IPhone MPMoviePlayerController volume issues

Hi,
I've an issue with the iPhone MPMoviePlayerController and the volume.
. I'm in a OpenGL ES context
. I'm playing music using the code from the CrashLanding example
. I play a local video using MPMoviePlayerController which turn off my music.
. when the video ends, I can't listen to my music again nor I can't
play any sound.
I tried re-initializing my music, playing/stopping the song again without help.
Its like the volume is at 0, but it isn't.
any idea ?
Thanks!

Can you show me some of the code you're using?

  • Has Anyone sent the iphone in for repair for the low volume issue ???

I called apple last week and spoke with a level on support agent. After he could not solve the volume issue they sent me to level two. the level two tech took the call and told me right away that they were going to send me a new phone. I give him my credit card as a deposit so they would send a new phone and when I had the new phone I could then send the old one back. Well after a few days I called to check on the phone and found out he never placed the order and now they say they want to send it for repair some place in Texas. They did offer the rent me a phone for 29.00 while I wait for repair. I told them no rental for me. How bad is that, a hardware issue and they say they are going to send a new phone and never do then they offer a repair and to rent me a phone. I was wondering if anyone had sent in the phone for this issue yet. I do not think I am going to send it in and I think I am going to get my refund while I still can. I just thought I would check to see if anyone had sent the phone in for repair yet and how it worked out.
    Andrew

How are any of us (Apple users just like you) supposed to have any idea?
We weren't there.  We don't know the specifics of what happened to your iPhone.
Ask the store that repaired it.

  • Is anyone having volume issues with the new Iphone 4S?

Is anyone having volume issues with the new Iphone 4S?

Yes, the volume on my iPhone 4s will max out without me touching any button or setting.  When opening mail, for instance, the ringer icon will appear and the volume level goes to max volume - and I'm not touching the volume buttons.  It seems to happen randomly, at least I can't identify a pattern, but thankfully it doesn't happen all the time, but at least once a day.
    Anyone else seen this?

I have a new iphone6+  and have paired it to my 3 cars. When playing music from my iphone, the volume is very low and I have to turn the car volume to max to listen. I had no issues with previous iphone parings. Pls help.

Sorry if this is too basic or confusing
Apparently in iOS 8 there are different volume settings for different applications
The setting on the home screen does not carry over to Pandora for example and it is different ( or at least appears to be) for the in-car experience.
So I would try to stream the music when not in the car - see if you can turn the volume up and then try again in the car
Please let us know what happens
    Thanks

  • 2G iPhone Volume Issue

When I make a call or receive a call I can't hear very well when holding the phone ot my ear. I've pressed the volume toggle on the left side and it shows the volume going up but it doens't get any louder. Help I just got the phone 12/24 and I really can't use it to talk on!

this post saved my sanity. I, too, tried to keep the plastic on the phone to protect it, not realizing it was causing the volume issue. Thank you for the info! (My mom and co-workers are still laughing at me!)

  • Iphone 6 Sound Issue

    Hi
I have Iphone 6 . I just brought one from ATT. I was getting poor reception with iPhone 6 audio system . Speakerphone was worse. I was able to hear the other party speaking but person on the other end was not able to hear at all.
I went to ATT and returned the phone. I got new one from Apple store. Interestingly , it has the same problem. Fortunately the problem is not there with third party application like Viber . I have updated later I0S 8.02.
I believe it is the problem with IOS 8. Do you same problem too!!

