IPhone memory filling up when Transferring Purchases

I am having problems when trasnferring purchases from my iPhone 5 to iTunes.  I have around 1GB of space left on my iPhone.  But when I transfer my purchases, the 1GB becomes zero bytes for some odd reason, so the transferring process gets cancelled because "there isn't enough free space on my device."  I don't know why this is happening.  I tried rebooting my iPhone, and when I checked the usage statistics, I had my 1GB, but when I attempted to transfer purchases agian, the memory usage when back down to zero.

It isn't really polite to clog up the tag cloud; it just makes tags less useful to everyone. One or two tags should be sufficient.
It happens because the phone must make a copy of each app to be transferred. The copy is deleted once the transfer is complete. So you can solve the problem by temporarily deleting some iTunes music, complete the transfer, then put the music back.

  • Why is my iPad storage space filling up when transferring purchases to iTunes?

    Hi there,
    Hopefully somebody can help.
I recently bought an iPad & it's been great, but I noticed when I was Transferring my purchases from my Pad to my Mac, my iPads disk space starting filling up under the 'Other' catagory.
Why is it doing it? Surely it shouldn't be putting anything on to my Pad?
Now my storage space is almost full, but I have nothing on my iPad that wasn't there before.
    Thanks for your time.
    Paul

Okay, first thing is to look at all your iTunest tab settings like music, movies, podcasts, etc... to make sure you don't have it set to automatically download new content onto the iPad.  If so, anything you've purchased on your computer will then turn around and try to load itself onto your iPad.
The next thing would be to do a restore to factory settings and then re-sync using your most recent backup, assuming you have a good backup.  Once in a blue moon the data on the iPad can get corrupt somehow and give all kinds of false readings on how much memory is being used, etc...  The restore usually fixes it.
    Best.

  • Songs deleting when Transferring purchased songs from iPhone to computer!

When I transfer purchases from my iPhone to my laptop the process does not always seem to work. On a few occasions, it appears to have completed. But when I check iTunes on my computer the purchases are not there and try are also deleted from my iPhone! So I'm left with nothing. Does anyone know a way to restore purchased content to your iPhone?
    Thanks for your help!

    Update iTunes on your computer.
On the iPhone, open up the iTunes app.  See Purchased at the bottom. Find your movies and you should be able to redownload for free.
On the computer, get into the iTunes Store, in the top right column, it says Purchasd. Again, you should be able to download them.

  • Itunes freezes when transferring purchases from ipad

Can 't trasfer purchases or syng my ipad with itunes, it just freezes

    Hey there wbh1967,
If I understand correctly when you are trying to transfer your apps and content from your iPad to your computer, iTunes quits unexpectedly every single time but your iPhone works without issue. To start troubleshooting the software on the iPad,  I would start by quitting all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that reset the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes and then restore it as a new device and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.
You can always download your purchased apps from the iTunes store to your computer directly using the "Download previous purchases on Mac or PC" section from this article:
    Download past purchases
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Why do I run out of space when Transferring Purchases?

There have been many instances when I'm moving the apps from the iPad to the computer through iTunes for syncing purposes and the iPad ends up being "stuck"  since a dialog box from the iPad pops up warning me of no memory left. Why is it losing memory when it's transferring? How do I avoid this? It's happened when I have had 2gigs left on the iPad.

2 things.  The process of transferring apps involves making a copy, then sending it.  The copy uses up space.
Second, if you only have 2 gig open, you will likely run into other similar issues.  Any computer needs some headroom for temporary finds etc.  the old rule of thumb is 10 pct of space.  So you may need to clear some stuff out, just to give your pad room to maneuver.

  • Error message when transferring purchases

When I try to transfer my ringtone purchases to itunes from my 3GS I get a error message..." Attempting to copy to the disk 'Macintosh HD' Failed. The Disk could not be read to or written from". My ringtones were purchased directly from the iTunes store on the phone. now if I need to restore the phone it warns me I'll lose the ringtones and have to purchase them again..... Help !

