IPhone Liquid Submersion Sensor and Dead Pixels

Today I went down to my carrier HQ. (Singtel, Singapore).
I went to spoke to the person at the iPhone servicing counter.
He told me that my iPhone Liquid Submersion Sensor has been triggered and it's now out of warranty.
And my purpose is there, to have my iPhone exchange as my home button is getting unresponsive at times.
And he told me that this is under Apple policy. When I purchase the phone, the salesperson didn't even told me about the policy and I wasn't aware of that.
So the main point is my iPhone Liquid Submersion Sensor and I didn't even drop it into any liquid, I don't know why but it's just unfair for me as an end user.
Question here, will playing apps like Ocarina activate the iPhone LSS? Only my bottom LSS is triggered, the top one isn't.
Also to recall, at the point when I'm buying my iPhone 3G last year, out of the box there is already a dead pixel and the person refuse to change a new set for me.
I'm in need of an iPhone urgently, anybody can tell me what to do?

Ocarina could trigger the water sensor since you could spit into the dock connector while blowing into the mic.

  • My iphone is missing (lost) and dead and it cannot be located because it is offline.  Is there anyway to get it online remotely?

My iphone is missing (lost) and dead (no battery life and needs to be rechaged)  We are in the process of moving but I am terrified and canot locate through icloud as it is saying it is offline.
Is there any way at all that i can access it remotely and change the offline to "online" only for a few seconds even so that it can become online again, long enough to play the music that i can find it.
Thank you for your time and consideration in answering my question

Tricia453 - I can understand you really want to find your lost iPhone.  But, this is your third post today asking the exact same question.  I'm sorry, but the answer is not going to change no matter how many times you re-post it.
Without the phone being powered on, and connected to a wifi or a cellular data connection there is no way to track it remotely or do anything at all remotely to it.  Remote commands and remote tracking require a data connection, which requires your phone be powered on.  There is nothing you can do to find it remotely, nothing at all.

  • All of a sudden tons of stuck and dead pixels on Retina display!

My MacBook Pro Retina is just about a year old. When the computer was only a few months old I had the display replace due to stuck pixels.
Now it's a year old (just 2 weeks out of warranty!) and all of a sudden there are a TON of stuck and dead pixels.
I mean A LOT: about 30 - 40 stuck pixels (all of them seem to be blue or white, I can't really tell), and maybe about 20 - 30 dead pixels. They are harder for me to see. The stuck pixels make the screen almost unusable though.
About a week ago I noticed one giant stuck pixel (probably a cluster of 4) but now, all of a sudden they are speckled all over the screen (but mostly in the same area where I found the first one.
Is my display just dying on me?
Is Apple going to make me pay for a new retina display (it's 15"). How much will that cost??
The display shouldn't die like this so soon, especially since it is already a relatively new screen (replaced once already).

I would go to Apple and ask nicely since it is only 2 weeks out of warranty and was already replaced once.

  • IPhone 6 screen is having dead pixel

    Hi Apple technical support,
My Ant helped me to buy a new iphone 6 in USA at 16/10/2014 and now I'm using it in Vietnam. Unfortunately, I recognized that, my iphone 6 screen is having 2 dead pixel, I'm really disappointed and inconvenient about this problem with my iPhone. Can anyone answer my question that will I able to be changed another iphone 6 right now. And where can I take my iphone to apple service in Vietnam.
Hope to see your answer as soon as
    Thank for your help

    Hey there Trimao,
If I understand correctly you appear to have 2 pixels not functioning correctly on your iPhone. I can see how that would be a bit disheartening. Here is the webpage for Vietnamese repair options for your device:

  • Dust under screen and Dead Pixels on new MBP...

I got a new Macbook and, aside from the fact that it was missing the P key, there was a new manufacturing defect I hadn't seen before, (must be from the new process), wherein dust was trapped behind the glass screen.
The Apple Store was great about letting me exchanging it, no problem. Then I realized that I needed firewire so I returned the new and unopened Macbook replacement to upgrade to a MacBook Pro, but now I'm disheartened, because the new MacBook Pro, though a thing of beauty, has a bright dead pixel in the top middle screen, as well as a dimmer dead pixel 2 inches to the left of that one.
I just bought the computer a few hours ago.
Do you think I have a shot at them replacing it tomorrow? I hate to think of staring at this, (bright) dead pixel for three years, (not to mention the other dimmer dead pixel).
    Thanks!

