IPhone losing all signal when put into sleep

When I put my iPhone 4 to sleep after about a minute all of my signal drops off and I'm unable to receive calls or messages until I wake it
When I wake it to signal indicator confirms what's happening and it displays either one bar or "no service." After about 10-15 seconds the signal strength jumps back up to full again and then i get all my voicemail and messages come through
It wasn't always doing this and has only been doing it for the last week or so
Anyone else having a similar issue?

I'm having similar issues, except when I wake the phone it still shows me full bars and 3G (or sometimes even wi-fi) connection, but I can't send or receive any calls or texts. I have to shut off the phone and turn it back on and then I end up with voice mail and texts that I missed. This even happens when I haven't put the phone into standby - I can be using an app and then go to text someone or make a call and find out it's all jacked up. It's annoying because I never know if/when I need to restart the phone.

  • IPhone loses edge signal when waking from sleep, E is still present

For some reason, when I put my phone into sleep mode and then wake it a short time later, I lose my edge signal. Checking email or looking online results in the "cannot find server" error, yet the edge "E" in the top left corner is still there. This problem only occurs about 25% of the time, but when it does happen, it requires me to turn the phone off and on again to regain the connection.
Any information regarding this frustrating issue would be greatly appreciated!

  • MacBook Pro shuts down when put into sleep mode

Every time I put my Mac into sleep mode (plugged in or not, charged or not), it shuts itself down, and I have to restart it. I just got it (brand new) in August, so I know the battery shouldn't be bad.
It's been doing this for about a week... I just changed to Snow Leopard yesterday, and downloaded the software updates and everything, but it still shuts down.
Anyone know what I can do (short of sending it to Apple) to fix this?

Okay, well I already used smartsleep.
It fixed the problem I was having, but now my macbook started having the same issues again this weekend. It's happened twice tonight in the span of 3 hours.
Do I need to uninstall SmartSleep then?
And here is the report I get when the macbook reboots:

  • Shuts down when put into sleep mode

Any idea why this is happening?
When my ipod touch locks itself or if I put it into sleep mode, it will not wake itself up with the press of a button - instead, it restarts (black screen with apple logo in centre).
It is only 12 hours old and was perfectly fine when running on the factory 1.xx software, it has only started happening since the 2.1 software was installed.
Since, I have Restored it through iTunes which performs another clean install of 2.1 and it is the same still
Weirdly, while it is connected to my PC through the USB cable, it behaves perfectly (waking up from sleep instantly with the press of the home button), but as soon as I disconnect it from the PC, it starts playing up again.
If I set the settings to never lock, it performs brilliantly which is annoying as I now have a taste of what this device can do, but I just cant put it into sleep mode.
Any ideas on what I need to do? Or is it a case of returning it to Apple?
    Thanks for any response

Is the battery FULLY charged? If not, charge it and then see how it reacts...make sure Wi-Fi is off while you do this--I've noticed weird things when it's docked and plugged into my TV (with the new dock) and wi-fi is on--I get battery messages randomly and it eventually shuts down (even though it's plugged into a dock with power, that came from Apple and is the "latest and greatest"...)

  • IOS 8.1 installed yesterday has spoilt my iPad 2! There are no keyboard, message or app sounds, performance is now sluggish, juddery and strange, battery is draining fast and it no longer security locks when put to sleep.

I am so cross because iOS 8.1 installed yesterday has ruined my iPad 2! There are now no keyboard, message or app sounds, performance is slow, juddery and strange, the battery is draining fast and the iPad no longer security locks when put to sleep.  I have checked all the settings, done a number of resets and really wish I hadn't bothered and stayed with iOS 7 when it all worked like a dream.  I thought that by waiting until 8.1, teething problems would have been fixed and I am just horrified that there is no going back!  I am not the only iPad owner that has this set of problems so why didn't you warn us Apple!  What are you going to do to help us?  I do not want to be forced into buying a newer version of iPad because you broke this one!

In spite of the fact that you said you checked the settings, I still believe that you have system sounds muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

AS for your other issues, have you done any other troubleshooting like resetting your iPad, resetting all settings or doing a complete factory reset?

  • My 3gs (11 months old) has been losing all signal

my 3gs (11 months old) has been losing all signal for calls and both 3g/wifi, goes to "searching" then "no signal", and back to some signal but not for long at all. i upgraded to ios5 couple of wks ago but this was all happening before that, was hoping the upgrade would help, but noooooooooo! battery power has gone so bad in last few days too, charging up to 3 times a day!! cant afford a new phone so any help would be really appreciated.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.

Ignore the MacKeeper ad no matter what else you decide.
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Just sits there occupying very little space & never interfering, unless you need to invoke it in Single User Mode.

  • G4 mirror/when put to sleep computer shuts down, power up problems

I'm having some strange problems here, and I've looked through the topics and I can't find one that exactly fits my issues.
Recently my mac shut off when I put it to sleep and It would not turn back on, also the button would not light up when pressed. I unplugged it, checked the power source and when I plugged it back in the button light would come on when immediately touched and then go out, again not starting(note: my external hard drive comes on and after a few seconds shuts off). After trying it several times I gave up. About 4 hours later I tried it again and it started.
This has happened every time I've either shut down or put it to sleep. I feel very uncomfortable leaving my computer on all the time.
I tried the PMU reset my mac immediately started up, I thought problem solved until I put it to sleep again. Shut down wouldn't start up.
Exchanged batteries with the exact same computer from work, did a PMU reset, the Mac started right up. Put it to sleep same deal.
I am buying a new battery today.
I find it strange that when the mac is immediately shut down either by me or when it goes to sleep, the button light won't come on unless I unplug it from the back and replug it in. Then the button light will come on but not necessarily start up. I sometimes have to wait hours or it will come back on immediately.
right now its a crap shoot.
    please help if you can.

