IPhone - music why don't songs advance?

1 - I have my Iphone connected to the auxiliary jack in my car and it generally gives me no problem. Yesterday, for the first time, it just sticks on one song - will not advance to the next song whether shuffle is on or not. It's never done this before.
2 - And while we're on the subject, I can never tell when shuffle is on or not. How do you tell?

You can tell if shuffle is on/off by tapping once on the Now Playing screen. Song duration, genius, repeat, and shuffle controls will appear. Shuffle is the one on the right..If it's blue, it's on. Otherwise, it's not.

    1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
    2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

Perhaps, as my questions also intended, other users will start to "get" how unhelpful Adobe is and communicate that deficiency to them through this and other broader communities of users?

To roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the installer from here, uninstall iTunes. Probably best to also remove other suppporting software, e.g. Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support & Bonjour. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

    iPhone  4s why don't support iPhoto ?

According to the quote below from https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iphoto/id497786065?mt=8 it is optimized for iPhone 5 but only requires iOS 7.0 or later. I think it should work on a 4S -- what problem are you seeing?
Compatibility: Requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

    This is getting really annoying!

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • Why don't songs from CDs upload?

The promise of iTunes Match is that your music gets stored on the iCloud. Sounds OK. You pay about $25 a year, which, again seems OK. However, something seems very wrong with the service. When you subscribe, Apple looks at all your music. If a song is currently available in the iTunes Store, it pulls the song from there to put it in your iCloud storage. Again, OK w/ me. If a song is not located in the Store, they claim that they upload the song from your iTunes library and put it in the cloud. The songs that are not in the store are generally ones in your collection that came from your personal CDs which you loaded into iTunes. So, I went through the whole process. All the matched songs moved from the Store to my Cloud. However, virtually every song that didn't match became disabled - unplayable. Next to each of those songs is a cloud icon with an "!" inside and the scroll-over text reads something like "upload error." I even tried putting the CDs into my machine and uploading them to my iTunes library again. Not one of them was "accepted" into the elite world of the iCloud and while each song is listed in my iTunes Library, it is unplayable. I am doing this with a Windows PC and also accessing these songs on two separate iPads. The "bad" songs are listed on each device, but won't play from any. Can anyone help?

This is incorrect. iTunes Match does not use any of your iCloud account storage.

  • Why don't songs appear on iPod?

I click and drag songs from itunes window into iPod window on my Mac. Then when I'm done and disconnect, they do NOT appear on the iPod, it's blank. Any ideas? I am running iTunes 7, Mac 10.3.9, with a brand new iPod, purchased Oct 11, 2006.
    Heeeeeeeelp! LOL

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Dragging songs only works if you have selected to manually manage songs and videos? Have you?
Connect the iPod to the computer. When the iPod appears in iTunes, select it under Source (on the left) and click the summary tab. Make sure manually manage songs and videos is checked. Click Apply. Do not go and change any settings in the other tabs (for what is synced to the iPod), because doing so will enable automatic updating again.
When you drag the songs to the iPod, is iTunes showing that it is adding them (not just Updating iPod, but does it actually show the song names or 1 out of 10, for example)?
Are you adding all types of songs (from CDs), videos, purchased content, or what?

If they are iTunes purchases that you bought on your phone then have you copied them over from it to your computer's iTunes ? If that is the computer that you sync the phone to then you should be able to copy them over by connecting it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. Or (depending upon what country that you are in) you might be able to redownload them directly on your computer's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage.
In terms of your account's balance, have you tried logging out of your account on your computer (Store > Sign Out menu option) and then logging back in (it will change to a Store > Sign In option) and seeing if your balance changes ?

  • IS IT IMPOSSIBLE? My iTunes library says 4149 songs, my iPhone says 4148 songs, and my iPad says 4147 songs.  Why don't they match?!  How can I fix it???

My iTunes library says 4149 songs, my iPhone says 4148 songs, and my iPad says 4147 songs.  Why don't they match?!  How can I fix it???

Yes. I selected all songs and checked them (in case I missed a few) and synced.  I have also tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it.  I tried selecting all songs and unchecking them, re-syncing my phone (which didn't get rid of the songs on my phone like i thought it would), then selected all songs again, checked them, and resynced again--nothing changed.  I went to the iTunes store and selected "Check for all available downloads" and it gave me the message"All purchases have been downloaded for this account."  I checked for duplicates, deleted a few and resynced.  This reduced the number of songs, but it still doesn't match what the iTunes library says...I don't know what to try next...

  • I have "Explicit" songs tags in iTunes, but they (the tags, not the songs) are not showing up on my iPhone Music.

    Hi,
I recently found a way to add the "EXPLICIT" tag to songs in my iTunes Library (using Subler), and just presumed that the tags were not showing up in my iPhone Music because the phone simply did not have the function to display them.
However, in iOS 7, and seeing every song I have ever purchased, I noticed that the iPhone can indeed show whether songs are explicit or not (by marking them with a letter 'E').
Therefore I am just wondering why I can see whether songs are explicit on my Mac, yet not on my iPhone. I have tried removing the songs from my iTunes Library, syncing to remove them from my phone, re-adding them to my Library, and then re-syncing to put them back onto my phone, and the explicit tag still does not show up.
Please can you help me resolve this.
    Thanks

If you buy them as a Ringtone, then Itunes should automatically put them in Tones. It is a huge hassle and takes time most of us don't have to waste, when we purchased them as Tones and Apple told me they would automatically show up in Tones if purchased from Itunes Store. NOT!  And we shouldn't have to google to find the answer. They should make that clear on Itunes store.  Very disappoiinted in the Itunes upgrades that have caused so many problems.

  • HT4914 why do some songs grayed out and only available when connected on wifi when trying to stream on iphone?

why do some songs grayed out and only available when connected on wifi when trying to stream on iphone?

I had this problem too - of grayed out music I could only play when in WIFI.  I noticed when looking in iTunes, these grayed song were not chosen by me to sync on to my iPhone. They were stored in iCloud.  I went to Settings > Music and then turned off "Show All Music" so only music that has been dowloaded to my iPhone will be shown.
I don't have iTunes Match, so you may have a different issue than what I had.
