IPhone/iTunes sync goes haywire 2x a week.

Hello,
I've had to completely resync my iphone 3 times in the last week. It seems every 3 or 4th time I plug it into my computer I get the message "An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer.
I am running the latest firmware, the latest iTunes and Windows 7 64 bit.
Then I have the option to set up as new iphone or
Restore from backup.
I've tried both. And still I am getting this message.
How can I fix?
Please help!

Graham, you might be onto something. I just took a think businesscard and wiped out the connectors. there was some pocket lint in there. Now it says it is synced
But I could have sworn I did this last week too. hmm.

  • IPhone-iTunes Syncing Issues  (3G Phone w/ 2.2 Firmware & iTunes 9.0.1)

Please feel free to inform me if this inquiry might be better posted in a different section of the discussion forums.
    *iPhone-iTunes Syncing Issues*
(3G Phone w/ 2.2 Firmware & iTunes 9.0.1.8 running on a Dell PC w/ Windows XP Pro Operating System)
With the newest 9.0.1 version of iTunes...
When you synch your Windows XP Pro PC with your iPhone (3G) device & instruct the software to synchronize your iPhone Safari "Bookmarks" with your PC's Internet Explorer "Favorites," should there not be a bi-directional transfer of the information?
(from iPhone to PC and also from PC to iPhone?)
I synched my phone yesterday & it appears that there was a successful transfer of Internet Explorer "Favorites" into the iPhone. However, neither were my iPhone Safari "Bookmarks" retained on the iPhone nor were they transferred over to the PC (& into Internet Explorer).
Do I need to also install Safari on the PC to get a successful bi-directional transfer? OR am I simply not looking in the correct place on the computer to retrieve all the Bookmarks that were apparently removed from the iPhone?
Furthermore, I've been experiencing difficulty with getting PodCasts that are already sitting in my iTunes account to transfer over to the iPhone 3G.
When I launch the synch operation, commonly the iTunes progress meter will seemingly go to completion. However, the iPhone will ultimately disappear from the left-side iTunes windowpane & the actual iPhone screen will continue to state: "Sync in Progress." The iPhone will remain in this state for HOURS & HOURS, until I ultimately slide the button to cancel the operation. I have literally left the iPhone connected to the synch computer while the iPhone's "Sync in Progress" status message remained the same for *17+ HOURS. This can not be normal*.
    Any insight would be helpful.

Note: I resolved the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling itunes with this procedure;-)

  • How do I undo an iPhone iTunes sync?  Most of my apps were deleted!

I am migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7.  I restored my iTunes Music and Video library, now I'm trying to setup iPhone and iPad sync'ing.
When I tried to sync music to my iPhone, iTunes gave me an error saying this phone is associated with another iTunes Library.  This is
referreing to my old XP library.
When I did a "sync" of my music, most of my apps were deleted.  How do I restore these?  How do I tell iTunes that I want that the
"other" iTunes library (under XP) is gone.  Do I need to restore some other files/directories to get devices to sync without deleting
    stuff?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am VERY frustrated right now!
    Thanks,
    Gary

You should have put all of your apps on the new computer.
Whatever is not on the new computer will not be on your iphone.
If you failed to put your apps on your new computer, then you will have to redownlaod them.

  • IPhone iTunes Sync without USB to Mac Sync

    Hey guys,
Is there any way to get the music on my Mac that I've recently bought on iTunes to my iPhone without syncing my iPhone via USB to my Mac?
Also, when are we gonna see bluetooth syncing? Walk in the room, your mac detects your iPhone via bluetooth and automatically syncs it without you knowing so when you get to work your music is already on there, ready to go, without you doing anything. Ahhh...that would be nice.

"Is there any way to get the music on my Mac that I've recently bought on iTunes to my iPhone without syncing my iPhone via USB to my Mac? "
    No.
"when are we gonna see bluetooth syncing?"
Unless Apple announces, there is now ay to know when or if they will do anything.

