan quckly and thus cost me more money on my Verizon bill.  Not acceptable.
Then in the last two weeks I started having an issue with iMessage/IM in being able to reply to messages.  I could read them, I could open and close the app, but once I tapped in the field to type my reply it froze.  I could not type anything.  I could close and reopen the app, same problem again.
So I set up a call with Apple's glorious support system for which I had only a few days left on my extensive 90 day support term.  The lady that called me was friendly and fun to talk to.  No issues there.  She had me initiate a backup after checking a few things.  Because the backup was going to take about 20 minutes, she asked if she could call me back.  I was fine with that, no need to make small talk for that amount of time.  I got a call back but it was from a guy at another location. This concerned me but he said he had all the notes so I was hopeful.  He advised me that if there was some corrupt SW on my iPhone, restoring would only put the problem back on my phone.  I'm a sales guy in the IT industry, so I bought that.  He said he was going to set my phone back to "new" as if I just bought it, then would restore all my apps, settings, contacts etc back to my phone.  It was a big leap of faith for me, but I went along because they are supposed to be the experts. After spending close to an hour on the phone with this guy, who was also polite and fun to talk to, he has me start the restore process and waited on the phone with me for a while.  The process was taking quite a while, I think around 30 in total so about 20 min into the process he has me stop the restoring session and tells me I can restart it later.  He wants to check that my wi-fi is working.  It was, so he asked if there was anything else I needed.  I said just to put my phone back to the way it was with my apps, contacts, music etc.  He told me that would complete when I finished the restore.  I had to go to my company's office for the afternoon and spent much of that time resetting everything that was on my phone to how it was before.  I noticed that the iPhone had pulled every single contact from my Outlook db on my personal computer (where iTunes resides) and all the contacts that I had set up on my iPhone were gone unless they were also in my Outlook.  The really aggravating part of this issue is that I have about 800 contacts in my Outlook, many of which are people I don't want or need to have on my phone.  The contacts I had entered on my iPhone over the past almost 3 months were the people I call or call me.  All that data appears to be gone.  I have since restored twice and the same thing occurs, everything is set back to "new" status and nothing is the way it was.  I am now so angry I could crush this phone with a hammer and switch to the competition.  Neither of the very nice people who "helped" me told me I would lose any information.  In fact, both assured me my phone would be back to the same setup I had previous to their help.
I ask you folks at Apple, what is the use of backup if it doesn't back up AND restore all the information?  We have a saying in my business, "you can back up the entire world, but how well can you restore?".  I don't know if some step was missed along the way, or I initiated a restore from an incorrect target, but I am not a happy customer.  Add to that the fact that I'm locked into a 2 year contract on this thing, and have had issues with poor support before and I'm pretty angry.  I've gone into my local Apple store to ask a question about my iPhone's capability.  It was a simple question that required only a "yes" or "no" answer and I would have been fine either way.  What I got from the pasted on smile Apple associate was a sales pitch on the product I was showing her!  Continously smiling and telling me the world is beautiful does not answer questions or resolve issues.  I was eager to buy an iPad in the near future but with the pain I seem to get everytime I buy an Apple product, that purchase is never going to happen.  You can block me here, blacklist me or whatever you like to do to keep people from reading negative comments about Apple, but I will be posting this same story elsewhere as well.  For the amount of profit you make from these devices, I expect much better service and much less aggravation.
    Sincerely,
    Rick S.

The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it.  So I spoke to the so-called "support" people at Apple who successfully screwed up my contacts beyond repair.  I got a nice email from Apple asking me to rate the support I got.  I was actually civil and described the issue tactfully.  What do I get in return?  Nothing.  Not a damned thing!!  You're luck you've got me by the short hairs on a 2 year contract but I'm still tempted to throw this POS through the front window of the nearest Apple store!!  Not only will I be replacing this phone with a competitive product but I won't be buying anymore Apple crap.  I guess when you con 27 million people into believing your rhetoric and sales lies, you don't have to care whether some customers get screwed or not.  I'll be going back to Verizon and threatening legal action if they don't take this electronic dung heap back but I'm sure the teams of lawyers Apple and Verizon have on staff have insured that I have no rights in this matter and you're free to screw me anytime you please.  Sad. I used to love Apple as a company and your products.  Now you're just another Microsoft with more trendy looking junk.  I've had it with you.  If any of your executives are brave enough to talk to me, please contact me at your convenience.

  • IPhone & iTunes - cutting music short

Looking to fix my iPhone iTunes - it will randomly stop playing music or switch to the next song before the current one is over.  I have seen hundreds of posts about this from users but absolutely nothing from Apple on this issue.  Honestly, I don't care who gives me the answer, I would just like to know how this gets fixed.

