IPhone makes charging noise and signal when charging but percentage won't increase
I have been having difficulties with my iPhone 4 lately. When I plug it in (both to the AC adapter in an outlet or my iMac), it makes the charging noise and gives the charging signal on the battery in the top right corner of my screen. However, the percentage never increases. I currently have no programs running.... and I just purchased a new USB cord at the Apple store. My previous iPhone 4 wasn't charging at all, so I got a new one. However, now this phone is having charging issues as well. Any suggestions as to why this is occuring or what I can do?
I would start by resettign the iPhone and seeing if that helps. Next, I would try connecting it to an AC adapter which provides at least 1.0A of chargign current. It is possible that the computer port is only providing 500 mA (or slightly higher) charging current, and that might not be enough to charge the iPhone and power the screen at the same time.
I seldom (almost never) try to charge my iPhone from teh computer port, I use a wall adapter which provides 2.0A of chargign current, and I try to reset/reboot my iPhone at least once every few weeks, if not weekly...

Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album. These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer. If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar. Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices. -
My iPhone 4 wont turn on, It wont go passed the charging icon and then when I take the charger out it says it needs charge. Its not the charger as iv tried several and holding lock and home button doesnt work please help!!!!!

Particularly:
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

A few days after i've updated to iOS 8.1.1 my iphone 5s died and isn't turning on and its not charging. i have my legit charger that came with my phone and after 6 months it stopped working, i even have a charging case and that wont charge it. When I press the + and - buttons, the volume icon appears, but the slider is empty. When I receive a call, I hear it ring, and I can hear the ringtones in the sound menu. However, the message/mail notifications don't make any noise, and I can't hear the sound menu.
- During a phone call, if I put the conversation on speakers ==> it works and the volume bar reappears. I can control the volume with + and - buttons. But when the conversation is over, the bar disappears again.
- With the headphones, everything is ok!
- I also noticed (only a few times) that when I do a silent to ringer mode, the volume slider reappears and works correctly during 2 or 3 seconds, before disappearing again.

I have an iPhone 4S that won't charge. I have tried with 5 different cords and 2 wall plug but it won't connect. It will work if I plug and unplug my phone for 20 minutes. Please help me! Do I need a new phone or is this something that can be fixed?
Clean out the charging port--make sure there's no dust or debris in there. If that fails to solve the issue, bring the phone to Apple for evaluation.

I went to use my iPhone 5 (I had used it just minutes before) and it wouldn't work. It was about half charged and seems to have shut itself off. I tried charging it and turning it on but the screen remains completely black. What happened?
Try resetting. Hold the sleep wake button (on the top edge), and the home button (round button on the front with the white square) at the same time for 10-15 seconds. If you see the apple logo, let go. Your phone should restart. If not?

My iPhone 5S won't show up in iTunes to sync. It charges still and it opens iPhoto, but doesn't even register in iTunes. I have no idea what to do and nothing is working!
And the other night while i was trying to sync my phone, it was working until "Error message (-50)" started coming up every time i tried to sync or update my phone's software through itunes on my computer. eventually, itunes quit and i unplugged my phone and updated it wirelessly. i have no idea why any of this is happenings. I saw your other post, but thought I would reply here as well. It is all about getting that headset seated all the way. If you can see any silver of the plug, it is not in far enough. Push harder. If it just won't go in, look in there to see if it is blocked. The bottom of the headset port is white, so if it appears all dark at the bottom... something is in there.