  • IPhone/iTunes sync hangs during "backup" phase

When I plug my iPhone into my Mac, a sync with iTunes starts. That's fine; what's not fine is that the synchronization always "hangs" during the "Backing up your iPhone" phase. If I click the little "X" on the iTunes display window, it proceeds fine, presumably skipping the backup phase of the sync.
How can I stop this from hanging during the synchronization?
    Thanks.

I have been experiencing this problem lately as well. I've been using an Iphone for over a year now and this is a NEW problem in the last 30-45 days.
My Iphone takes over an hour and a half to complete the backup. It appears to be hung but is not.
I also just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support....yeah...that was a waste of time. Essentially, they told me that ALL the data on your iphone goes through the Itunes server across your active internet connection and the time can vary depending upon how busy the server is and how much data is on your Iphone.
Holly Crap!....who designed the architecture for this thing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find this completely unacceptable. If this continues beyond September, I am switching to a Blackberry. When I connect my Iphone I don't expect to retire before the freakin thing finishes.

  • IPhone-ITunes sync

Each and every time I plug in my IPhone 3GS and ITunes opens it opens up a new user message that wants to ask me several questions to do set up. I have tried various ways of answering these questions and the results are always the same. I will repeat a majority of my songs in ITunes at least double, some tracks 3-4 times even on the same album. Some songs won't be repeated at all while others will on the same album, This is for music that I have both purchased from ITunes and CD's I have burned from my own collection. After each sync my collectons goes from around 2000 tracks to close to 5000. I then have to go through the task of deleting all of the copies otherwise it won't fit on my phone. My only recourse is to cancel the operation each and everytime I sync my phone. The other side effect is each time this happens, more and more of my tracks end up with the "!" next to the track and it can't find it on the computer. The tracks all remain on my phone and yet not on the computer. Can this be resolved?

  • IPhone + iTunes sync - syndicationagent.app problem

I'm a new iPhone user and whenever I sync my iPhone to iTunes, I always get a popup saying that the SyndicationAgent.app has been updated and needs access to my keychain again. I click on "Change All" and after a minute or so the pop up eventually clears but always returns again when I re-sync my iPhone.
I've tried uninstalling/re-installing iTunes (8.2) and Safari (4 beta) but the problem still occurs. I don;t even know what Syndication Agent.app is supposed to be doing - I gather it has something to do with RSS feeds from Safari?
Does anyone know how I can get rid of this popup whenever I sync? Or can I get rid of the Agent.app? (will this cause other problems?)
    I'm running tiger 10.4.11.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I suspect there is a file system issue on your Mac. Repair permissions with Disk Utility, and also verify your HD. If Verify finds errors, start your Mac with the OS X install disc and repair with the utility there,

  • Re: Post 2.2.1 upgrade iPhone / iTunes sync crashes iTunes

I realize this should be a different thread, but since this thread has a lot of visibility on the 2.2.1 firmware...
Anyone having strange issues? I've noticed:
    1) Sync of new data takes much longer (new app load, etc...)
    2) I've had 4 or 5 app crashes on apps that used to work flawlessly. The crash occurs after extended use.
Haven't pulled the logs yet, but I'd really like to see a new firmware update so I can stop living in fear.

Thanks for kicking this off Alex! Some further details on my 2+ hours of trial and error, trying unsuccessfully to solve this problem.
My issue seemed to be triggered by attempting to delete some songs on my iPhone. Delete seemed to be progressing until iTunes hung (spinning beach ball) and finally crashed/quit. "Submit error report to Apple" dialog appeared and I have been submitting them pretty much each time it happens. Looking at iPhone, songs in question appeared to still be there, but interestingly album art was replaced by completely unrelated podcast album art. Song track times listed correctly, but when played it just skipped through each track in a second. So some corruption occurred at some point that might have triggered all this. After restoring, no apps will fully sync (if you select just one app, it will appear to install until nearly done, then iTunes crashes). No music will copy without triggering a crash. Interestingly, personal data (contacts, texts, etc) for built-in apps restored fine.
I believe the only thing I installed on my G5 between yesterday (when all seemed well) and today was iLife Media Browser Update.
Let's hope we see 2.2.2 very, very soon. I want my iPhone back!

