IPhone Locking when updating

i was given a first generation iPhone by my aunt in America. i live in New Zealand and my aunt said that she was told that i could use my phone in New Zealand with an NZ sim card. it worked for the first few hours but when i tried to update it it locked its self, and i could only make emergency calls... i managed to take it into a cell phone store and they fixed the problem, but did not tell me that i could not update it, so the next week i tried again... with the same result. again, i got it fixed...
i just want to see if there was any way to get my phone updated without it locking... so if any one has any insight, please tell me... im still using version 1.1.4!!! it is so annoying!!!

i'm really confused..
i buy my iphone in Indonesia. and the seller says that it was the factory unlock so it's safe for me to use the iphone with different kind of sim card. and it's works.. i can use it with my old sim card. but apparently the problems come when i want to update my iphone. and the first time i updated my iphone suddenly my iphone unlocked and i cannot do anything except emergency calls. after i bring it to the seller, he said that the problem is with the update thing because he said that the update isn't perfect enough to be downloaded. so after i found out that there is newest update so i try again but the same problem come to me. now my iphone locked again. i really confused while the seller said that it's factory unlocked and it's safe to change with any sim card but from other post i read that it's because the iphone hasn't unlocked yet.
help me to find out..
it's killing me that i'm still using the old version.and even i cannot put my facebook on my iphone. it' sad really sad.

  • IPhone Locks when updating software

I was prompted to download a newer version of the software for my iPhone. I got an error message in itunes when downloading the software and my iPhone is currently locked up as a result of this error. The iPhone will not stay on and the only way I can get it to turn on is to reset it. When I reset it, it stays on for a couple of seconds and only displays the graphic for the connection and the iTunes image...nothing works.

Sounds like a hardware issue. I would contact Apple and get it serviced.

  • Avoid iPhone Locking when Ipod is playing

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 4 all up to date etc.
Is there a way (feature/setting or app) that will stop the iphone from locking when playing music from the ipod?
Reason I ask is I use my iphone for playing music in the car on a daily basis using an AUX input to my standard car stereo (purchased an adapter), and its a bit annoying if not slightly dangerous (I think) having to slide to unlock my phone everytime I want to change the track, let alone the fact I've had to put a simple code on the phone also to stop friends getting on my facebook?!
There was an app on my previous Nokia phone called 'Mr lock' which mean't i could put lock exceptions on the phone. ie. not lock in any way if the music player was running.
Basically what I'm asking is does the iPhone 4 have anything that can replicate this funcionality (without the jailbreak rubbish as I'm on contract and personally against destroying my nice shiny new phone)?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Gary

Won't work if you have an exchange email connection that has a rule on using a pin and autolock mandatory. I have this and cannot set it to never because of the Exchange rules set by my email provider.

  • Itunes v 11.0.2.26 windows - iphone 5 - when updating software asked to transfer purchases - when i go to file - trnasfer purchases is longer an option in this?  What am i doing wrong?

When attempting to update to iOS 6.1.3 i get the messge:  "there are purchased items on the iPhone "" that have not been transferred to your iTunes library.  You should tnasfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPhone.  Are you shure you want to continue?"
I cancel.  Go to File to look for the Transfer Purchases item like I always used to, and it is not there - not even greyed out.  What am i missing?

With the phone connected, go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.

  • Iphone 4 when updated to 6.1.2 wont play video on kenwood in car

When I updated my iphone 4 to the 6.1.2 software it wont play the video in my car anymore. The sound still works but no video, I dont know what happened. I have gone through the kenwood forums and they are saying that it had something to do with the update that apple put out. Any suggestions?

That's why I disdain the cloud and prefer terra firma with a good recent local backup on a computer I control. But anyway...
As far as the phone is concerned, its data is kaput. Will have to be patient and reload/salvage what you can from the ancient backup. Like I said, phone is empty, nothing to save from there, so if it does not restore at first try, don't be afraid to stop it, wipe it clean and start again.

