IPhone keeps rebooting, unusable

The iPhone 4S keeps rebooting and is unusable.  The reboot begins, and then restarts before the phone fully reboots.  I have tried to connect to my computer to backup and perform a full restore but the phone disconnects from iTunes each time the reboot starts.

Try to put it in recovery mode to restore it, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer

  • Iphone keeps rebooting

I have an iPhone 4s and it keeps rebooting.  I get the Apple logo, then the circle timer but it just stops and then repeats.

    Hello jfrag13,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone.  It is definitely inconvenient and frustrating when you are not able to access your iPhone.
I recommend following these steps for the issue you described:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
You can find the full article here:

If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPhone before performing the restore:

  • My iphone keeps rebooting and going to recovery mode. HELP

Okay, so it all started about 2 months ago when I let my iphone die. I put it on charge, then went to sleep. I woke up and found out my iphone wouldn't stop rebooting and going to recovery. I have dug so deep into forums just to find a solution but nothing has helped. Most of all I think this is a hardware issue.
I have done the DFU restore, I have restored (around 20 times.), but my iphone has a broken power button so its hard to get around some things.
It will show the apple logo, then the "connect to itunes".
Please if you have a bite of information or you have had this problem, PLEASE help me out!
    Thanks in advance.

If you are restoring from a backup that could be a reason why your issue is still there
Restore your iphone using itunes one last time, this time setup as new.
Try it for a couple of hours or the amount of time it usually takes your iphone to reboot and go Into recovery mode.
If issue stops then is something in that backup
If it continues or if you have already set up as new in those restores you have done before
call apple so they could look more Into It (1800 692-7753)

  • IPhone keeps rebooting after restart

Whenever I try to shut off and restart my IPhone it stays on the apple logo start up screen for about 5 minutes then goes to the screen to slide to unlock and freezes so I cannot unlock the phone. Then after about 3 minutes it goes to a black screen with the round waiting symbol on it, then back to the slide to unlock screen again, then black waiting screen, then it reboots itself again and starts the process over. The first time this happened it went through the cycle 3 times. The next time I waited 2 hours and for it to work and finally went into itunes to restore it. I try holding down home and on/off buttons and it reboots it again, but nothing happens. So today my phone just restarted on its own when I was in Safari and after about 20 minutes I took it to the Verizon store to see what they can do about it. First they said to contact Apple support, then a guy held down the home and on/off button and then it unfroze. I told him I already tried that 2 or 3 times today since this problem started, but he didn't care because he was too mad he missed out on a sale to "help" me. So the phone works now, but I know if I just try to restart it again the phone will just go through the rebooting problem all over again. I have not dropped the phone and I thought restoring the phone would fix it if it was a software glitch, so I'm thinking it may be a hardware issue so what should I do if Verizon does not want to help me? I've had it less than a year so I would like to get it fixed before the warrently runs out.

If no change after restoring the iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
Verizon doesn't exchange iPhones under Apple's warranty if required, Apple does.

  • IPhone Keeps Rebooting. HELP!

    Hi all,
For some reason my iPhone has decided to **** itself and go haywire. Its a never ending cycle of it rebooting from the apple logo screen.
I'm not 100% but I think the cause is when I had been updating iTunes and transferring music to my iPhone at the same time.
I have tried to restore it but this is how it goes down:
    1) Connected iPhone With PC and hold down on the iPhone 'home' button until iTunes logo appears.
    2) iTunes does not automatically start-up on PC once iPhone device is pluged in. Manually open iTunes
    3) iTunes message pops up advising:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
    4) Clicked ok within message box. Which now brings me to my iPhone under the summary tab within iTunes.
    5) Clicked "Restore". (Only option)
    6) Message pops up with the following:
"Extracting software" then "Pearpering iPhone restore...", "Waiting for iPhone..."
    7) Error message: "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)."
    8) Click 'ok'
    9) Back to point 3 once again.
If you had this problem before or know how to fix it, HELP!

    Welcome to the discussions,
Error 9: This error occurs when the device unexpectedly drops off of the USB bus and communication stops. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB isolation troubleshooting, using a different USB dock connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125
