IPhone-iTunes Syncing Issues  (3G Phone w/ 2.2 Firmware & iTunes 9.0.1)

Please feel free to inform me if this inquiry might be better posted in a different section of the discussion forums.
*iPhone-iTunes Syncing Issues*
(3G Phone w/ 2.2 Firmware & iTunes 9.0.1.8 running on a Dell PC w/ Windows XP Pro Operating System)
With the newest 9.0.1 version of iTunes...
When you synch your Windows XP Pro PC with your iPhone (3G) device & instruct the software to synchronize your iPhone Safari "Bookmarks" with your PC's Internet Explorer "Favorites," should there not be a bi-directional transfer of the information?
(from iPhone to PC and also from PC to iPhone?)
I synched my phone yesterday & it appears that there was a successful transfer of Internet Explorer "Favorites" into the iPhone. However, neither were my iPhone Safari "Bookmarks" retained on the iPhone nor were they transferred over to the PC (& into Internet Explorer).
Do I need to also install Safari on the PC to get a successful bi-directional transfer? OR am I simply not looking in the correct place on the computer to retrieve all the Bookmarks that were apparently removed from the iPhone?
Furthermore, I've been experiencing difficulty with getting PodCasts that are already sitting in my iTunes account to transfer over to the iPhone 3G.
When I launch the synch operation, commonly the iTunes progress meter will seemingly go to completion. However, the iPhone will ultimately disappear from the left-side iTunes windowpane & the actual iPhone screen will continue to state: "Sync in Progress." The iPhone will remain in this state for HOURS & HOURS, until I ultimately slide the button to cancel the operation. I have literally left the iPhone connected to the synch computer while the iPhone's "Sync in Progress" status message remained the same for *17+ HOURS. This can not be normal*.
Any insight would be helpful.

Note: I resolved the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling itunes with this procedure;-)

    Hi Careesa,
Your iPhone is in recovery mode-- you need to connect it to your computer and, most likely, iTunes will ask you to restore it. If you recently backed up this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

  • IPhone 4s Syncing Issues iTunes

    The iPhone syncing issues:
The syncing stalls at step 3 when I sync with iTunes to update the apps on my iPhone. When I sync the iphone on my PC it goes up to step 5. The syncing steps go from 1 to 5? Why does the syncing on my iPhone only go up to Step 3 on my laptop in iTunes?

I have the same issue with my iPhone 4s since updating to ios 7.1. It says "preparing to update" and then spins like that and does nothing. If I'm trying to copy a song from my laptop to my phone it is grey.
    Help please.
    Thanks!

  • I have three computers (Dell and HP) two I phones and I cannot get the iphones to sync with the computers.  I recently installed ITunes 11.0 on all computers and have no success getting iphones to sync since then.  The iphones are a 4 and a 3S

I have three computers, 1 dell and 2 hps.  I have downloaded the new 11.0 on all computers and now am unable to get my iphones to sync.  I also can't get the home sharing to work...shouldn't I be able to get all libraries from all computers on both phones...if they would download?  It tells be I have to delete the previous libraries to add the phone to a new computer.

If you no longer have the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store,  deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)  and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

  • Iphone wifi syncing issue with itunes 10.7

My wife and I each have iphone 4's syncing on our respective computers running Win XP Pro SP3. After upgrading to itunes 10.7 and iOS 6, itunes doesn't reliably sync via wifi. It will sync once then won't a second time unless the computer is rebooted. If I try and click the sync button on itunes, it looks for the displayed iphone then says it can't find it and the iphone disappears. This is happening on both computers. I can direct connect the iphone with usb cable and sync, but it won't sync via wifi without rebooting. I've click the "sync with wifi" button off then on. Nothing works.
We both upgraded to iphone 5's. It didn't solve the problem. I upgraded my computer to a new desktop running Win 8 Pro. Everything transferred fine and the initial sync went well, but the problem persists. After my iphone 5 sync'd with itunes overnight, the next morning it wouldn't sync again via wifi. Again, trying to initiate a sync from itunes caused the it to look for the iphone and not finding it, the iphone disappeared from itunes. Once I restarted Win 8 and itunes, the iphone showed up in itunes.
It's not the iphones(it happened with both 4's and 5's), the computers(two differnet computers) or, the OS( happens with Win XP and Win 8) so it's got to be an isssue with iTunes 10.7 and possibly it's interaction with iOS 6. We didn't have the problem before 10.7 and iOS 6 (upgraded same time).
Any suggestions? This is annoying to not have these reliably sync without intervention.
    Thanks,
    Z

