IPhone Mail app doesn't work. It signs me in but is always empty

It verifies my account but when I go to Mail it's completely empty. I refresh by pulling down and it says its been updated. I can't see anything not mail in my inbo or sent. It let me send and email I sent one to myself and never got it on my phone. I logged in on safari and I had received it so apparently it lets me send emails. I tried two different accounts and its the same thing. I even deleted each of them and created them again. And I restarted my phone. I played around with the mail settings and I just don't see why it's not working. Please help, thanks! :)

What kind of mail account is this? Is it POP, IMAP, Exchange? Who is your email provider?
Forgot this: Is the iPhone the only mail client that you use to retrieve the mail?

Ok after nearly going crazy I read something about someone having a problem with a program related to fonts not being installed. I started up font book and now my problem is miraculously resolved... This is good and bad. I don't know why having font book running would resolve my problem or know what font is causing the programs not to work. As far as I know I didn't disable any system fonts. And the problem doesn't happen when font book is running, which is confusing me.

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • Using GMail as the mail app doesn't work

I have Firefox 11.0, OS X 10.7.3 Lion. In Firefox, I go to Preferences / Applications, and set the default MailTo app handler as GMail. I restarted Firefox, when I click on a mailto link nothing happens (just the click highlight). I installed Google Notifier, and when I launch the Mail app, I made sure the default mail program is Google Notifier. Still doesn't work.

Interestingly enough, clicking a hyperlink from Safari works great - launches Firefox tab with a new message composed.

  • Apple mail.app doesn't work after joining google+

I use apple's mail.app to manage my multiple emails. on my main personal gmail i joined google+. ever since joining google+, mail.app no longer imports any email from that account. i can still send email through mail.app but no new received emails import into mail.app
    any help resolving this issue?

I found some solutions I find unacceptable in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1596183&tstart=0
For some people just restarting the phone seems to fix it. For others they have to do a complete factory reset and set up the phone as a new phone it appears as if something is corrupted in the backup, so restoing from backup will bring back the same issue.
This stinks because it means that you lose all your backed up information (except calendar and contacts, which are stored separately)
I'm still looking for an alternate solution.

  • Windows 8.1 Mail App doesn't sync Exchange account on desktop but does on laptop

I was referred to this forum by another Microsoft engineer, and while I do not believe this is where this problem can be resolved, I'm following his instructions.
I have Windows 8.1 on my desktop PC and an ASUS X205TA laptop. For several months, the three accounts I have under Mail (two Outlook.com accounts and one Microsoft Exchange work account) synced properly on my desktop.
In fact, the Mail app on my desktop worked fine with my Exchange account from the first time I used it under Windows 8 in 2012. The version didn’t seem to matter – whether it was Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1, the Mail app
connected to my Microsoft Exchange account simply by filling in my email address and password.
Sometime this past summer, however, in the July timeframe, the Mail app stopped synchronizing with my Exchange account. In an effort to repair it, I removed and attempted to reinstall the account. This time, it would not let me load the Exchange account, even
when including additional information (domain, server, user name, et. al.).
This past fall, I purchased the ASUS notebook with Windwows 8.1 installed, and I was able to successfully load my Exchange account in Windows Mail using just my email address and password, as well as the two Outlook.com accounts, and all three accounts synchronize
properly. When I went back to my desktop, however, I noticed that the Liberty email account was listed under my Mail app. Apparently, since my laptop and desktop configurations are registered under the same Microsoft account, when they synchronized, the Liberty
email account which I successfully loaded on my notebook appeared on my desktop system as well.
The Mail app on the desktop, however, still can’t synchronize with my Exchange account so, in effect, I’m back to where I was in July. I would also add that I'm running Microsoft Outlook 2013 on my desktop and laptop and, in both cases, all three of my email
accounts are installed and working properly.
I don’t know if this information gives you insight into what the problem might be, but it’s apparent that there’s something in the configuration of my desktop Windows Mail app that is causing the problem. It’s working just fine on my notebook.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Mail app multiple times, run the App Troubleshooter, and tried a Clean Boot installation of the Exchange account. None of these fixed the problem.
As I told the other Microsoft engineer, if this were an Exchange problem, I wouldn't be able to connect to my Exchange account in Outlook 2013 on my desktop and my laptop, nor would I be able to connect to my Exchange account using Windows 8.1 Mail
    on my laptop.
The problem is specifically with the Windows 8.1 Mail app on my desktop PC, and its sudden inability to sync with my Exchange account after it worked in every iteration of Windows 8 since 2012.
I have posted this issue in this forum as suggested, but my troubleshooting does not point to an Exchange problem, but rather a Windows 8.1 Mail app problem on my desktop PC.
    Can you help?

    Hello ronontheright,
Do you mean that only the Exchange account in the desktop Mail app can’t sync?
Please take a look at the following article.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/11/26/supporting-windows-8-mail-in-your-organization.aspx
Exchange ActiveSync can be used to sync data for email, contacts, and calendar. The Windows 8 Mail app supports Exchange ActiveSync.
Please open the Windows Store app Calendar and People to check if they can normally sync.
Please try to remove the account in Mail app and sign in again and check if the issue still exists.
    Best regards,

Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...sign back in with the ID you want to use.
Note: Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to originally obtain them. They cannot be updated using any other Apple ID other than the one they were originally obtained with.

