Iphone, Mac Account Not Connecting

A message says "connection to server failed", but all my account settings look correct and haven't changed.  I get mail, through my gmail account but the mail on my mac account stopped a few weeks ago and won't come through. They show up fine on my other computers.   The problem is I just am not getting them on my iphone.   Does anyone know what's the fix is  for this?

Hi,
iMessages
The Messages app can have the iMessages account set up with an Apple ID which is usually an email nowadays.
Then you can add the Apple ID to an iPhone and the Mac versions will get a pop up saying that the iPhone is using it's Number AND the Apple ID and accepting the Pop up adds the iPhone Number to the Mac version's "Receive At" list and creates the drop down for "Send From" at the bottom of the iMessages pane.
You can add other emails in the Mac version (Messages > Preferences> Accounts > iMessages) or to the iPhone and it will be synced by pop ups across devices (If you accept them)
There is then no way to tell which IDs or iPhone numbers are working apart from a process of elimination about which device can use an ID to Send and which devices are syncing that ID as well.
Other Messages Accounts
Obviously you Google Email ID can be used in the Google set up as  Jabber ID. However you have to enter the name as it appears when you log in the the Google web Mail page (@googlemail.com and @gmail.com are different as far as Messages or iChat is concerned).
You could use your Yahoo email to create a Yahoo account in Messages.
There have been issues with logging in a Yahoo account over the past two or so week.
It can be very intermittent.
Apple ID that have been issued by Apple (@mac.com, @me.com (if linked to iCloud) and an @icloud.com one) as also valid AIM Screen Names.
With the older ones  (@mac.com and @me.com) there are limits to which iChat version you can use them with but they should be OK in Messages.
I would think you are talking about a Yahoo login.

  • Iphone POP accounts not connecting

All my mail accounts in my Mac/Mail application are working fine. But on my iphone, only my mac.com account is picking up mail and sending mail, the other pop accounts keep telling me it can not connect.

If no change after resetting network settings on the iPhone and/or after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, your iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with the macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network though. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?

My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?

Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).
What I have to determine is what has changed in the setup...from when it WAS working just fine with all devices.

I had this same problem with my new MBP 15", but only with the USB port on the left side. The USB port on the right side worked fine. Perhaps the ports on the left don't have enough signal energy for the iPhone.
Anyway, try using a different USB port, and if that doesn't work, perhaps you could try a powered USB hub.

  • The bluetooth on my Mac will not connect to my iPhone 6.

I am trying to connect my phone to my mac so I can use airdrop. The Mac will not connect to the phone. I checked my System Information and the Bluetooth on my Mac is LMD 0X4. I believe the problem is that it needs to be LMD 0X6. How do I upgrade?

You do not need to connect/pair the devices to use Airdrop. All you need to do is have Bluetooth on and on the same Wi-Fi network. • IPhone 5 will not connect to brand new MBA/iTunes. Error message is "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device."

    Hi!
I've had my iPhone 5 for just over a year now, and I haven't really had any problems since iOS7 was installed. I had a PC, with no connectivity problems between any of my Apple devices. Then FINALLY, I purchased my very first Macbook Air 13". I set it all up, updated all the apps, and made sure it was good to go. My iPhone was really low on battery one day, and I just happened to have my USB for it handy and thought I would just plug it into my computer to charge it. I figured I worry about syncing it later as I hadn't really had time to set it all up with iTunes on the new computer.
MY PHONE WENT CRAZY. It just started vibrating all over the table. Looking at the battery icon, it was flipping between charging and not charging, and occasionally the "do you trust this device" window would pop up on the screen, but it was still going crazy. iTunes opened up and these alerts saying "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device." and "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." All it was doing at this point was using up even more battery. But then the iPhoto app opened by itself on my shiny new Macbook and the vibrating stopped. It was charging and syncing! But not having iPhotos before on a computer weirded me out i hadn't decided exactly what I wanted to do with it, I closed the app. The phone went nuts again. ***. On a different day, I was trying to sync it again, and it worked. But only long enough to back it up on the macbook. W.T.F.
Plugging into any PC is no problem at all. The phone just connects and starts charging.
I've tried just about everything. All of my software is up to date, both on the mac and iphone. The USB cord is fine. I've reset the macbook with it plugged in and not plugged in. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled iTunes with the phone plugged in and not plugged in. I've reset all the contents and settings on my iPhone, as well as did a hard reset with it plugged in and not plugged in. My iPad has no problem connecting and it also has iOS7. It's just so weird though, that it starts connecting/disconnecting interchangeably as soon as I plug it into the computer, even when all my apps are closed. All this is leading me to believe that it must be some sort of issue between the devices' communication to each other. But I'm not sure if it's an iPhone, MacBook, or iTunes issue!
    HHHHEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!