Just found another thread that helped...deleted the iTunes Library Genius file and now the Mac can load the library!

  • IPhoto deleting issues and iTunes syncing issues with IOS 5 on my iPhone.

While upgrading to IOS 5 my iphone (3gs) would not allow me to restore to back up so I had to restore to original settings, ugh, losing everything on my iphone. Thought this wouldn't be a problem but iTunes won't let me pick and choose what music I want to add anymore even though I have "pick checked music only" checked. It refers now only to full albums, etc, instead of whatever songs I want from each album. I had to create specific playlists with all the music I wanted on my iphone. And it only added one playlist. I have loads of space on my iPhone so don't know what the issue is. Does anyone know why I cannot add more than one playlist?
Also, I discovered I can't delete iPhoto pics on my iphone. I can trash whatever I add to my Camera Roll but nothing else. I had to designate a specific folder for pictures from iphoto to be added to iphone and those I cannot delete. Anyone know what to do here as well?
    Thanks!
Found answer to iPhoto question here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/7636294#7636294
...but still need help with music. thanks

It's inside the iPhoto Library package.  Open it from the Finder as show in this screenshot:
Then drag the iPod Photo Cache folder to the Trash, close the package, launch iPhoto and try again.

  • VERY weird iTunes syncing issue

Here's my issue...I need to give a bit of background but I'll be brief. About 4 months ago a friend gave me an album on a USB drive. Loaded into my iTunes and synced to my iPhone. No issues. About 3 weeks ago, I noticed that on my phone I now had 2 copies of that album instead of the usual 1, and in each case only the last 4 tracks were listed when I chose the album. The first 11 "disappeared". However, if I do a spotlight search I can see they are still on the phone and I can play them. Now here's the weird part. Also about 3 weeks ago (we can't confirm if it happened at the exact same time), the same thing happened to my friend on his phone...except he can see the first 11 tracks and his last 4 "disappeared"! I should stress we've never synced to each other's computers, don't have Bump or whatever it's called to share data. Literally we have nothing in common other than the fact that he gave me the album several months ago.
So 2 questions - any clue how this could have happened to both of us, but in inverse? And second, how can I fix this on my phone so the album appears normally with all the tracks?
Sorry I wasn't brief, thank you for your help.

no idea on the cause, but let's try to find a solution!
first thing i would do is make sure all of the ID3 tag info is correct for all of the songs. to check that, select a song and do "file -> get info" in the menu bar.
as to why this happened, do you have all of your songs in 1 playlist, several playlists, what? also, how are you trying to see the songs? are you using the "songs" category in the iPhone, "genre", etc?

  • IPhone 3G syncing issues

i've got a lot of podcasts that i listen to as well as smart playlists based on number of times played etc...
so i listen to my podcasts and music while at work, come home sync up the iphone and what is suppose to happen is that the iPhone is supposed to tell itunes that these podcasts have been played and are no longer new (and are ready for removal) and these tracks have been played X number of times.
but what happens is that itunes doesn't see that the iPhone did anything and overrides all playlist and podcast updates and just ignores everything.
so what i have to do is remember which podcasts i listened to and mark them in itunes as not new because itunes didn't get that info from the phone.
any idea what is causing this or what i can do to resolve it? on the 1st gen phone none of this was an issue. i listened to the podcast and itunes saw that it was listened to (all the way to the end mind you) and removed it from the phone and itunes.
and since i can't manually update the played counts of mp3 tracks, my least listened to playlist hasn't updated since july 11th. and these tracks are starting to get played out.