Yep, I too did a custom order wtih everything I could get on it. And sad to say, like many iphones I have gotten, it too had dust under the display. It also was about 10 different yellow flecks under the glass. Customer service gave me no fuss really and I have sent it off and am awaiting a new one now. However, it is frustrating that this makes it out of the factory in the first place. Quality control should have seen this, especially when I am looking at buying 2 more shortly. It is my first actual mac purchase aside from the numerous other accories I have bought for PC use. However, with vista being the garbage that it is, I am having mac withdrawls now. ***** when you use something that works and then revert back.
I also noticed the battery lid was a little loose on the laptop. Hopefully this is a isolated thing as well. It does take about another week and a half from what I am told to get the replacement. Kinda ***** to have to wait, but I am sure it will be worth it.

  • Shouldn't Apple recall and provide FREE replacement for MacBook Pro screens with ghosting and dead pixel issues?

Read the forum posts, Google the issue, watch the YouTube videos on the problems; they are everywhere. I purchased a 2012 Retina MacBook Pro and the screen is riddled with dead pixels, white ghosting throughout, and image retention issues, all from a company that promotes the quality of the product they sell. There's no way this issue facing so many consumers shouldn't result in Apple replacing these screens for FREE.
I purchased the high-end machine for photo and video editing. Photo editing is particularly difficult when I can't tell if I have dust, dirt or colour shifts in my images or if it's just the screen overlaying these issues. I've never had so many issues with any screen I've purchased, from my Panasonic Plasma TV to my cheap ACER laptop. Please Apple, quit ignoring this issue.

  • Windpad 110W Tablet LCD light leak and dead pixels

    Hello,
I've just received the 110W tablet (I'm in the USA) and the LCD exhibits what I'll call light leak, where the backlight leaks or bleeds through so that when viewing a dark background you can see white light around the perimeter of the display.  The white light is in blotches and shows up around the display in various places.  My tablet most noticeably shows light leak on the left side of the display.  Has anyone else had this problem with their Windpad tablets?
I've seen this in several other tablets I've had (Eee Transformer, Xoom FE), and it may just be something we live with, but I'd like to get your feedback before I return it to find the replacement exhibits the same light leak problem.
Also, how about dead pixels?  Mine has a dead (always black) pixel up at the top of the display which doesn't really bother me at all.  Again, I'm just looking for your experience with these issues.
    Thanks!

Interesting that you would return it for the dead pixel.
Absolutely, on a screen this size it would be very annoying. I have only ever had a dead pixel at work and made them change it.
I have no idea what MSI's dead pixel policy is  though so that may affect whether you can return it or not.

  • Refurbished Models and Dead Pixels

[Disclaimer: I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.]
I am currently trying to raise money through donations for a refurbished ibook through my site at http://www.ibook4abrother.blogspot.com/
since I'm giving my PC away to my little brother who's moving away with my family (I'm staying in college).
However, I also heard that alot of refurbished models arrive DOA, and maybe even more specifically, with a bunch of dead pixels.
Is this true, and am I allowed to return it to Apple for a replacement without penalty?
    Thanks!
P.S. Help me raise money for an ibook by donating a dollar!

    Hi Blink56k,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
The refurbished iBooks are treated as if they were new. You may want to look at Apple Certified Refurbished Products FAQ. The refurbished iBook through Apple will be covered under Apple's One (1) Year Limited Warranty unless you purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan.

  • Iphone has dead pixels!?

hello to all: my iPhone has a couple if dead pixels and is especially bothering when I am watching my favorite podcast: tekzilla! What should I do and who should I call? Also: what are some good ways to clean the screen? I never got the cleaning cloth, and I bought from AT&T!

