IPhone LCD display problem?

Hi everyone,
Recently a friend has encountered an issue with their iPhone 5. The display of the phone seems to be damaged as the bottom three quarters of the screen are a mix of pink and black stripes, both thick and thin in width. Could this be an issue with the LCD display and need a replacement?
Please don't confuse this issue with the pink interference lines occurring on some iPhone cameras.
Thank you for the advice or suggestions in advance.

Hey lloyd =D,
Thanks for the question. It definitely sounds like there may be a hardware issue with the device. However, to completely isolate to hardware let’s first try restoring the device as new:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
Thanks,
Matt M.

  • LCD display problem- bright spot

    Hi,
I just bought my idea u310 online. By opening laptop for the first time, I noticed the screen frame is detached. the frame was not fixed in its own place. it was separated from lcd. I pushed corners so that it can get fit in the right place. it seemed to be all right but after some hours working, I noticed a brighter spot at bottom of lcd display (bottom at task bar- more near to right side). I am very upset I afraid if the spot becomes more and more bigger ... its annoying . what this kind of problem is ? what is the solution ?
    Thank you

I would say return it to get a full refund or a replacement because it sounds like it got damaged during shippment.

  • Another LCD display problem

I've seen a lot of talk about the LCD flooding. (mine isn't cracked on the outside, but the display screen is all jumbled and it looks like the ink flooding people have mentioned; i can only see half of the menu screen)
anyway, I'm wondering if apple will honor its warranty with this. I tried to set up service, but it's $30 for shipping and handling, and that's without any definite that they will replace my nano.
Other than that, if I go to an apple store will they be able to give me that answer, without waisting shipping and handling charges?

Yes, you can take the iPod into an Apple Store and see what they say.
Depending on what happened to your display, they could fix it or not. If ink is "flooding" inside, then Apple will most likely not repair the iPod, since that is usually caused by abuse. On the other hand, if half of the display is off, it should be replaced, since that is not usually caused by abuse.
In the end though, Apple decides what is abuse and what isn't.

  • New iphone 4S display problem

I am new to the iphone and have only had mine about a week.  All app screens appear to be in reverse colors; sort of like a picture negative.  I can't find any place in settings to make the screens look normal.  Has anyone else had this problem and what was your solution? Thanks

  • Very unusual LCD display problem, help appreciated

First post, I want to thank anyone who can help me in advance. I just took over my sister's MBP Unibody, and she has been having an issue where there is about a 1.5 inch wide strip of complete distortion on the left hand side of the screen. Everything in that strip is completely color distorted with constant screen tearing and flickering. I suspect there is something wrong with a wire in the lcd screen, as this problem only starts after using the computer for 15 minutes, and goes away initially by tapping the screen or adjusting the screen. After about half an hour of use however, it does not go away. In a completely unrelated incident, the glass panel cracked yesterday (This problem has been going on for about a month and a half), and i ordered a replacement, so I will be "under the hood" on Thursday. If anyone has any recommendations of what I might do to try to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it.
    3 pictures of my screen:

Well its 70 dollars vs 600 dollars and it wasn't me who bought the applecare. And I would gladly bring it in to an apple technician instead, however my only problem with that is its not like they can just take off the glass, take a look at it and then tell me how much it costs. i mean the glass is shattered, you take it off and its going to be in pieces. Likewise, they very well might say that they can't do anything about it because the broken glass is clearly accidental damage and immediately attribute it to the lcd problem even though it has nothing to do with it. If the glass wasn't broken, I would never have even posted and immediately taken it to the apple store. Please, tell me I'm wrong and I will take it to them right away to tell me exactly why the screen is the way it is, and it will probably be covered seeing how it started out of no where. My understanding of apples policy however is that with the glass cracked as it is, they will have no choice but to immediately charge me for a full repair. But like I said, if I'm wrong please tell me and I'll take it in tomorrow

  • Problem with LCD display on 17" iMac G4

The LCD display on my iMac went wacky on me yesterday. It's as though one of the three primary colors no longer works. The screen has a green tinge to it, and anything that's supposed to be black shows up as green. I've reset everything, run the Hardware Tools diagnostics (no problems found), and changed resloutions, monitor depth, and brightness levels many times. No luck. The screen is readable although very ugly.
Obviously I can take it to an Apple Store, but does anyone have any idea what it might be? I've searched the net and the forums and can't find anything close, but I know I can't be the only one to experience this problem. I called a mac repair shop a few minutes ago, and they said that the logic board would need to be replaced. I just can't believe that because nothing else is a problem.
    Please help. Thanks.
    17" iMac G4 1Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I "fixed" the problem a few days ago. Digging around here in the forums, I found another thread that gave explicit instructions on how to open the iMac and re-seat the connections. Here is the link (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=196785&start=30&tstart=30). It's a post from Androcles made on 3/26/06.
Just as he indicates, when I did this I found nothing to be loose at all, however upon putting it all back together, on the 2nd re-boot all was back to normal and still is. It's amazing how clear and crisp the screen is after suffering through the green hue for a few weeks...
Good luck, and feel free to ask me for help if necessary.

