Done these list of instructions on how to find the AirPlay symbol to enable mirroring on your iPhone 4S and iPad2

Well...never mind. The last thing I did is the first thing I should have done. I rebooted and the icon showed up. All is good now. Thanks anyways.

How to create adhoc Wifi Hotspot with iPhone to connect Apple TV for Mirroring and Airplay?
I don't want to use my iPhone to share or tether my iPad or laptop etc. with my cellular data plan.
What I want is to create a hotspot with my iPhone (or iPad) so that I may connect my Apple TV to the adhoc network so I am able to stream video and music from my iPhone to the Apple TV.
I do presentations in front of live audiences and want the ability to mirror my iPad or use Airplay to stream video and photos to the Apple TV without connecting to a public WiFi network.
The apple TV is so small, I just tuck it into my bag with an HDMI cable and I am able to tap into LCD projectors and flat screens and use keynote or video from my iPad so my audiences can see my presentations.
Seems pretty simple. But I cannot activate a hot spot on my iPhone without signing up for AT&T's service. Fact is, I have no need to tether my iPhone or iPad, I just want to create an adhoc Wifi network solely for the use of my Apple TV.
I posted this question to the iPhone discussions as well, but thought someone here has wanted to do the same thing.
Someone suggested just bringing any WiFi router and connecting devices to that. But that's not a solution. It's about mobility and simplicity and not creating a larger footprint.
Thoughts?I am a presenter and I do what you want to do. I use an apple tv as the presentation device that connects to the projector. Basically you define a wireless network ahead of time (using your iPad or iPhone and the Airport Config App) and let your iDevices connect to it and know the details ahead of time (so they will auto connect later).
You have a couple of options of connecting the airport express to the apple tv. I basically stacked them and used an ethernet cable but you can define the wireless connection also. I then strapped them to the projector (which I travel with) and used an HDMI cable from the apple TV to the projector.
Sometimes I present from my iPad...sometimes I present from my iPhone. Sometimes I present from my iPad but use the remote app on the iPhone to see the next screen. Now with Mountain Lion you could even present with a Macbook Pro (not needed though)
Wanna hear the coolest thing? When I want to demo something on the iPad instead of just showing the screen remotely using Airplay I use an App on the iPhone called Air Camera directed down at my iPad screen. The Air Camera sends the video to the Apple TV using Airplay and people are able to see my taps by seeing my fingers.
Another cool thing in a classroom setting with other iPads you are able to let people know your Wifi password and then display their iPad screen up on a projector to ask a question about something or demo something.
So for the extra $99 dolars for the Airport Express and a few minutes setting it up, wammo you have it!
One last note. If you actually do have wired internet at the podium you can connect it to the WAN port of the Airport express and all your iDevices would in addition have internet access. If you need internet access for all the devices and you are presenting in a place without internet then you have to bring a wireless hotspot in place of the airport express. This works equally well (again just setup the connection from the iDevices to the wireless hotspot ahead of time)

if you can find a device which take in optical audio from the Apple TV and make it bluetooth to the bluetooth speaker then suppose it would work
but since it would need to be configured it would need controls or a webserver like a router has so very expensive -

Step 1
Connect your iPhone directly to your Mac using your Lightning to USB cable.
Step 2
Open QuickTime Player and choose File > New Movie Recording
Step 3
Select your iPhone as the Camera using the dropdown menu to the right of the record button
Now your phone should be mirrored onto your Mac.
You do not need to use the Apple TV -
my iphone 4s doesnt have the slide option to turn on mirror on apple tv...after ive double clicked the button and scrolled left twice, i see the symbol and click into it but theres no mirror option??
is the latests ios version installed?
if so then are you 100% sure you have an iphone4s because if you have an iphone4 it would be absent because Iphone4 don't support it
mind you iphone4 are still being sold -
Since installing iOS6.1 I can no longer mirror my iphone to my apple tv. Previously you would double click the home button and swiped until you reached the volume bar. You could then select any airplay device, and if it was an apple tv you could mirror your device.
With the new iOS6.1 it only shows a new volume bar and all other features are gone.
Anyone know a workaround?

Took several restarts of iphone and feature reappeared.

It's only the iPhone 4S and 5 that will allow mirroring, earlier models will allow basic AirPlay. -
Ipad mirroring onto tv but iphone mirroring will not even though it's on airply

The iPod does not support mirroring.

IPhone mirroring switch missing
I have an iPhone 4S IOS 6.1.3 and an Apple TV (2nd ogeneration) with TV software 5.3 (6105)
I have rummage through many posts, but have found no solution to the missing mirroring switch.
On my iPhone 4S, I scroll to the left and find the volume bar with the AirPlay icon, But when I push Apple TV there is no switch to change to mirroring!
I have the AirPlay icon which shows iPhone, Apple TV to and my DENON (AVR – 1912) but again, the mirroring option is missing under Apple TV.m
I can:
Use display mirroring with my Mac mini server late 2011 edition
Stream music and videos from iTunes And the iPhone 4S (under movies) and again, the Mac Mini has no problem with mirroring.
My wireless network comes from my Apple Airport extreme base station and my iPhone 4S is connected to the same.

Thank you for providing the details about the issue you are experiencing. It sounds like you are missing the mirroring switch when trying to AirPlay from your iPhone.
I recommend following steps in the tutorial below to address an issue like this (you can skip step 2 "Recharge iPhone" because it's not related to this issue). I specifically think resetting the iPhone will help if you have not tried that already:
To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Had you looked in the User Guide, you would have found this: Settings>Store. Tap on AppleID to change.

ThanksWithout contract is not the same as unlocked. The update to iOS 7 relocked
the iPhone to the wireless carrier to which it was originally locked. You must
contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If you used jailbreak or other hack to unlock the iPhone initially, the method
used may prevent a legitimate unlock from succeeding and may render your
iPhone unuseable. -

I have a new powerbook and want to give my girlfriend my old G4 power book, she has a new iphone 5s, and wants to create a new itunes/apple id. When i try to de authorize the G4 and sign in with her new apple ID it says bad password, how can i release the G4 from my cluster of authorized apples and make her the owner so she can download music and more importantly sync her music with her phone, she only has 3 songs on her iphone, and loaded all her CD's into the g4 but cant sync, im no dummy and this shouldnt be hard, but its driving me crazy!!!!!!
