IPhone, MobileMe and iCal ToDo?

Hi,
Basically I'm not sure wether my question fits in this category or MpbileMe or iCal.
To the point... I'm still in trial period of MobileMe and as far as I saw, "the thing" is quite cool (I'm just waiting the iDisk app). Before leaving the office I entered a few ToDo things for upcoming days in calender on me.com.
Now I'm wandering, where on my iPhone (3G, OS 3.0) can I see this ToDo list? Did I miss something?
I checked all applications Calender, Notes... but I cant find or see my ToDo list!?
Many thanks in advance for any tip or suggestion,
M

You can't find it because it isn't supported.

That first link suggests Appigo as a workaround---Apple does open up the iCal data so that other apps can pull it from your computer and then sync it to the phone (I believe, I don't use iCal todos myself)

  • Event entered on iPhone not making it to mobileme and iCal

Since the 2.1 update, events entered in my iphone are not making it to mobileme or my laptop. Nor is it going the other way (laptop to me and iphone.) Any suggestions appreciated.

Just deleted the account on my iphone and set it up and it seems to be working again. Also got all my ical colors correct across the 3 platforms.

  • Syncing iPhone with MobileMe and iCal

I know that when I'm set up right the changes I make on one device (iPhone, iCal, MobileMe) sync to all other devices. Here is my question. iPhone calendar *****; so, at work I want to be able to create calendar events on my personal Mac and sync through iTunes (Mac will not be connected to internet and I can't access MobileMe from work computer). I need to be able to create recurring events that are custom (beyond the bare-basic the iPone calendar offers).
Can I use the option to sync with iCal through iTunes while Mac is not connected to the internet and still use MobileMe? I have tried this but keep getting duplicate calendar and contacts entries.
Do I have to use one or the other?

Doing both does nothing but duplicate the calendars and calendar events on your iPhone. When doing both, each is synced and stored separately and differently on the iPhone. The calendars and calendar events synced direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process are stored separately and not synced over the air with your iPhone and vice-versa.

  • Mobileme and ical not syncing

Mobileme is broken and not opening ical when I am signed in.  mac and iphone and macbook can't sync ical with each other.  the round disc just runs and runs until it times out with error message.  This is on discussion boards and wide spread.  When will it be fixed.
I want to wait until more kinks get worked out before going to icloud and you said ical would continue to work.
    please update.

iCal issue - Where are they hiding?
Posting here as this is the closest I can find to my issue..
Two, maybe more, Birthday Events appear on my iPhone but not on/in iCal on my macbook.
Tried clearing the iphone and resyncing. Same condition.
Tried removing the cache from iCal and resyncing using the replace calendar option in iTunes. Still no good. Have checked the the full listing of all events on iCal.
Where can these two events be hiding ? Not a huge deal, but now really curious.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

  • MobileMe and iCal

I just started using MobileMe. I added something to my Macbook calendar. How long does it take to update on the iPhone and iPad? Is there something else I need to do?

    See the thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2660893&tstart=15
Whatever changes you make must be on the me.com calendar on your Mac, not on the "On my Mac" calendar. On your home computer, on the lhs is a listing of calendars.
Be sure your iPad and iPhone are set up to sync with MM.
I haven't upgraded to the new iCal yet (I will before the drop dead date of 05/05) but my experience in the past has been that there are times when MM is very very slow to update IOS devices and times I had to power down and up my iPhone to get whatever new info I had entered. Hopefully, the MM cloud is working well these days.

  • Powerbook G4 and iphone sync and ical not updating

my ical does not update it's info when syncing with my iphone. I've selected that option for the calendar under info. also when entering new events in ical and then exiting then reopening the ical application the newly created event is not there? I've received all my mac updates. I've reloaded the os 10.5.8 software and still no resolution.

iPhone 3GS I think only supports Leopard and up.. Tiger I don't think will work.

  • Lost all contacts today, iphone, mobileme and computer.

Today, Friday, 1pm I watched contacts disappear from Iphone, also gone on mobile me and from address book. *** All gone.