  • Post 2.2.1 upgrade iPhone / iTunes sync crashes iTunes

I upgraded my 3G iPhone to v2.2.1 today after taking a backup.
Following an incident free upgrade - sync'ing the iPhone produces a crash in iTunes during the application sync section.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thanks

  • IPhone - iTunes - Syncing never stops ???

Sorry, just have posted a question in the , i think, wrong group. So again here:
Every time, i connect the iPhone, Sync starts and first does its job well (backup, calendar, adresses, music, and so on)! BUT the Sync then never stops. In iTunes display "syncing iPhone" runs und runs and i have to stop manually after some minutes. The Macs process statistic shows a growing and growing process-tree unil i stop it. Waht to do?
    greetings

Seems, as if i have found the reason!!
For upgrading my HD, i cloned the old 320GB on to a new 500GB HD. While cloning, i renamed the original "MacIntosh HD" to the name "MacBookPro HD". For all other Apps, this seems to be no problem. Now, i reconized, exact from that day, itunes worked, like explained. For testing i renamed the HD to "MacIntosh HD" again and iTunes workes fine, like before. May be, some pathes are encoded with the Harddisks Name, spec. Photos.

  • New iPhone/iTunes Sync Seems Forever

I'm just very disappointed that it's so far taken 45 minutes to sync my 16GB iPhone 3G, and all I did was add one song and re-arrange the icons from iTunes 9. I hope it doesn't do this every time I do a sync. Seems like the initial sync after upgrading to iTunes 9 and OS 3.1 wasn't that bad, but this one was a time killer.. I thought the syncing was supposed to be way faster by now..

    No Need For Follow Up.

  • IPhone + iTunes syncing help.

Okay, I have my iPhone, I want to put some podcasts on it.
For some reason I can't sync my podcasts without syncing my applications too, but I don't want to sync them.
My computer is low on memory as it is, so my half a GB of applications isn't going to help it.
When I try and uncheck the application syncing thing it tells me that it is going to take all 48 of my applications off my iphone if I want to sync my podcasts.
I DON'T WANT MY APPLICATIONS TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY COMPUTER.
I can't play them on my PC, so why do they need to be synced?
I am super frustrated, as you might be able to tell.
    Please help.
    <Edited by Moderator>

When you sync, the iphone will mirror whatever you have synced. If you uncheck it, it will be removed from the iphone.
You can choose manually manage music to drag and drop.

  • IPhone/iTunes sync and memory problem

When I attempt to sync my iPhone via iTunes, it chugs for a while and then gives me a message that says that it can't sync because of insufficient memory. It's a 32GB model, and I'm only loading/syncing about 3GB of info. What am I doing wrong?

Did you try to reset the phone before you sync by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
How much space is left on your phone? You need more free space to sync than the actual size of the data you want to sync.

  • Unlocked iPhone - iTunes Sync?

    Hi all,
I am about to buy an unlocked iPhone in Hong Kong. The only problem is, when I return to the UK and put in my old PAYG (vodafone and O2) sim, would iTunes be able to recognise and configure it properly? Would changing the sim cards affect my other settings?
    Thanks!

I'm using an Italian (carrier/sim-lock free) iPhone 3G with a German (O2) sim card: No probs while activating/using through iTunes ... just works perfectly.
There is no carrier detection in iTunes; depending on the kind of sim card your own cellphone number won't be recognized either.

  • HT1386 Internal Device Error" during iPhone/Itunes Sync

I had this sync error every time I tried to connect my Iphone to my MacBook, "Internal Device Error" and the sync failed.  I figured out if I powered off my phone, and powered up again, the sync succeeded.
I think it was because there were open Apps.

I just bought a new iPhone 4 and I too am having this annoying issue. I took the phone back and exchanged it.. We'll see if it happens again.
Hoping for an apple answer here..