Yuk. I don't even like to discuss this, but depending on the service, the filter caps in the psu and many other places in the system wear out and start causing problems. I would start monitoring voltages coming from the psu to the mother board using a digital multimeter. You can probe the white connector from the psu to the mother board from the top of the connector using a paper clip or dental pick on the connector pins. I believe this diagram is applicable to most of the ppc Macs:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58561
Also consider that your drive may be at fault here. My DA does not like to be put to sleep. It does strange things when put to sleep.

  • IPhone will not charge when plugged into computer

My phone was not working, and so I took it to the apple store nearby. Here were the problems:
-error message saying "this device not made to work with iPhone"
-would not charge when plugged into computer OR wall charger
-person on other end of phone calls said i sounded really far away and had trouble hearing me
-when i shut it off, it restarts itself immediately
-cant do a manual reset holding the power and center buttons at same time
-when plugged into the computer, mouse freezes, and a message appears saying ""power surge on hub port A usb device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port."
At the genuis bar they told me they cant help me cause that little water damage indicator inside the headphone hole is pink instead of white! I have never ever ever ever ever EVER gotten my phone directly wet. The only thing i could think of was the humidity in the bathroom when I'm taking a shower, and using the timer to use hair remover on my legs lol. But i think this is totally unfair, they wont repair my phone, or even really look at it because of this supposed water damage. My phone has worked fine up to this point, and the thing that happened that started all of this is when i dropped it about a foot off the ground in a DRY parking lot.
Is there any way they will replace my iphone at no charge?

Well don't give up try again maybe your luck will change when you go back up there, let somebody else look at your phone not the same person that told you that.I would get a second and a 3rd option about my phone. When you go back don't even tell them what somebody already told you up there ones.
And after the 3rd time I'll ask them well can they send your phone off to be fixed,It might not be nothing wrong with your phone it might be just they eyes playing tricks on them.Cause I promise you I know my phone had gotten some water in it cause I was sitting on the porch one day me and about 6 other people one of my cousin came out and through a bucket of water at my brother and I was sitting right on the side of him.And when I say my phone look like I than gave it a bath witch when they did that I had already had call the Apple store and told them something was wrong with my phone. And they had gave me appt to come up there,so I went to the Apple store I wanted say two day's latter after I made the appt to let them see my phone but my cousin and brother was playing with that water the day before I had to go so I guess that's why I was mad cause I was going to get other phone the next day after apple look at my old phone. So even with all that they still gave me other phone and I don't see how I didn't have no water in my phone cause of how much water they had through on my phone.
I guess I was luck cause if they would have told me that I would have freaked out so badly. And the reason why cause I wouldn't had my phone for five days and for them to tell me they couldn't do something oh yea they would have done something cause I would have went to jail that day for tearing up something in the store that worth my 400 and something dollars I spent on my phone and it would have bent one of them computer that would have bent history.
But I'M telling you,you going to be okay don't give up.Make you other appt and see what they say.

  • System crashes when put to sleep or restart

My system crashes when put to sleep or when I click re-start. This also happens when applications start and need to take over the entire screen. Once it crashes, I cannot start the computer for approx 5 minutes. I cannot re-start in safe mode because it also crashes. I cannot start with the application disc because the dvd drive pops open when I start the system. I have tried shutting the system down from the menu bar and the screen exits to the desktop window, but doesn't shut off. I have used disc utility to repair permissions and have re-set the pram, but the problem remains. I have a G4 gigabit/ethernet, running OSX 10.4.11, with an Apple Studio Display and ATI Radeon 9000 Pro graphics card. This has been going on for a while - I am not sure if it started when I installed OSX tiger or when I added two new ram memory chips (I have four added, 2 512 SDRAMM and 2 128 SDRAMM). Please advise. Thank you.

I am not sure if it started when I installed OSX tiger or when I added two new ram memory chips (I have four added, 2 512 SDRAMM and 2 128 SDRAMM).
The absolute first step in troubleshooting is to remove the recently added RAM.
That will remove question regarding the RAM.
Have you tried a Safe Mode boot (hold Shift while booting)?
This will allow for automatic system repairs. While in safe mode, does the sleep function work?
From Safe mode, does the restart function work?
If after removing the RAM, and after Safe mode, the problem persists, a PMU reset may be worth trying.
The PMU controls all power functions, sleep and shut down and start. Corruption in the PMU will cause problems with these functions, and a reset will clear this up if the PMU is the root cause.

  • MBP Shuts down immediately when put to sleep

    Hi all,
When I either close the lid on my MacBook Pro or put it into sleep mode, or let it go into sleep mode on its own [overnight], it will shut down immediately with no warning. I've searched high and low to solutions to this problem. I've reset the SMC, no luck.
    Help?
    Matt

    Hi Matt
Does it shut down so you have to boot from nothing, or does it show the last screen from before sleeping, in a greyed-out fashion? Your machine might be going into deep sleep and not just a nap.