    Hello iMac,
First off, I would have gone back to the store where you purchased the iPhone and got the cloth! No huge deal, but hey, you did pay for it. I bought the iKlear kit from the Apple Store. It is AWESOME! You get several cloths a chamois and of course the small pump bottle of iKlear! When I apply the liquid, it feels like the iPhone is like getting a wax detailing. It feels so SMOOTH while applying and afterwards. Highly recommend the iKlear Kit!
Regarding the pixels, how long have you had your iPhone? Options:
    1. If less than 15 days, bring it back and get a new one.
    2. Make an appointment with an Apple Genius to review the situation. He may be able to fix on site, or recommend it go in for service, at which time you will be offered a loaner until yours returns.
    Good Luck!

  • Dead pixel - worth the trouble to exchange?

Will Apple give me a new iPhone since mine has a dead pixel, or is it not worth it to try?
iMac Core Duo, eMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   And an 8GB iPhone!

Can someone explain this to me? I have what appeared to me to be about 20 dead pixels on my screen. I took it to genius bar and they said I only had 3 and this was normal and that everything else I saw was natural "bleeding" that would "go away in time." The dead ones and the "bleeding" ones look exactly the same to me. Now I'm reading here that people have just one dead pixel and apple is honoring their exchange? Why not me? I have what looks like 20!

  • Dead Pixel Query

Heya folks, my 2G iphone has 1 dead pixel, now i know that for Macbooks there has to be a number of dead pixels before Apple will look at it but just wondered if anyone had any experience with the iPhone and dead pixels? it doesnt bother me tremendously but its not ideal.
    Cheers.

Thats what i thought, i shall take it in and see

  • Macbook air with dead pixel

I bought my Macbook Air about 40 days and "dead pixel" rised in the midle of screen.
The store wants to repair de display and not replace the machine.
    Is that correct?

After the 14 day return period, whether the unit is repaired or replaced is up to the Apple's discretion. I mean it wouldn't make sense to replace the whole unit over a single pixel, unless that option had some other overriding reason to do so. Sometimes exceptions are made, but I don't know that you can expect it.
Make sure you have a complete backup of the machine before taking it in. There is no guarantee that they won't wipe the unit, or if they end up replacing it after all, you will have lost everything.

  • Dead pixel on brand new Qosmio G30

    Hello,
I just bought this machine and it is amazing. The best laptop, for sure.
However, I was very disappointed to see a faulty subpixel on the screen. When the power is on, and on a black background, there is a green pixel that stays there.
There is a leaflet that comes with the qosmio that explains about warranty and dead pixels but I cannot understand it..
The company I bought it from is currently checking on what can be done about it..
Is this pixel enough so that it can be taken to warranty? What else can be done about it??
From now on I will always test before buying.. but anyway, if someone has an advice for me it would be great!
    Regards

I had the same problem and am now on the second machine.
I felt that the whole situation regarding what they suggest is acceptable when I deem it faulty was strange to say the least - however, Toshiba are no different from any other manufacturers on their approach.
I recommend you assess how much of a problem the pixel is for you before taking things further - to decide on this look to where the pixel is in the field of vision and decide if it is something you can live with. As I discovered, even exchanging the machine and having new screens yielded the same problem in a different place until the fourth correction.
If you can't live with it, take it back to the seller at first and see if you can get an exchange - this is what PC World did for me. The replacement machine had a similar problem and I then wrote to the Toshiba Head Office and complained. To their credit their very quickly arranged a repair and got the machine back to me. This then had to go back again but is now OK.
Toshiba did not have to do this and I can't fault their approach to me personally although as a whole the industry policy on this type of fault seems poor in my assessment!
    Hope this helps.

  • My iMac 27inch 5k screen has a huge line of dead pixels. I bought it today itself!!!

I Just bought my iMac 27inch 5k and after Unboxing it, came to realize that the screen has flickering and dead pixels all over the left side.
is this a hardware or sodrware issue and can I repalce it with a new one since my warrantee is a day old?!

If you bought it directly from Apple,  you have a 14 day return or exchange window. Take advantage of it.

  • So I just got my iPhone 5s and there appears to be a dead pixel on the top of the screen. Is there anything that could be done?

I was curious If anything could be done about a dead pixel on the top of my iPhone 5s screen? And I bought the phone directly from ATT if that makes a difference.

Take the iPhone back to ATT and show them the dead pixel on the display and get the iPhone replaced.
