Iphone looses wi-fi password

My iPhone 4, with up-to-date IOS, has been in the habit of asking if I want to join a wi-fi network even though I am already connected to that network and am actively using it for some time now which seems rather silly. I click "yes" or whatever and continue. Last night when that happened I got an "incorrect password" response and was disconnected from the network I was using (my home wi-fi network).
When I checked in Settings there appeared to be no password present. There also did not appear to be names for other networks I ordinarily use.
Questions:
Will syncing the iPhone via iTunes restore these settings?
What is going on?
When I get the pop-up asking whether I want to join the network I am already connected to I can only guess that it is generated by a lease expiration. Is there a setting to change the length of time or simply set the lease length to "forever"?

when you try to connect do you get any error message?
ok, try a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait until the phone boots back up.

No it didn't. You did, whether you realize it or not. Restrictions can only be enabled by user interaction. They don't just turn on by themselves.

Why do'nt you just restore the latest backup that was made prior to you applying the update? Problem solved?

Not entirely sure what you are asking, but a passcode to unlock an iOS device is normally 4 digits long (so is a 4 digit code), though you can make it alphanumeric and longer (so effectively becomes a password).
If you don't know the passcode to unlock your phone or it's showing the disabled screen then there are instructions on this page for how to reset a device : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 - you should then be able to restore/resync your content to it.

I have an iMac, and iPhone. I've had my Apple ID for a few years.
My wife got an iPhone 4S a few months back and the salesperson at Verizon set her Apple ID the same as mine, but gave her a different password. I don't know if this was ok, but that is what happened.
So, yesterday, we both upgraded to IOS6 and I had no problem logging in to my iPhone with my Apple ID. When my wife went to log in, she was told that she was entering the wrong password. We entered the password over and over again and still was wrong.
The question is... can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords? (I have the feeling her iPhone is thinking that since it's my Apple ID, it wants my password.)
If not, can I still set up a new Apple ID for her even through she's had the iPhone for a few months?

You shold follow your feelings, its probably right most of the time.
You can have 5 different devices hucked upp to one Apple ID. What I have done is that my wife and I have one Apple ID, when I bye a new app on my phone, She gets it to. Thats nice.
You can allways set upp a new Apple ID for your wife.

This should work; one of my e-mail accounts is my own domain through Gmail. Make sure your username is set to your full e-mail address (like [email protected]) rather than just your username.
Did you set it up on your iPhone as an IMAP account, or as a Gmail account? It should work perfectly using the Gmail setting. It can work as IMAP, but you need to jump through a few hoops to get there.

Sir, Thank you very much for your prompt response. I have already done this. But the problem is still persisting. Actually, I want to upgrade my WhattsApp application and as soon as I click the upgrade button in App Store, it asks for the password of previous apple i.d., which I don't have as I have bought this phone from somebody. There is no option for log out or log in. It there any other way out to upgrade the WhatsApp ????

Hi, my iphone connects to non password networks very easily. However when its protected by a password i can't log in even if the hep key is correct.
I've done everything from resetting the network settings, typing the ip address, and so on.

"Wrong Password" is not one of iOS's error messages. So where are you seeing this? Have you tried taking it ot the GenusBar to be looked at?
Are you entering your system account or AppleID password to logon to WiFi networks? If so that will not work. you have to use the specific user name and or password each specific network. Do you have accounts on any of these networks you have tried to connect to?

Actually, I want her to have a separate iTunes account. Our marriage is fine, but our musical tastes are vastly different That's another issue; right now want to focus on getting my wife in .icloud email address.

Perform these steps on a computer,
when you double-click an item you purchased before you renamed the account, the authorization dialog may show the old account name. If this happens, you will need to remove the old account name from the account name field, type the new account name, and click Authorize.