  • IOS 8.1.1 iPhone mail app not working with Yahoo

Since upgrading my iPhone 4S to iOS 8.1.1 I have been unable to access my (UK) Yahoo mail account. Following advice from other posters I have tried deleting the account, doing a hard reset and then adding the account again. Also tried different settings for Push and Fetch but all to no avail. I have an iPad2 that I have also upgraded to 8.1.1 and I can access my mail ok on this although I have noticed that one of my mail folders is showing empty despite it containing many emails when I access it directly via Yahoo mail on my Windows laptop. To get round the problem on my phone I have resorted to downloading the Yahoo! Mail app and this works 100% ok. Can anyone please throw some light on this? Thanks

    Hi, Big Alma.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need more information regarding what issue you are exactly experiencing with Yahoo and your iOS device to provide a better answer.  However, here is an article I would recommend going through when experiencing issues with mail.  I would also recommend checking with your email provider for security procedures such as two-step verification as this could cause this issue.

I had the same problem all day. Everyone around me was getting through fine but I kept getting the "...try again later." message. Very frustrating! Tried all the usual things, restart, delete app and re-install, log out / in to App Store. Finally, I tried restoring the phone. I disconnected before answering the "Setup as new phone / Restore from backup" question, just installed the iPhone case app and it worked. Weird. I'm restoring from backup now but there may be something odd in my prefs or left over from my old first gen iPhone.
You're insane. The servers are probably just overloaded.

  • IPhone Mail App cannot connect with gmail iMap server

So my gmail address list or contacts seems to have been hacked and all my contacts who are still talking to me have told me so.
So I changed my gmail password.
No more complaints, and probably no more friends as contacts.
But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)
Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too)
    BUT
I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.
Any suggestions before I call Apple for help?
    Thanks
    Barry

    I think so.
Actually I think I need to get the App Password for Mail on my phone. It generates the app password and I enter it into the password in the gmail setup for mail.
The problem is that when I hit next on that page, I get the message:
"my name" is already added" and I cannot proceed.
Before doing this setup I deleted my gmail account by tapping the email address and hitting delete in the Mail, Contact and Calendars setup..
but, there is something hiding in my iPhone that remembers my old gmail password (I guess) and doesn't let me proceed.
If I enter my gmail iChain password I get the same thing.
If i do this in airplane mode (no connection to google) i also get the same.
I talked to an apple care person who had me reset all my settings... still the same thing.
I am trying to avoid a gull reset of the iPhone, but that may be in the cards.
Going to go to the apple store and ask there, but i am not hopeful.

  • Iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing???

Anyone seeing this issue?  Advice re how to fix?
My iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing.  That is it is running (doesn't crash) but will at time just stop getting email updates.  I then have to force close the mail app (i.e. kill it) and then restart it.  After restarting it the mail flows again.
    Notes:
    a) I do connect to Gmail for my mail - I'm using the IMAP facility for gmail currently (i.e. not the "Exchange" method)
    b) I do also have the Google "Gmail" app running on my device too
    c) on iPhone 3GS, latest version of IOS

I have this same problem too.  I have both a hotmail and work Microsoft Exchange account setup on my iPhone and have intermitent issues with both.  Sometimes the hotmail push works, but my work email doesn't push, other times it's backwards, and sometimes neither work.  I can't figure it out.  Usually restarting the app (closing out of the multitasking bar), and/or going into settings and disabling the affected mail account works.  And to top it, I have an iPad, I'll hear the mail chime go off on my iPad, expecting it to go off on my phone....and it never does, not until I manually fetch it.
    Very frustrating.

  • My weather channel app doesn't work and freezes my phone

My weather channel app doesn't work and freezes my phone.  I've tried closing the app.  Also tried deleting and readding it.  All my other apps work.

    Try this:
Make sure your iPhone is fully updated.
    Restart your iPhone
Do NOT open the app, just delete it
Reset your iPhone (hold down sleep/wake and home buttons simultaneously until you see an apple logo, then release the buttons)
    Readd the app
    Open the app and test.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, then it may be an issue with the app itself and you might have to contact the app's developer.

  • Reg iPhone Mail App (downloading of emails)

    Hi,
Does iPhone download the entire email when we check for emails?
    Scenario:
    - Open iPhone mail app
    - receive 10 emails
    - open the email to read the contents
    - get ‘loading’ icon..seems as if that’s when it’s trying to get the email
    - the contents received in few seconds depending on the email
    - move on to next email…and see the same loading icon
Is it that mail app downloads just the headers and the content is downloaded when you actually open that particular email? Ideally, I would like the email to be downloaded completely to my phone…this way I can quickly check my emails and move across the messages.
I believe Blackberry works differently where the entire email is downloaded and only attachment is downloaded when you try to access it.
    Thanks,

I have just received the new iphone 4th generation. I have a data plane for 200mb per month.
My question is wether iphone downloads the whole email message or if it downloads only the headers? If it downloads the whole message, can I opt for only the headers?
It seems from the first day of use it downloads all messages including the attachments and thus my data usage is huge. In my old Nokia phone only when I required to read the email it will go ahead to download the whole message-is this possible with iphone?
    Marios.