    Hello there, Copilot10.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some practical steps for troubleshooting issues with switches on your iOS device:
Get help with buttons and switches on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the volume buttons, Ring/Silent switch, or Side Switch doesn't work
On iPhone, the volume buttons and Ring/Silent switch are on the left side of the device. This image shows these buttons on iPhone 6. The buttons on other iPhone models are similar.
On iPad, the volume buttons and Side Switch are on the right side of the device:
If any of these buttons or switches aren't working, follow these steps. Test after each step:
Unlock your device. Some buttons don't work from the Lock screen.
Check for debris or dirt around the button or switch and clean it with a soft cloth.
Remove all protective films and cases that might interfere with the button or switch.
    Get more help
If the button or switch still isn't working, if it works intermittently, or if it's damaged, contact Apple Support to set up service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Volume Issues - Too Loud & Too Soft

This is a problem I've had for awhile now. It's getting unbearably frustrating. Volume issues, where the default value for sound ranges outside what the iPhone should be capable of doing. So for example if the volume goes from 0% to 100%, my phone will be completely random and range from -50% to 150%.
How can it be less then 0% you might ask, when moving the slider mid way the volume is completely off and any lower doesn't make a difference, then I'll receive an email notification and BAM the volume goes up 300% and it's so loud it feels like the speaker is going to explode. This problem happens at any time but mostly after or while using headphones or car bluetooth.
Example of my issue in action, I'll plug AUX in the car into the phone, play music, driving along, randomly goes to half volume. I'll turn up the stereo to compensate, one minute later I'll get an email and the volume resumes to normal operating volume and I almost sh** my pants in fright.
Another example is I'll be watching a video late at night before bed on youtube or something with the volume all the way down, then the next morning my phone alarm will not sound or it will but insanely softly. The work around for this is to play music right before locking my phone with the volume up all the way. Just move the volume up all the way, play > pause and there you have it, volume working agian.
And one last example, randomly it goes really really loud. Like how is this possible loud. I'll dial a number and when pressing the buttons instead of a beep beep beep. I get fog horn BEEEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP. But as soon as the call starts the volume sets itself back to normal. Kind of like how when playing music without head phones with volume on max sets it back to normal.
    Things you should note:
Ringer volume has been locked to maximum, but quite often won't abide by this rule.
I've reset the phone and setup as new iPhone, problem still occurs.
Please don't give a solution like, "Have you checked your sound volume in settings". I'm not stupid.
Also, please don't give a solution unless you understand the difference between "Notification and Tone Volume" and "Media Volume".
Other then that. Please help, this is driving me mental.

I recently did the last firmware upgrade for my ipod nano 5th gen and can't set the maximim limit.
It can be set, but wont stick and I can still go above the limit.
Did something break with the firmware upgrade.

  • What move to make for iphone speaker volume

I have been reading all kinds of goods and bads about the iphones speaker volume over the last week. Yes ipod sounds good to me (Not to where I would ever wanna listen to it in speaker mode.) And NO, my speaker phone does not sound good. Way too low. Im starting to wonder if the people in the forums are saying theirs sounds fine because they have only tested it where there is silence. I'm not looking to be able to hear any speaker phone in the middle of a crowded bar, but I can not even hear it when it is all the way up and sitting beside me in the car, with the windows up. I find myself grabbing it and putting it right near my ear. So....... has anyone determined if this is a software issue or a hardware issue? Should I be bringing my iphone back or wait out the software update? I am surprised that with the release of the phone and all the questions being posted there is no portal for apple employees or techs to address some of these questions like a faqs page targeting some of the consistent questions over the last week. And don't get me wrong I love my iphone and i am not amongst the crew of people in these forums bashing it. Never owned a blackberry or treo or any of that stuff. I said years ago i will purchase something like that when apple puts one out. Never owned a pc in my life and I embrace this phone.

has anyone determined if this is a software issue or a hardware issue?
I assume since the iPod is capable of putting a fair bit of volume through the earpiece that it's a software problem. Have you turned-off volume limits in Settings?
Should I be bringing my iphone back or wait out the software update?
Tough call, if you're trying to decide by the 14 day window. Call Apple under warranty service, tell them if they can't guarantee a volume fix you're going to have to return the phone?
You can ask Apple for iPhone changes via this link:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

  • Ringer Volume and Conversation Volume Issue

It seems like I'm not the only one who is complaining about the volume of ringtone as well as conversation. I also have missed almost most of incoming calls due to above issue. My volume level is all the way up, but still not loud enough to be alert specially if I happened to place my phone in the case which blocks the speaker grill area. None of my previous 6 mobile phones had volume problem. Furthermore, it is almost impossible to have a conversation on the phone due to very soft volume of ear speaker on the top of the phone.
I know that these are hardware issues and I wonder if I could do anything to improve the functionality of this revolutionary phone.