  • Users get administrator locked when updating license tab in SU01

    Hello All,
We are using a custom program which updates the license tab of the users in SU01 through BDC based on their classification.
But when we run the program some of the users are getting a status updated as "Locked by administrator''. We have checked the program but no code is written to lock the users. Is there any relationship between updating the license tab and the user getting locked by administrator status.
Your replies will be greatly appreciated.
    Thankyou,
    Ranjan

    Hello,
License information determines how active users exists in the system and SAP can charge for each of those dialog users after doing system measurement in USMM ,SLAW transactions.
Check SUIM,whether your administrator has locked any users who have left the company etc. Lcoked means, inactive.
It is advisable to keep expiry dates to users rather than locking, once the suer leaves the company.

So I have downloaded and installed the latest iTunes.
Now it apprears my phone is stuck on 'restoring iphone software' and has been like this for about 2 hours.
I have also tried this on another computer with new iTunes installation. Should I bring the phone into an Apple Store or just keep trying?

    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
    4. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup

  • IPhone stops when updating to 4.2

I decided to update my phone to 4.2 today and everything works fine until it's almost done and then it just stops. iTunes says "restoring iPhone software" and the status bar gets about 99% done and then it stops and on my iPhone all there is is the apple logo and the status bar on the phone gets about 60% done and it stops and then just sits there. I let it sit for a few hours and no luck. I have restarted iTunes, restarted my computer, hard restarted my phone all to no avail. I tried looking for my host files and delete anything that might be interfering and nothing. I have tried to reinstall 4.1 and even 4.0.1 and each time its the same thing. I've tried restoring from restore mode and DFU mode. Nothing. It always gets to the same spot and nothing. I am using an apple usb cable and I am currently trying to do the restore on another apple imac. Any suggestions? I'm stuck without my phone and it's my only one!!! I know people have asked this in other posts, they have all been slightly different and I have tried all their methods and nothing has worked so I'm making my own post. I don't mean to be redundant. Thanks for any help. Oh it's and iPhone 4.

I have the exact same problem on my iPhone 4 and I don't know what to do. I was wondering if you had your issue resolved yet, and if so, what did you do to get it working?

  • Is the iphone locked when you get it at apple store?

My friend's iPhone 4 broke and at the apple store (UK) they gave her a new one to replace the broken one. She is now in Finland and the iPhone appears to be locked.
The broken iPhone was bought in Finland and was not locked. This one is. Does apple only give/sell locked iPhones in the UK?

You should have gotten a like-for-like replacement. If the original phone was officially unlocked, the replacement phone should be as well. Call the store or AppleCare to fix.

  • Keep iPhone locked when lost/stolen?

I know I can set an auto lock with 4 digit code. I wonder what good will that do if someone has the phone (lost/stolen). Can't they plug it into iTunes and do a "restore"? Or somehow crack the code and steal all my info.
Is there a way to lock the firmware so it can't be boot/restored without a PW? Just like my MacBook.
I want to know a good way to make it unusable/unsell-able to anyone. Thanks!

Someone would need to get lucky with guessing your 4 digit passcode so a good idea to not use something like 0000 or 1111 for your passcode.
Someone can connect a iPhone to iTunes that is not their iPhone and restore the iPhone as a new iPhone, but they won't be able to access any of your data unless they get lucky in guessing your passcode or spend a great deal of time going through every possible combination.
The only thing you can do is use a passcode and if your iPhone is lost or stolen, call AT&T immediately to report it. If you know your iPhone was stolen, you should also report this to the police.

  • I recently replaced my iPhone 5s and had restored it but most of my apps are no longer there in the restore , also it comes up with the other iPhones icloud when updating the apps ?? please help

i would like to know how to get all apps back , also to get the other icloud account off my iphone ?

If you restored the backup from iCloud, it will automatically re-download all your apps for you on its own.
If you restored the backup from iTunes, you have to manually download all the apps back from the AppStore.
Never heard of such issue with iCloud before but you can sign out of all iCloud account starting with,
    Settings>iCloud
    Settings>Messages>iMessage
    Settings>Facetime
    Settings>iTunes & AppStore
    Settings>Game Center
Turn off home sharing on your phone if its on. Then sign in back to each one of them with your apple account.

  • Why is my iPhone locked after update to iOS 7.0.4.

Hi, I installed iOS 7.04 on my iPhone 4.  I have not been able to use the phone since because it is asking for a password, which I did not have before the upgrade.  My Apple ID password does not work.  This means that I cannot go to "settings" in my iPhone, an action frequently recommended in "Apple support.".  Please help.  How do I get around this?