I have a similar problem, but with a 1st Gen iPhone. I believe this behavior started as of the latest software update (2.0.2). In my case, the same sync session causes some podcasts to be marked as played, while others aren't. I have not noticed whether play counts are updating or not.

  • TS1538 Itunes sync issues

My PC is recognizing my iphone and my phone recognizes that it's plugged into a PC but Itunes isn't picking up my phone so i can sync it. I've tried re-installing itunes, pluggin in my old phone and I have the same issue, it just doesn't seem to want to sync to anything. Anyone have a solution or the same issue?

Here is the fix from Waldo-E3 elsewhere in this forum.
    Kudos to Waldo-E3!
      RESOLVED...
Found these steps posted elsewhere by another and the solution worked for me...
    1. Go to Windows 8.1 Control Panel.
    2. Go to Hardware and Sound; Devices and Printers; Unspecified (look for Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
    3. Right-click, then select properties on the menu list.
    4. Select the "Hardware" tab at the top  When the properties dialog box opens, once more select properties on the lower right hand button.
    5. Under the "Driver" tab menu, the update driver button will be grey and unselectable here. So you need to select and click "Change Settings" button located near the lower left corner.
    6. Now you can click the "Driver" tab menu near the top, so you can see the "Update Driver" button.
    7. Select "Update Driver".
    8. Select and click "Browse my computer for driver software".
    9. For Windows 8.1 64 bit, it should be located in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    10. Click Next, and let the driver re-install.
    11. iTunes  11.1.4.62 should open automatically if your iphone is connected already

    Hey there jackofromgriffith,
I understand that you have an iPhone from your friend that is still associated with their iCloud account. You will need to disassociate the iPhone from your friend’s iCloud account in order to resolve your issues:

  • ITunes sync issues with Windows 7 64k Bit

I am beyond frustrated! I have attempted for the past 3 days straight to figure out why iTunes keeps having syncing issues with all my devices- Nano 8GB, Touch 8GB, iPhone 3G 8GB. When I first connected the devices for the first time iTunes froze up and I had to hard boot. I then had to "restore" the devices as they were messed up. Since then I have had syncing issues. It says it is syncing but then it stops and freezes before it is finished and is unresponsive requiring me to end the program. Then my computer does not recognize the iPod is connected so I have to reboot my computer and it all starts over again. I'm not trying to sync a million song, 600 songs less than 2Gig.
Called Apple, they had me uninstall iTunes 9 and reload it. That did not fix the problem. Called back and they told me to go to the Apple store and have them check my devices (they did not as they said they were pretty sure it was not iTunes or my devices) that it was probably Windows 7. MS points the finger at iTunes 9, Apple points the finger at Windows 7... all the while me (the customer) has no resolution. I don't care what the issue is... I would just like to figure out how to fix it (if it's my computer fine...I'll take it in to have it fixed) but I just cant get anyone to help figure out what/where the issue is.
I have tried many of the "tricks" that are posted when you google the issue.. ie reinstall drivers etc. The "Genius" at the Apple store searchd and found something that said it might be my motherboard needing an updated driver (I updated that and nothing changed).
Would REALLY appreciate it if someone could help
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Does your PC have a NVIDIA USB Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) chipset?
If it does, you may want to try the Microsoft hotfix available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972.

  • Myriad iTunes sync issues - song cutoffs - artwork problems - yeech!

