IPhone needs restore message

I was getting an error message that "iPhone needs to be restored". After a miserable 2 hour downloading the latest iTunes I finally got it restored. Now, after about 5 hours, I'm getting the same message and no service. I can turn the phone off and then back on and it will be fixed for a few hours only to get the same message. Any suggestions?

  • My iPhone needs restoring every hour or so

    I am desperate for help.
I think the iOS 5 is causing my iPhone 4 to crash.
The phone loses service and then the message "iPhone needs to be restored, can not send or recieve cells or texts" comes up.
I have restored my phone at least 30 times, used the DFU restore and turned off my virus software to make sure iTunes is updated .
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or how to fix it? when I do get the phone working it needs to be restored 20 minutes later. Its very inconvinient at this time of year.

  • TS3694 iphone needs restore itunes says enter passcode to phone

my iphone screen came out and now it says it needs a restore plug it in to itunes and it says  enter passcode to phone i cannot do this as it is emergencie calls only

    Hey drcajkm,
Thanks for the question. The following article provides some solutions if you are having issues with passcode lock:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
    5. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • TS1538 I tried to update the latest version on my iPhone to no avail. Now my iPhone needs restoration and will delete all pictures taken today (which I can't afford to lose!) is the sync when you first install the iPhone how it 'backs up' info and how do

HELP! How do I find the back up folder? When I restore my phone, how can I access the folder to put all data back onto phone to retrieve photos etc? I was trying to update software when it crashed... now im shattred. How do you back up software? Is it automatic when syncing phones in itunes?

Let me get this straight.  You have pictures on your phone that you can't afford to lose.  They aren't backed up.  Then, before you back them up by importing them to your computer for safe keeping, you decide to update the software?
On what planet would this be a sane thing to do?
No offense, but NEVER update any software, be it on your computer, phone or whatever, unless you're darned sure ALL your data is safely backed up.
If you have no backup of the the pictures you "can't afford to lose", then unfortunately, I think you just lost them.

You need iTunes on the computer. There is no iTunes for your phone. See:

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

  • Problem recovering new iPhone 4, Stuck on "Preparing iphone for restore", then giving an error message

I recently bought an iPhone 4, and it worked just fine, until I tried to sync it with iTunes. Whenever I would try to sync it, it would stall somewhere in the process, and then an error message would come up eventually. It would say something along the lines of "Process timed out, Internal Harware error" or somthing like that, there were several error messages.
So then I tried to restore the phone. I did it through iTunes, and eventually the process stalled on the "Preparing iPhone for restore" part, and then it would give me an error message (4013). My phone is stuck on the connect to itunes screen. When I do connect it to iTunes it says that the phone is in recorvery mode and that and needs to be restored. So again, I try to restore it and it gets stalled in the "Preparing iPhone for restore" part. I have also recieved the 2005 error code. I have tried to fix it by unplugging all other USB's, using a different USB port, disabling firewalls ect.. I have the newest version of iTunes, and my phone is running 7.0.3 (Can't update now that the restore is necessary, and I couldn't update anyways because the same problem I had syncing it occured when I tried to update.) I have Windows XP.

Error 1 is a baseband error. If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution of this problem. If no coverage then search the Web for Error 1. Users have reported some success with this Error 1.

  • Iphone 3gs in recovery; needs restore; but gets error code

    I have a new 3gs Iphone.
I installed the newest version of ITUNES- 9.something.
I start the SETUP IPHONE PROCESS.
I am told that I need to upgrade to new Iphone OS.
It takes 2 hours to download.
    I get an error
I try to reconnect the iphone - GET MESSAGE that the phone is in recovery and needs to be restored.
I start restore - i get an error. I start again. It shows all the green bars as completed but then freezes. I restart the computer.
ITUNES tells me again that Iphone is in recovery and needs restore.
I start restore. I get a message: The Iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (14).
I don't know what to do.

I have had this same problem, and you'll find out it will eventually work, but then after that your phone wont even start up and wont be able to connect to your computer! it's only allowing me to make Emergency Calls
This new update has really peeved me, i need my phone for work.
Try another computer, updating itunes, or different ports, restarting computer. Only thing i can think of sorry.

  • Iphone need to restore almost every day

    Hello,
I have an IPHONE 3GS which I purchased in Italy (open for all the networks).
About a week ago in the middle of the day the iphone suddenly had “no service” sign and I couldn’t get any calls. I tried to restart but it showed the screen “iphone need to restore” – I was than in version 3.1.2 .
Since then I tried to restored it for many times and upgrade to 4.1 firmware. Most of the times I get the restore error 1013. But a few times the restore succeeded and the iphone worked for half a day until it showed the “no service” sign again and I couldn’t use it.
Can anyone please advise me what to do? There is no apple service in my country.
    Thanks,
    Amir

    Thanks,
    Amir

Thank you for your response. However, I have done that plenty of times and each time I try to restore my phone, it extracts the software and then when it says restoring with the loading bar, an error message comes up saying an unknown error has occurred.

  • IPHONE SUDDENLY NEEDED RESTORING, CANNOT ACCESS PASSWORD SCREEN..... help

my phone needed restoring but i cannot do so because my phone is locked. and itunes can't connect when a phone is locked. i pressed the home and power button, restarted it, each time i see the itunes sign with the disconnected iphone cord. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME, I CAN'T USE MY PHONE

Connect your iPhone to your computer. Then press and hold both the sleep button and the home button for about 30 seconds or so. It should then show a message in iTunes that the phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. Just be aware this does erase everything in the phone, but it will get you back up and running again.

  • Will I lose my photos in recovery mode? I tried to update to latest software and I received a message that iphone needs to be updated to factory settings.  Please help.  I cannot use iphone.

I would "guess", since you were in the middle of backing up, your backup is corrupt & most likely unusable. Only one way to find out though, & that's by trying to restore from that backup. If your pics are not there, they are gone.

  • I have an error message reading "Iphone needs to cool down before you can use it". ?

I can only use the phone for maybe 4 minutes before this message appears with a yellow warning triangle. (Iphone 4S)
"Iphone needs to cool down before you can use it"
The phone is not warm and after a couple of minutes it is useable again only to repeat the same message a few minutes later.
I've done a restore which made no difference.
    Anyone have any ideas/similar problem?
    Cheers

  • Need repair message on iphone

my iphone displays a message that says "Repair Needed. Iphone cannot send or receive calls." After that it displays a no service on my signal. i cant even hear sound from my keyboard and ipod even though the volumes way up. I dont put my phone near any magnets. Pls help... i already tried backing it up and restoring it to factory settings trough itunes.

If it's still doing it after a restore, contact Apple and have it looked at. You could have a problem with the logic board.

YOur phone is in recovery mode, any data that was on there is already gone, you will have to restore your phone and use whatever backup you to restore to.