  • IPhone 4 will not connect to macbook air via bluetooth. Message " not supported"

iPhone 4 will not connect to macbook air via bluetooth

Try the suggestions here >  iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X
    If nothing helped, repair permissions.
    Disconnect the iPhone.
On your Mac open Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Then select: Repair Disk Permissions
This process can take a few minutes.
When it's done, restart your Mac and connect the iPhone.
If that doesn't help, reset the PRAM >  About NVRAM and PRAM

  • TS4532 My iPhone V will not connect to a Microsoft Exchange server. It says that the User Name or Password are incorrect even though they're not and I can log on directly to Exchange using the web browser. The connection worked until IOS 6.1.2 was Install

My iPhone V will not connect to a Microsoft Exchange server. It says that the User Name or Password are incorrect even though they're not and I can log on directly to Exchange with the same parameters using the web browser.
I bought the phone when it came out last October. The connection did not work at first, then started without warning in December. It worked perfectly for 2 months then stopped again when IOS 6.1.2 was Installed.
    Help please!

I have forwarded these questions about the version of Exchange server that is being used and whether Microsoft host the mai themselves to the IT Dept but I will not get a reply from them until tomorrow.
In the meantime I have also tried:
Deleting and re-creating the account AGAIN!
And re-setting the phone (recommended as a solution to a similar problem with an iPad in another forum.
    But please remember that:
The phone would not connect for 2 months after I bought it
Then started working unexpectedly in December
Then stopped working again when IOS 6.1.2. was installed
Also why am I the only person affected by this when colleagues with iPhone 3s and 4s who use the same mail system are not (I am still trying to find one with an iPhone V to see if their's works).
Like I said I think that there must be a fault, either with my own phone or with iPhone Vs in general.

  • Someone stole my ipod i tryesomeone stole my ipod i tryed find my iphone but its not connected to the internet what can i do??d find my iphone but its not connected to the internet what can i do??

some one stole my ipod touch i tryed fin my iphone but its not connectes to thei nternet what can i do??

If you have previously set up/configured the FindMyIPod service in the iPod's settings, you might be able to track it that way by going to www.icloud.com and signing in with your Apple ID.  Then click the FindMyiPod icon.  This also requries that the iPod Touch be still powered on, connected to a nearby Wi-Fi network whose location has been correctly entered into Apple's location database) and not have been restored by somebody else who my have located the device.
Otherwise, I'm afraid you are out of luck and will need to look for it as you would anything else you lose. You should report the lost item to the local authorities and change any and all passwords to any accounts you may have set up or accessed with the device. Apple can do nothing to help.

  • IPhone 6 will not connect to MacBookPro via AirDrop

iPhone 6 will not connect to MBP Retina early 2013 via AirDrop. All iOS (8.3) and OSX (10.10.2) software is up to date.  The phone used to be able to connect. Now nothing. The MBP sees the iPhone. I have exhausted all of the remedies found online.  Checked to see if everything is switched on that needs to be switched on. No help.
Seems to me after going online and searching the problem I find I am NOT ALONE with this bug.  Are you listening Apple???  Fix it. Now. Screw the Watch and fix the bugs.

An iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7722
If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5458
