IPhone no longer connects to mac

My iPhone 3 used to connect with both macs in the house. Now suddenly when I plug it into the machine I have synched it to in the past (iMac Intel Core 2 Duo) not only does the phone not sync with iTunes...it doesn't even charge or launch iPhoto.
I can take the same iPhone with the same cable, plug it into the other mac (Powerbook G4), and it will be "seen" and charge and launch iPhoto. I can take an iPod, plug it with the same cable into the iMac, and it will sync. So it's not the cable, and (given that the phone "sees" the other mac) I don't think it's the phone. Any ideas on what I need to do to get my phone to see and be seen by the iMac?

1. Your iMac's USB port may be bad. Try another, or try resetting the USB ports as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1317
2. If your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or iPod nano (5th generation) is not recognized in iTunes on a Mac, you might need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service. Find instructions here, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747

Updated to ios6 now lost all wifi connection both iPad and iPhone no longer connects to wifi

not much response in here which surprises me...
Anyway... AS I am still looking for answers, I will share a couple of points that I realised...
in Airport Utility, I noticed that my iphone MAC address was actually showing as client connected, despite my phone network showing the spinning wheel next to the network name for ever and never actually connecting.
I am currently testing the router mode in Network to be on DHCP and NAT mode with a range from .2 to .200
    My phone is now connected....
Everything seems to be ok and happy so far...
strange that this router and phone have worked together for at least a couple of years, the phone works everywhere else, and all other toys connect to my WIFI just fine. the list is as follow:
    airport extreme
    Zeppelin air
    2x apple tv
    2 ipads
    iphone 4s
    2 mac
    1 pc
I have litterally just hard reset the router with a pin just now as a last resort... same...
I will leave the router as DHCP & NAT until a potential firmware or OS update...

  • Roku Photobridge no longer connects to Mac after OSX Tiger security upgrade

I do the MacOS security upgrades as soon as they come out, and around mid-July, I noticed that my Roku Photobridge (aka HD1000) could no longer connect to my Mac. The error I get on the Roku is "User/Pass OK but read permission denied". Here's what I know:
    - another Mac user on the Roku forum reports the same problem, with roughly the same timing, and he also installed the same security updates
    - the Roku has its own account/user on the Mac, and all the permissions look fine (in fact, they're all 644 if you look at them using the command line)
    - the Roku uses Windows Sharing; I've confirmed that Windows Sharing is on for its account
    * the firewall on the Mac is set to allow Windows Sharing through
Any ideas or help would be gratefully appreciated!

Let me add: I've repaired permissions and repaired the disk on the Mac. No joy.

  • IPhone no longer connecting to 3G

  • Original iPad no longer connects to Mac?

My original iPad will no longer connect to my Mac. I replaced my old Mac Tower with an Intel Power Mac. I have tried everything that I can think of to remedy this problem.

Try going to Settings/General/Reset (Last option at bottom) Reset Network Settings. That should do the trick.

  • Upgraded to iOS 4.2 and iPhone no longer connects to AT&T Network.

Title pretty much sums it up. After updating to iOS 4.2, my iPhone 4 no longer connects to the AT&T Network. It just says Searching and rarely finds the network. When it does, it shoes 1 bar and as soon as I try to send a text or make a call, it goes back to Searching.

Reverting to an earlier firmware version is not supported.
Stop by a local AT&T store reporting the problem and request a new SIM card where the new SIM card can be activated with your iPhone. There will be no charge for this.
If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup and no change with a new SIM card, the iPhone includes a one year warranty. You can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • Get messagewhen syncing iphone no longer connected or not responding

I have tried to transfer ringtones from my computer or memory stick to my iphone. These ringtones were previously on this phone but are gone. Each time I try to sync them again, I get the message "your iphone is no longer connected or is not responding". It is physiaclly connected so I'm losing connection internally. How do I fix this problem?

If you are using a USB hub for the iPhone, don't. If you are using a front port on a desktop or tower computer, don't.