    Hi all,
I’m running the latest version of iTunes on a (late 2013) Macbook Pro Retina laptop, and having several different flavors of syncing issues with my two devices –  a 16 gb iPhone 4S running iOS 7.1, and a 32 gb iPod Touch 3rd Gen running iOS 5.1.1.
As best I can tell, some syncing issues such as one of the ones I am experiencing (songs chopped-off when transferred and attempted to playback from the device) have existed in some way, shape or form for nearly 10 years now, so I’m not expecting any grand revelations here - but just looking for some honest advice on how to resolve in the shortest amount of time & with the least pain considering I have a fairly large music library in terms of syncing time required.  That being said, below bulleted-out are my current issues / frustrations / thoughts on where the problems may lie.   I would appreciate any advice:
Purchased iTunes songs (ripped MP3’s from CD’s that I own and tracks from other sources do not seem to have the problem…) play fine in iTunes on my laptop, but when transferred to either my iPhone or iPod, they will randomly (it’s not every track) be cutoff near the end of the song.  Sometimes the song will stop with 2 minutes remaining and go silent. Sometimes it will stop with 15 seconds remaining and go silent.  Sometimes it will stop somewhere in that time range and start the next track on the album while still displaying the info from the previous track.  The only solution I have found to this for purchased content thus far is to wipe everything out, and go back and download the tracks from the cloud.  I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 tracks that fall into this category, so my options to download directly to the device an artist at a time are kind of time-consuming and cumbersome.  Would this have something to do with the file format of purchased tracks vs. ripped ones? I have a lot of older ripped material that was imported as MP3’s or MP3’s converted to M4A’s that never seems to have this problem.  The newer purchased files are mostly ACC’s which DO have the problem.   Also would this have anything to do with the fact that my library (including most of the purchased content) was recently moved over and imported to a new Macbook from a Windows backup?  Most of my iTunes library was Windows / PC for the majority of its existence for the past decade or so; we only recently switched back to Mac.
Discrepancies between deleting material on a device vs. what iTunes recognizes when it is plugged back in:  The other day, being frustrated with the random song chopping, I deleted everything on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen by going into Settings, Options, General, and “Usage” and then “Edit” and selecting to wipe out everything in iTunes. The device appeared to do this, and I was showing 28 gb or so free out of 32 once it completed.  Great, right?  I proceeded the rest of that day to painstakingly download approx. 900 tracks from the cloud onto the device, hoping to correct the chopping issue.  It did this, and I still had roughly 10 gb free. Great, right?  Later that night when I plugged the iPod into my Macbook with the 30 pin to sync, iTunes on the laptop for some reason still recognized the songs which I thought I had deleted hours earlier and showed me multiple copies of everything.  For the ones that had been deleted, when I clicked to play them on the iPod through iTunes, I got the little gray exclamation point - ! – in a circle like when a track has moved libraries and cannot be found.  iTunes then told me my sync could not be completed due to being over capacity on the device by a ridiculous 12 gb or something like that. Huh?? I could have gone through and manually deleted the (by that point more than 1000) duplicate tracks and synced to have made room I suppose – but after accidentally hitting Autofill – iTunes threw up its hands and would not let me do anything further.  Any attempts at that point to delete either pending Autofill tracks or missing duplicate tracks just led to endless spinning on the “Preparing Update” notice on the device which led to me having to kill iTunes.  Can you say big-time frustration?  I eventually opted to restore the iPod to factory (iOS 5.1.1) settings and start over.  That device is currently at home slogging through the process of attempting to re-download 400 some songs from the cloud over wi-fi so that I can avoid the cutoff track problem.  The plan after that is to sync playlists for certain artists over top of the purchased tracks so that my ripped tracks can merge with them to round out the playlist. Do you see how this is beginning to become a marathon?
Last but not least - it seems to be just since the last few iTunes upgrades for Mac, but I’m having a huge problem suddenly with album artwork staying synced properly. After one recent manual transfer session (30 pin between the iPhone and the Macbook) roughly half of the tracks I transferred had mismatched artwork.  Doing this through the cloud (downloading tracks “Not on this iPhone” via the iTunes app) doesn’t seem to have the same problem, but of course this takes longer. Also, what is the deal with “Show All Music” in iOS 7 and playing tracks from the cloud?  This is a really cool feature that allows you to save a ton of disk space on your device, but I have found that when I do this that many tracks have mismatched artwork.  For example right now I’m listening to a Grateful Dead song that is displaying Genesis artwork.  Huh?? Artwork is less of a big deal than the track lengths being chopped off, but it’s still annoying.
iTunes revolutionized the music industry and on the whole has been fantastic.  But it seems as if lately, little irritating problems like the syncing issues are becoming more and not less prevalent, and the problem is they aren't being dealt with.  I got my first Mac in college nearly 20 years ago now, and have been generally entrhalled with Apple products ever since.  But I have to say that this kind of junk lately is more what I would expect in the vein of problems from the shoddy-PC world that seem to linger and never get fixed.  Cupertino folks - what's the deal???