I appreciate your inputs but this isn't a simple issue fixed through the Apple "R's" and given the number of similar issues by other users, I do not think its hardware related. I love my iPhone (and all my other Apple products) and know that this issue has to be defined by someone and a patented fix available somewhere.  Do Apple techs respond on this forum?

  • App iPhone sync issue

    Hi all,
quick question, I'm having an issue when I sync my iPhone into iTunes.
Most of the sync happens normally, a part from the app sync, where  it should copy across new apps from the iphone to iTunes app library or update app files that have been updated on the phone (and the old file in iTunes is normally put in the trash). During the sync, when it gets to syncing apps, all that happens is the status bar stays at the beginning of the bar and iTunes cycles through the apps that that it needs to either import or update, nothing actually takes place.
The issue happened after an iTunes crash where I lost the iTunes library file and had to restore it from a 'previous iTunes library' file.
Also potentially of note, in the iTunes preferences, under 'advanced' the devices that iTunes says it's syncing it has two phones, with the same serial for my iPhone, one is from before the crash, the other is after.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers.

    Yeah, thanks, I have.
Also whenever I go to sync my iPhone, iTunes keeps saying it's detected apps on my iPhone that aren't on iTunes and would I like to transfer them (otherwise they'll be deleted). I've had to select 'transfer' each time I sync my phone.

  • System problems after installing iphone & itunes

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed a weird problem with their computers after installing the iphone & itunes.
Up untill i got the iphone, my computer was working fine. Now about every 15 - 30 mins, i get a few seconds of static sound from my speakers, and my monitor flashes in a way i can only describe as static on a tv screen.
i've been trying to figure out what the problem is, and thought it was just my copy of windows xp, then i noticed that every so often, my iphone will buzz either right before or right after the static hits my computer. I've also seen the same thing on another computer running windows vista, so at this point, i don't think it's the computer, and the issue never occured before installing the iphone.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot what is causing this, (or at the very least stop the static sound from the speakers so that it does not interfere with my music).
Any help would be appriciated, this is currently the biggest problem i have with the iphone.
    thanks,
    r.

Hi - yep, it's your phone causing the problem. But this isn't unique to iPhones, many (most?) cell phones will create this problem when placed near certain other electronic devices. I haven't been able to put my cell phone on my nightstand for years because it makes the radio/alarm clock buzz.
I don't happen to have problems with my iPhone near my computer screen or speakers, but it makes my alarm clocks and my cordless home telephones buzz like you described.
I believe the cell phone is essentially connecting to the mother ship to establish a signal! Like I said, this isn't unique to the iPhone. Just move it away from your screen/speakers and you'll have fixed your problem

  • Problems: iPhone, iTunes and the Music App

As the title suggests, iPhone, iTunes and the music app on the iPhone have all been causing me a great deal of frustration. I am experienceing a number of seamingly related problems:
    1. After adding new music and syncing my phone with iTunes, iTunes seems to "choose" what songs it wants to sync even though I clearly have "Sync Entire Music Library" checked.
    2. When all my music does sync on my phone, certain songs will be missing in the app or will only show up when searching for them using the search bar in the stock music app. Other times they will show up in the "Music" tab and not any of my playlists or under the "Albums" tab.
    3. I have experienced a couple instances in which WHOLE ENTIRE ALBUMS are missing from my music app on the iPhone, but will still show up when searching for them.
    4. One album will display split up into two inside the music app even though they are organized into one unit on iTunes.
I have erased and re-synced all music from my iPhone multiple times, which will fix the issue for a short period then reappear.
I have an AT&T iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1 and the latest version of iTunes 11.1.5 (5)
If someone can tell me whats going on or at least let me know if this is a common problem. If it is I really hope Apple knows about it and is fixing it.

    Hello gman4354,
It sounds like your phone is not syncing correctly to your computer, and the Music app is not functioning correctly even after deleting and re syncing your music from the app. I recommend starting by turning off your Music syncing in iTunes by unchecking that box in the Music tab when you have the phone connected, and clicking apply.
Then close the Music app on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and sync the Music to your phone again to re test the issue:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Downloaded album from iPhone iTunes and only got half of the album

Downloaded album from iPhone iTunes and only got half of the album. Where is the rest of the album? My iTunes account showed that I was charged for the full account>

    Welcome to the forums!
I'd contact the iTunes store and explain your situation. While they normally do not allow duplicate downloads the iPhone and Store interface is brand new and bound to have some issues to start with. I'd suspect they'll just allow you to download it again or credit your account.

I too am having this problem.  I've noticed that it seems to do it more often when i'm in full screen mode, if there is something downloading or i try to play something within the first minute of opening.  Also, finding a lot airplay issues and playing to apple tv is a nightmare without a LAN connection.   Anyone got a solution?