Apple Support contacted me and instructed me to update my Apple ID. A simple change in my username seemed to fix the issue.

  • ITunes 10 NAS disconnecting when transferring purchases

    Hi,
I have the following iTunes setup. Mac Mini, Snow Leoprad, Qnap NAS. My iTunes library and files are all located on the QNAP NAS. The share is connected via an automator program on startup.
This setup worked perfect and without any problems until today, when I discovered a strange behavior in iTunes 10.
After purchasing an album, the files start to download and then all of a sudden, the share gets disconnected.
I have to close iTunes, reconnect the share again and restart iTunes again.
The file that was downloaded while the share disconnects can not be finished and I had to contact store support for new delivery.
There are no problems while playing songs etc.
    Any ideas or similar problems?

I have iTunes 10 on a Netgear READYNAS with the identical symptoms including very slow (unusable) performance.
ReadyNAS contains all iTunes directories and data
MacBook connects to NAS via CIFS and Wi-Fi

  • Edited photos from iphone 4s not saving when transferred to computer!!!

How come after I enhance my photos on my iphone4s and I transfer them to my computer, the changes don't save? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of editing them from your phone? Can this be fixed?

I am having the exact same problem. I am transferring photos via icloud to my windows 7 PC, some pictures I can rotate and others I can't. I get an error about file properties, even though the file properties are the same as the photos I can rotate. This is definitely some kind of bug.

  • Why does my memory fill up if i am not saving anything?

My memory filled up and I started deleting pictures and movies.  When I deleted them my memory filled up, when I went to check what memory was being used, it said other had 78 gb.  What is going on?  Also when I went back on my computer later the momery filled up without me doing anything.  Please help...

If you deleted photos in iPhoto app, it has it's own trashcan than must be emptied.  Locate it on the sidebar of iphoto, right click and empty trash.  This will put it in the system trashcan which then needs to be emptied.
    Same thing with iMovie.

  • When recently syncing my iphone, itunes asked me something regarding transfering purchased items or something.. I foolishly didn't read it properly and now I can't get purchased songs from iTunes back on to my iPhone... Please help!!

    Hi,
When recently syncing my iPhone a message came up regarding transferring purchases or something.. In haste I pressed the wrong reply.. My phone synced, but removed all of the songs I purchased on my iPhone. Although they are still on my iTunes and I can play them.. but they will not sync back to the iPhone what so ever.. I'm stressed out big time and can't believe I was such an idiot lol!! Had a look at a few forums.. But they seem to be about transffering from Iphone to Itunes...
    Please Help xxx

At the AT&T store. Tried using iCloud but only 120 songs were transferred and when I access my iTunes account now it only shows 120 and not the 450 anymore that I purchased on my old phone. Tried to sync again from the phone to iTunes and it still not working.
I purchased everything under the same apple ID account I called apple support and spent almost 2 hours with tech support for assistance and we got disconected and they never called me back.
I'm at the point where I'm about to never purchase anything anymore from apple go to another company retrieve every single charge made on my bank account from iTunes and file a law suit against the company. It's being a week that I called for assistance and no one called me back to help me with this matter even after I responded a survey with a complaint about not getting a resolution to my problem.
If you could please help me I will appreciate, I'm out of the country now and can't stay on the phone for a long time.
I need to sell my old phone but as right now besides all my bank statements the old phone is the only evidence that I purchased the songs.

  • HT204053 Can you merge two Apple IDs into one?  It was a common issue caused by the iPhone 4 and has been corrected, but transferring purchases in iTunes is a pain with two IDs.

For a brief time when iPhone 4, iOS 4 came out, many of us ended up with two Apple IDs.  I want to know if anyone can please provide me with simple step-by-step instructions on merging two Apple IDs into one?  It would make transferring purchases on iTunes much easier and reliable.  I realize i desperately need an iOS update, but i had no laptop for over two years!  I'm posting a cry for help on that in another community.  Thank you all.

    No,
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
