Iphone language in Estonian?

For a long time now, I have always been curious to why none of the apple products have made Estonian an option as a software language. I would really like to put my entire phone into Estonian rather than today's date and the days of the week in my calendar and weather app... I know Apple provides the Finnish option of the iphone software but as close as the language sounds to Estonian I seriously can't understand it that well. So if anybody knows of a program that enables the entire phone to be put into Estonian or when Apple will finally release the Estonian version of the software for iphone, ipad etc.. It would be great if you could let me know. Thanks so much!

    It depends on what you're trying to do.
    See this website for more info:

    typing - no
    Safari - depends on the language
    Mail - perhaps? I've been told it should work depending on the application sending - it didn't work with Lotus Notes.

    Is that in "Wiley" language
    Don't I have to covert it again from Wiley into English?
    "Wiley" is not a language, it is a system for transliterating Tibetan letters into Latin letters, chiefly used by scholars because it gives an accurate representation of the Tibetan word in Latin letters, including letters that are silent or pronounced differently in Tibetan. Like English, Tibetan is only partially phonetic in its writing; there are numerous letters which are written but not pronounced in speech, while other letters are pronounced differently than theirr "nominal" sound either singly or in combination. As in English, where a student must learn that "tion" is pronounced "shun".
    Transliteration produces a letter-for-letter copy in a different alphabet, such as the Latin alphabet we use. Transcription of Tibetan produces a word in Latin letters that shows how the word sounds, which may be very different from how it's spelled. (There have been numerous systems of transcription for Tibetan; currently the best for international use is the THL Simplified Phonetic Transcription [see below]. Also many Tibetan words and names are commonly known in varying idiosyncratic transcriptions which don't follow any formal system.) Translation gives the equivalent of the Tibetan word in another language, such as English. For instance, the expression above:
    བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས། (common Tibetan greeting, like Hawaiian "aloha" or Hebrew "shalom")
    Wiley transliteration: bkra shis bde legs
    THL transcription: tra shi dé lek
    Common rendering: Tashi Delek
    Translation: Auspicious Blessings
    If you're interested in learning about Tibetan, a good place to start is Wikipedia, which has good articles about the language, its script (alphabet), and transliteration systems.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Tibetan
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tibetan_alphabet
    If you're seriously interested, you can try this Tibetan Language Student website:
    http://www.learntibetan.net
    Note that the Tibetan text on this site is not in Unicode, so you have to download a special font for it.
    This book is the best introductory on the Tibetan script and how it works: "Tibetan Language Pre-Primer":
    http://www.namsebangdzo.com/Tibetan_Language_Pre_Primer_p/11371.htm
    Or if you're really serious, the Tibetan Language Institute:
    http://www.tibetanlanguage.org
    And the Tibetan & Himalayan Library offers pages which can convert Tibetan script to Wylie transliteration:
    http://www.thlib.org/reference/transliteration/wyconverter.php
    and phonetic transcription:
    http://www.thlib.org/reference/transliteration/phconverter.php
    and simple translation (currently unavailable?):
    http://www.thlib.org/reference/dictionaries/tibetan-dictionary/translate.php
    Is שלום.  an actual real word?
    שלום is Hebrew, not Tibetan, and is a word. Hebrew is phonetically written, so both transliteration and transcription for שלום is "shalom", and it translates as "peace" in English.

  • NSLocaleLanguageCode How to get the iPhone language code

    Hi everyone,
    I am working on a multi-language software for the iPhone, and I realized that using [[NSLocale currentLocale] objectForKey:NSLocaleLanguageCode] doesn't give you back the actual language used on your iPhone, but give you the region format.
    It is quite a strange way to ask for a LanguageCode and to not get it.
    For some people it is not a big deal because both field would be same country, but for example if you set your region format into Japanese and your language is set to English, my software turn into Japanese.
    Any clue ?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    I had the same problem, solved it with
    NSString *language = [[NSLocale preferredLanguages] objectAtIndex:0];
    if([language isEqualToString:@"de"]) ...

  • IPhone SMS - request for additional keyboard language

    I live in South Africa .
    Vodacom has rolled out the 3G iPhone here through Vodafone.
    I am writing to you as one of 3 million+ people who speak Afrikaans.
    Please can you add Afrikaans to the iPhone keyboard language ?
    I write all my smses in Afrikaans and am forced to switch off the keyboard language , as Afrikaans isnt there. This is very frustrating and I would love to be able to type as fast on a iPhone as advertised. Ive seen the video showing how great the iPhone keyboard works but can unfortionately not experiance it for myself.
    Please Apple , hear my cry .. Add Afrikaans to your iPhone Language selection in future updates.

  • How to change language in turn by turn on ios7, iPhone 5s

    On a iPhone 5s, running iOS7, how can I change the language of turn-by-turn voice without changing Siri and iPhone ones?
    At the moment this iPhone language is set to Catalan language and Siri is in French (because Catalan is not supported by Siri). However since main language is Catalan, iOS assume I'm spanish and the turn by turn guidance voice speaks in Spanish, language wich I don't understand.

    so, to change it in google maps :
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQAp1wzakoc
    to make the same change in ios maps, you will need to download ibackupbot.
    (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VncrEQEvHQQ&t=106)
    then make a local backup of your iphone (without encryption)
    then open ibackupbot and naviguate trought :
    system files / home domain / library / preferences / com.apple.Maps.plist
    double-click on, cancel the registration, and paste the same code than the one for google maps :
    <key>AppleLanguages</key>
              <array>
                        <string>fr</string>
              </array>
    then save, restore form backup, et voilà !