In regards to contact info, the iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer.
Although contact info available in your iPhone's address book is included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated if needed as the first step during the iTunes sync process, it isn't a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for this data since other data available on your iPhone is also included with your iPhone's backup.
You should do as your iPhone is designed and that is sync contact info with a supported application on your computer, and maintain a backup of that data along with all the other important data stored on your computer that is included with your computer's backup.
With Windows XP and Vista, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007.
Or with the address book used by Outlook Express with XP or the address book used by Windows Mail with Vista - the name change for Outlook Express with Vista.
Use the iPhone as designed and intended in this regard and you won't have this problem - with your iPhone's backup as a last resort only in regards to this data, which should be available in a supported application on your computer.

  • Sync: Outlook - iPhone - MobileMe - iCal

I want to know the best way to achieve syncing between my Outlook Calendar (which is a work one and Active Sync is not turned on), iPhone, MobileMe and my Mac iCal.
I am currently doing it but it is very painful and only one way!
So i have to set all of my calender appointments up in Outlook then that is synced to Google Calendar via Google Calendar Sync (one way and two way causes problems) then Google Calendar syncs via Spanning Sync with my iCal on my Mac, then my iCal syncs with MobileMe, and then MobileMe Syncs with my phone!
It is very convoluted and not ideal, but someone on another site posted this as a workaround and so far it is the only thing i have been able to get to work.
But ideally i don't need a Google Calendar (there are way to many Calendars! I just want to sync (two way) between Outlook (work) - Mac iCal (home) - MobileMe - iPhone.

The problem is on my ical the Outlook calendar is dropped from the list of calendar some how.
I do not know how to  get it back on there . Yes I have sync service selected in outlook to my computer/ calendar .
I thinks it has so when the icloud  calender   got turned on some how and bumped my outlook calendar out.
It has been working flawless for over a year I did something with iCloud that started this mess.
None of that addresses my question,

  • Syncing from Iphone Reminders to Ical?

Is it possible to sync between Iphone Reminders and Ical or other app on Mac?

Thanks. I tried to set up icloud and then realized that without Lion (I have the last intel mac that won't work with Lion) it wasn't helping. So I tried to trun off icloud. So I am back to usb.

  • Ical, iphone (mobileme), google calendars and sharing...

My first question is as follow: I use googlemail at work and have a work calendar. I would like to be able to see that in ical (at home) and on iphone through mobileme. Is this possible? How?
Similarly, I have a personal calendar which i keep on mobileme (and in ical). I would like to be able to see this in google calendars. Is this possible?
Second question is I would like my husband to be able to see my personal calendar (mobileme). He has ical but does not have a mobileme account.
And is it possible for him to see a googlecalendar of mine on ical?
Thanks very much for any help you can offer.

There is a brilliant little App called 'Spanning Sync' which does just that! It syncs your iCal to your Google calendar and it is very easy to set up and use. However, it only lets you sync with one Google account per licence. If you need to sync to more than one Google account, you need to buy more licences. I use it very successfully and would recommend it to you without reservation.

  • Time in iCal are US (EST) but sync to MobileMe and iPhone as UK (GMT)

Time in iCal are US (EST) but sync to MobileMe and iPhone as UK (GMT). How can I correct this? I thought I had changed all my settings after I got back from the UK.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

Sorry, I re-read this and realized that my explanation of the problem may not have been clear. (I need to get more sleep)
When I add a new event into iCal on my Mac it shows up at 1:45pm EST. When the event syncs via MobileMe it shows up as 6:45pm (18:45) on my iPhone and in MobileMe online. How can I get the events to shows up at the correct time (1:45pm) on my iPhone and online?
    Thanks

  • Calendar AND ToDo AND iCal AND sync

I can not find any app that syncs with the ToDo list in iCal on my Mac.
*APPLE - Why can't you add this capability the Calendar app?* You have room for a "ToDo" button to the right of the "Month" view button. The All Calendar ToDo view in iCal is THE MOST USEFUL ToDo view in iCal and should be available to us on the iPhone.
It is extremely awkward to find ToDo items using the Mail app on the iPhone and almost as bad to use them in the Mac mail tool. Sync with Mail does NOT solve this problem.
Anyone else like this idea please add on.

