Iphone needs sim for activation

i have a question.. i've just updated my aunt's iphone 4... and when i open it it says that i need a sim card to activate it... the phone is from london.. it has no sim.. what will I do? thanks

Even if you are just using it as essentially an iPod Touch, you need a SIM in it to activate it in iTunes (note this has nothing to do with cellular service, this is simply about activating the device in iTunes so you can sync, update and so on).
The good news, is any microSIM should work - it just has to have one in the slot to complete the iTunes activation, and once activated, you can take the SIM back out.

Is iPhone 3GS SIM card activation mandatory?

I have several scenarios.
First: If I'm currently an iPhone 1st Generation user, can I use the old SIM card to use iPhone 3GS?
Second: If I'm currently an iPhone 3G user, can I use the old SIM card to use the iPhone 3GS?
Third: If I'm using the iPhone 3GS SIM card, can I use it on other phones to make calls and go online? For example iPhone 3G, iPhone 1st Generation, or any AT&T branded phones, and finally unlocked phones?

As long as your existing SIM is a 3G(network) SIM as the SIM cards were in the U.K, you can insert your current SIM into your 3G S, connect to iTunes, iPhone will display a message "iPhone is activated", follow the registration process through iTunes (if you wish to) then choose to set up as a new iPhone or a backup.
Let iTunes do its thing and you have a fully working iPhone 3G S.
That's what I did with my original iPhone to iPhone 3G and having bought an unsubsidized 3G S from O2 I'm still using my original SIM. It's running perfectly. MMS works, Find my iPhone works, it's fantastic. Love the rotating maps :o) roll on TomTom release!
iPhone is available in many countries, so I don't know if all carriers' SIM cards are the same as the SIM cards provided by the U.K carrier (O2).

I have an iphone 4 and my facetime and imessage are saying "waiting for activation". I have tried turning off the wi-fi, turning off facetime, turning off caller ID, restarting the phone and then turning everything back on. Doesn't work! Help!

The PIN and PUK codes are usually found on the card that the SIM came attached to. In any case you need a SIM that has not been locked with a PIN in order to activate the phone. So you need to contact the carrier. It is not an iPhone issue.

Same thing with my new iPhone 4: "waiting to activate...." Then 1 hour, a few network restarts and power cycles later, here's what activated it.
From another ATT wireless phone (could be other ATT phone)
- I called 611.
- Pressed 2 to enter another phone number (mine for my new iPhone); listened to recording about me getting a new phone (yep).
- Pressed 1 to activate my phone.
- entered billing zip then last four digits of soc sec #.
- Pressed 1 to really activate my new phone (and understood my old iPhone would be disabled phone-wise).
- Turned my iPhone 4 off and waited for 5 minutes "while the cell system updates."
- Turned my iPhone 4 ON and, yep, it activated.

Now I want to close the document and open a different one in the same reader window using OpenInWindowEx. How do I get the hWnd handle?

After much experimentation, this code works, but it does not work. It reports sucess and I can get a page count for each document I open, but it does not actually open the document in the active Adobe Professional Window. I have been able to fiddle with this and at least get a document to come up in a new professional window (by just executing avDoc.Open each time) but the user has to close the old one manually.
Guess I'll have to try some other method of getting this to do what I want which is to be able to display various pdf documents from a windows forms application in a window on a computer with adobe professional installed. I didn't think it would be this hard...