  • HT1688 I need a Front LCD Display Screen Touch Digitizer Assembly Frame for Iphone 4S Black, where can i buy it ? can i it by website? what ? thanks

I need a Front LCD Display Screen Touch Digitizer Assembly Frame for Iphone 4S Black, where can i buy it ? can i it by website? what ? thanks

Anywhere you can find it via the obvious Google search. It won't be from Apple, but will be a generic replacement.
Why are you throwing away any future chances of out of warranty replacements when you drop or drown it?  Apple will give you a warranteed replacement phone for $199 (in the US, roughly the same in your country)

  • Iphone display problem

Hi, I'm having a problem with my iphone's display. I was playing dactyl then it my phone hang. When I pressed home button the display of the screen was zoomed. Its like there is something wrong with the resolution. I cant see the whole screen. I tried hard reseting the phone but it still doesn't work. Has anyone encountered this problem yet? Does anyone know how to fix this? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

"Don't you just love the internet community!" - Absolutely! I just had this problem too, got a bit worried but stayed cool, a quick search of the forums and here we are... problem solved! Initially I thought my iPhone was having dreams of being an iPad, you know with the bigger screen!
I might actually keep it on now I know about this, some things are better close up, I'll leave it to your imagination!

  • Insignia 26" LCD TV/DVD Combo display problem

My Insignia 26" LCD TV/DVD Combo has a display problem when you turn it on it is very bright, changes to verticle stripes after about 10 minutes of "warm up" you begin to see a egraded picture and after a little more warm-up the picture finally comes through clear.  I am past my warrenty period but I would like to fix the TV rather than throw it away.
    1) can someone tell me what the problem is
    2) identify the part that needs replacment and the cost
    3) estimate repair cost if I brought it in to be fixed
    Thank you

Try setting the input to antenna and then scanning. If that doesn't work, you will need to get a tuner box.

  • IPhone 6 (plus) Problem Display Edges Chipping (breaking away) or broken from factory (underside) No warranty coverage by Apple!

ACHTUNG! iPhone 6 (plus) Problem: Chipped (broken) edges of display glass. Owner Beware! Apple denied warranty coverage.
    Can this be true?
Recently I found a little trace on the edge of my iPhone 6. Very small, at the bottom edge of the display glass.
You could hardly make it out, but visible enough to catch the eye.
Since my iPhone 6 has never dropped or bumped in any way, I addressed this issue to AppleCare support, and sent them the device.
The upshot: Diagnostics of the technician’s: broken glass! Warranty coverage: DENIED!
This damage comes from improper usage or is an accidental damage.
The AppleCare adviser also confirmed that this device also is not qualified for any further warranty claim, because of the broken display.  (See Appels warranty conditions).
Apple returned my phone unrepaired. The sim tray was missing, and a note in the return package said, that warranty repair was denied and that I can buy a new device at apple store.
For me it is OBVIOUSLY a PRODUCTION ERROR by the manufacturer, and has to be fixed for free within the warranty.
I made pictures of this problem so you can see what I mean.
I can only recommend to anyone urgently, to carry a 10x loupe (preferably illuminated) to the store, if you are going to buy an iphone 6 or 6 plus.
Otherwise, if you catch a device with chipped edges on the glass you are out of warranty.
Please notice that the complete bottom edge has marks of broken and chipped glass!
I think the whole construction with the round edges is the problem. The glass is simply too thin at the edges.
It could be more iPhones suffering the same problem.
Btw: The glass surface on top is perfectly intact. The broken pieces are on the bottom!
You can feel nothing if you do not take the display apart.
However, I set up a mail with my lawyer and am waiting how Apple will respond.
They are of course also invited to discuss on community portals worldwide about this.
Please let me know what you think and if someone had success with the same problem.

Hi. I have the same problem. Unpacked a new iPhone6 and the phone had a small chip under the glass on the edge. Local store says that this is not covered as it would have been incorrect use. Pretty strange as it came out of the box like this and the metal edge of the phone is perfect (which shows that it was not dropped), just the glass is chipped (looks as if the chip is inside of the glass). To me it looks like a production issue as the glass is curved and gets thinner towards the edges. Would be interested if more people have the same issue in order to put a claim forward to Apple.....

  • Video problem on PXI-1025 LCD Display

I have a video problem with the internal LCD display in a PXI-1025 MegaPAC Chassis with an NI 8175 embedded controller.  Windows XP is loaded on the machine.  The external monitor output on the controller looks fine, but all black areas on the LCD display have a snowy green appearance (green "snow" in constant motion like a bad TV picture), the white areas are pinkish, and there are random bars and lines in the display.  I substituted a different embedded controller, which made no difference.  Device Manager reports no problems under "Display Adapter", with an Intel 82815 graphics controller installed.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the display adapter, which also made no difference.  Since the problem appears on the initial boot screen, it doesn't appear that it could be a display adapter problem anyway.  I also pulled all of the boards out of the chassis, including the hard drive, which we have on a separate card from the controller, and the problem still exists.  (It doesn't boot without the hard drive, of course, but the green snow stays on the initial boot screen).
Since the external monitor output works fine and the problem exists with two different embedded controllers, and nothing else installed in the chassis, it appears that the problem is in the MegaPAC chassis itself.  Is there anything else I should try before sending the chassis back to NI for repair?  Are there any components in the chassis that can be replaced by the user?
    Thanks,
    Al

    Al,
It sounds to me like it may be the display itself.  I would go ahead with the RMA.
    Regards,
    Lon A.