You're not the only one judging by the forums!
Likewise I have been using Apples since the Apple IIe(!) and have found them great in every respect. iTunes however over the past couple of years has deteriorated to th point of being unuseable. Apple has made iTunes the hub of your digital life and so it really has to work seemlessly.
I currently have had to completely wipe and re-install my 64Gb iPhone 4s several times to get my music back on to it. I cannot het any playlists to sync which is really annoying and it generally undermines my faith in Apples software quality.
Please put whatever resources are necessary to fix this soon Apple or you will certainly start to haemorrhage customers to other platforms. After all if iTunes remains broken then what's the point of paying the extra for Apple qulaity? You may as well uplaod ebverything to Google play and be done with it!

  • ITunes Sync issues: I cannot download purchased songs & the sync never finishes

Songs that are listed as Purchased in my iTunes Store account are listed in grey in iTunes on my iMac and I cannot download them again.
Also, and maybe related, since upgrading to iOS5, the iTunes sync between my desktop and iPhone 4 never ends -- it hangs on the last step, "waiting for items to copy."
Any ideas on how to resolve these problems?
What's going with Apple these days? Lots of bugs and issues. Too bad.
    Thanks!

Anyone having this problem and have mcafee click on the start button type services.msc find mcaffee rediractor right click and stop works like a charm

  • IPhone audiobook sync issues

My iPhone 3G with iOS 4 will not sync audiobooks properly with the latest iteration of iTunes (9.2.0.61). Unless I switch to "manually manage music and videos" and drag & drop the audiobook file over it will not sync. This is a fine workaround and all, but I'd like for iTunes to manage it properly.
The following troubleshooting items were done before "manual" mode was activated:
    1. First thing I did was look for the audiobook playlist from the music tab of iTunes on my iPhone device. I cannot find said playlist. The audiobook playlist is showing properly from the "more" button on my iPhone iPod app.
    2. I've created a playlist with the audiobook in it. The playlist shows up on the iPhone but the file does not. Nor does it show up on the audiobook playlist from the "more" button on my iPhone "iPod" app.
The books tab of my iPod device in iTunes shows audiobooks, see screenshot at www.danieldansby.com/ipod.JPG . While the books tab of my iPhone device in iTunes does not show audiobooks, see screenshot at www.danieldansby.com/iPhone.JPG
Some help would be appreciated. I don't get this.

I'm embarassed to admit that after a long struggle I found a very simple solution:
while my phone is attached to ITunes and selected, I'm looking at all those tabs. I click on the "books" tab. I check that box at the top that says "Sync Books". I notice that none of my books show up in the list so I can't sync "selected books".
<much grief and time wasted abridged>
scroll down... past the fine print that says "download the ibooks application from the iTunes App Store to read books on your iPhone", to the SECOND checkbox next to "Sync Audiobooks".
I'm torn between hoping for your sakes that it's this easy, and hoping for sakes you don't have to feel as stupid as I do right now.