  • IPhone 4 Facetime connectivity to Mac??

Hi there, so I just updated to 4.1 today, is there still no support for Facetime connection to Mac users? What's the deal? That seems like atleast 50% of my would be Facetime calls, then to the few iPhone 4 users I know so far, and absolutely 0 for new iPod touch users.
So is there a way to do it or is it more of the same waiting game?

As I understand, FaceTime is an app that connects the latest iOS4.1 iPod touch(s) and/or iPhone4(s).
For connections between iPod/iPhone and Macs, we would need a different app. There might be a market here if you are a programmer. Otherwise, search or wait for the app that does what you ask.

  • After upgrade can no longer connect to Mac from Windows

I have a wireless network (Linksys) with 2 iMacs, Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP workstations. I have file sharing between the Windows and Mac computers. After upgrading I can no longer see the shared folders on the upgraded iMac from the Windows box. I cannot even ping the iMac by node name, but I can ping it by IP address so it is recognizable on the network. I cannot connect by IP address, however.
I have file and printer sharing enabled on the Leopard iMac. What can I do to restore the former connection?

Thank you! That partially solved the problem. I can now see the Leopard Mac and can open my user folder on it. However, the subfolders give an error saying they are not accessible - permission denied. I have gone through the folders and set all of them to Shared, but this did not make them accessible.

  • My iphone no longer connects to itunes

My iPhone is no longer recognized by iTunes as it has for over a year.  iTunes and all other software run correctly otherwise.  I've run through all the Apple tips, including reinstalling iTunes, although I didn't delete any files first as Apple suggests.  The iPhone driver shows correct operation in the hardware config file.  I suspect some routine security update is the problem as I do keep my software up-to-date.  I've never had a problem with the iPhone previously, or the connection to iTunes. I'm running out of ideas. The system is a Lenovo T510 Thinkpad in excellent condition, Vista 64 bit os.  Any suggestions would be appreciaed as I'm out of ideas for now.

  • IPhone no longer connects via Airplay to Airport Extreme

Any device that was connected to my wifi was able to play music and video audio straight to my Airport Extreme. And then one day, it stopped. My iTunes on my computer connects to the Airport no problem, it's just the other devices. Yesterday, my friend connected with her iPhone but still not mine. She doesn't update any of her apps, ever. Is my iPhone simply to update to work with an older Express?? it's about four years old. Can someone help?

A simple first step is to reset your iPhone's network settings. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. It will prompt for your passcode, and ask for confirmation. After that, you will need to connect to your wireless network again. No other settings will be altered.
If you still don't see an AirPlay icon, the gold standard for troubleshooting an Express is a "hard reset" (read below) after which you will need to reconfigure it. If you reset it, you might as well reset your iPhone's network settings again. Other devices may need to re-connect to your wireless network also.
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then gently press and hold its tiny reset button. Don't apply any more force than required to feel a tactile click. Keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

Since having connected my ipad 2 with my laptop. when i plug in thye usb cable from my iphone to my laptop it no longer finds my iphone. I have restarted my iphone, laptop and i have updsted itunes. What else can i do to make it work?

  • Windows Vista Machine Can No Longer Connect to Mac Following Upgrade

Before: Windows Vista machine with 6 drive letters mapped to the 6 hard drives in my Mac Pro running 10.5.8.
After: Mac Pro upgraded to 10.6. Now the Vista machine cannot connect to any of the drive letters, nor can it open the Mac Pro by browsing -- the Mac Pro shows up, but cannot be opened. A second Windows machine also cannot open any shares on the Mac Pro.
I have checked all of the settings in Network on the Mac Pro and they look fine. Does anyone have any ideas for things to check?

I was able to see the other Windows XP computer and begin to connect. I was then presented with a login screen. I tried using the usual user name and password - no luck. I then formatted the user name as as follows:
    user name: computer name\user name
    password: as normal
And it worked. Specifically in my case:
    user: cwy-pln2152\administrator
    password: planning
This is what worked for me your mileage may vary.