There is no way top natively sync ToDo's with your iPhone. It's been a complaint since the very first iPhone came off the line. If you have a desktop GTD program like OmniFocus, you can get the iPhone version, and this syncs vis-a-vis iDisc or mobileme. Things has a similar setup that syncs through WiFi. Some People use the free Zenbe Lists program, but you must have an active internet connection on both your mac and your iPhone for this to work.
You've probably read about the work-arounds, like creating a contact called ToDo, and using the Notes field for your todolist which then can be edited on either end and synced.
BUt there is nothing that takes your tasks out of your iCal and puts them onto your iPhone and vice versa.
Even hundred dollar programs like OmniFocus can't do this (although you can set up a sync between OmniFocus and your iCal tasks -- but this has to be synced manually.
Besides the awful touch typing, it's the most complained about missing feature for any serious smartphone user.

  • Can I sync my iPhone calendar with exchange server AND ical on my mac ?

I have been happily using my iPhone synced with my Macbook over usb via iTunes.
I have contacts and iCal syncing. I have a number of 'calendars' set up in iCal which allow me to view separate aspects of home and work but they all exist within iCal. iPhone just treats these as colour coded appointments (different colour for each ical calendar)
I really like this set up.
However, I just changed jobs to a firm where they have a hosted outlook exchange set up and I need to use the exchange calendar for work appointments and showing my availability.
I have managed to setup my iPhone to work with the Exchange server for email as well as in apple Mail on my mac. This has all worked fine. However, I hesitated when iPhone asked if i wanted to sync my contacts and calendar. I said no as I was unsure if my private calendar/contacts would be uploaded to the public work area.
In fact it seems that this is the least of my worries:
As I have read on apple support for iPhone:
"Note that after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, all existing contact and calendar information on the iPhone or iPod touch is overwritten. Additionally, iTunes no longer syncs contacts and calendars with your desktop computer. You can still sync your iPhone or iPod touch wirelessly with MobileMe services."
So I am really pleased that I didn't let it sync those and wipe out my personal data if that is really true.
But now I am unsure how best to enable myself to view and update the work calendar on exchange.
Also it would be nice to see work contacts on my iPhone.
    Contacts
    - although i have said no to sync contacts with Exchange in fact it looks like I can get contacts ok - when i send email from the Exchange account on the phone , it searches Exchange contacts on the server as i type in the TO box.
    - also in Contacts on the iPhone I have a new group that has been created with the name of my Exchange account. The group appears to be blank when you go into it on the phone, but you can type in the search box and get contact details from the server just fine.
This seems workable for now for my purposes, although updating contacts is not going to be possible that way.
I'd like more info on that if poss but more importantly..
    Calendar
    - Unlike Contacts, no Calendar has been auto created for Exchange
    - Unlike contacts, I can't see how I can view or search or create an appointment in my Exchange calendar on the iPhone
What is the best solution to this problem - I presume lots of people face the same dilemma. My initial research suggests that there are multiple ways round this but all of them look like workarounds with various disavantages.
    Questions are
    - Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
    - Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
    - What is the best work around for this?
At the moment I am seriously considering getting a separate iPhone for work and have that sync with Exchange fully although that seems a bit drastic and does not solve the problem of seeing work and home appointments on the same calendar.

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

  • Toxic event in iCal crashes iCal, iPhone, & MobileMe

Somehow I've posted a "recurring" event in iCal that starts on 10/27/08 and ends on 10/19/08. This event appears three times on the calendar. When I delete it, it reappears immediately. My MobileMe, iPhone, and iCal all crash when trying to draw the day/week/month containing this event. How can I delete it?
I can open the edit panel, but it won't let me edit. I've tried changing the start or end date. And I've tried putting the event in a different calendar. It won't accept any edits.