I took my iPhone to the Genius Bar and explained that the volume was not loud enough and that the speakerphone was essentially unusable in nearly every situation. I also demonstrated that music and videos played very loud on my unit.
He asked if he could take the phone in the back room in order to place a call in a more quiet environment. I explained that this would defeat the purpose since you're almost never in a silent room but I finally agreed and off he went.
He returned and explained that while my iPhone's volume during calls was indeed quite low, it was not outside the normal operating level for all units and that Apple was aware of the problem and was working on a fix. That's about what I expected to hear but it's no less of a problem.
And don't even get me started on the signal quality and strength. It's abysmal. It's killing me because I really love every other aspect of the device. It's just a terrible, terrible phone.

  • IPhone 4S volume sometimes doesn't work ?

My iPhone 4S volume sometimes will stop working and the volume slider will disappear and go grey , the ringtones work and everything it's just very annoying !

    Hi Matthew. Lawless,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you do not hear sound from the iPhone speaker, try these steps:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • Iphone 4 volume buttons not working

iphone 4 volume and mute buttons not working, checked all settings they are all fine and when headphones in it works??? When I take out headphones the volum buttons do not work, when phone rings or text receives only vibrates???? HELP!!!!

This could be due to some debris or dirt inside the  headphones jack that makes the iPhone think that the headphones are connected even when they are not.
Try to see if you can clean the jack being very careful, with canned air as sold in electronics store.  Some people have been successful by introducing and withdrawing the headphones jack several times in a row to displace whatever is in there if it is lodged in.
Avoid introducing anything else like a pointed object.  You could damage the jack.
If all of this does not work, I would try first resetting the phone by holding the home button and the power button together for about 15 seconds or until the whilte apple appears, then waiting until the phone resets.  If the problem continues after this, take it to an Apple Store to see what they believe should be done.

  • Volume issues with GE60 Apache Pro-003

I recently picked up the new GE60 Apache Pro notebook, and I've been running it for about a week now. I should of course mention that I also did a clean windows install after adding an SSD to the system (and now can't figure out how to add back that cool MSI panel that was there when I first got the system).
Anyway, I've noticed that there seems to be volume issues with the system no matter WHAT kind of settings I tweak, or drivers I try to use. With all sliders up at maximum, the volume levels still never seem to surpass around 50% (from observing the volume gauges in the Windows Volume mixer panel). My previous notebook's speakers put out significantly higher volume, and was also able to put out far more power to my headphones (Audio Technica ATH-M50).
Any possible ideas for the cause and solution to this problem? Thanks in advance, and let me know if there is anything else I need to mention.

What are you using to gauge the '50%'? MP3's? Windows sounds? or what?
Pretty much everything. Music, games, online videos... According to the volume mixer, the audio levels never seem to pass 50%. The grey bar bounces to the peak, but the green bar never seems to pass the 50% level. It's as if there's some sort of limiter in place I'm not aware of. And since I reformatted the notebook as soon as I got it, I was never able to see if the volume control worked correctly before the reformat.

  • IPhone 5 Calendar Issue: January 1, 1995

I flew from the Eastern Time Zone into Central Time Zone, which is my home time zone, this afternoon, and tonight my iPhone 5 is telling me the date is January 1, 1995. Can anyone help explain why this is happening, and/or how to fix it? It sometimes switches back to the correct date, but only for a minute or less. I have restarted my phone twice and it has not worked, even when I kept my phone off for over an hour. When the date is January 1st, 1995, I cannot send texts, or go onto the internet, or use any apps using data. PLEASE HELP!!
    Much thanks
