IPhone no longer connects to my AirPort Extreme wifi

So I looked around...
I waited for ios6 for a potential fix on this...
I still can't connect to my home Wifi from my iphone4
Set up:
AIrport extreme as main router
Extended with an airport express
What have I tried...
Well starting with the easiest
Restored the phone from factory
Reset network
Forget network, start again
Airplane mode
Extreme settings
Turned off security, still nothing
Changed the channels from automatic to manual
Turned on 5ghz
From wap 2 personnel to other
Turned off the express
Tried various combinations of network type, n, g etc...
I am out of ideas....
It the house we have a Mac Pro, a pc, 2 iPads, and an iPhone 4S. All are good
Just that iPhone 4. Started 3 weeks ago
ARGH!!!!!!!!!

not much response in here which surprises me...
Anyway... AS I am still looking for answers, I will share a couple of points that I realised...
in Airport Utility, I noticed that my iphone MAC address was actually showing as client connected, despite my phone network showing the spinning wheel next to the network name for ever and never actually connecting.
I am currently testing the router mode in Network to be on DHCP and NAT mode with a range from .2 to .200
My phone is now connected....
Everything seems to be ok and happy so far...
strange that this router and phone have worked together for at least a couple of years, the phone works everywhere else, and all other toys connect to my WIFI just fine. the list is as follow:
airport extreme
Zeppelin air
2x apple tv
2 ipads
iphone 4s
2 mac
1 pc
I have litterally just hard reset the router with a pin just now as a last resort... same...
I will leave the router as DHCP & NAT until a potential firmware or OS update...

  • Horrible Iphone wi-fi connection to my airport extreme and express... ugh!

    Hello everyone..
SO. Over the weekend I upgraded my home network to an Airport Extreme (which is in my den) and added an Airport Express in my living room, which is about 20 feet away, line of site, no obstructions.
I used the utility to configure the network, didn't do anything creative, just setup a WPA password, added the airport express and extended the network. Everything works beautifully! My MacBook Pro shows full signal strength through my entire condo.
The only hang-up is with my iphone 3g!!! I can connect to my network and iTunes but I have to be within three feet of my Airport Extreme, if I walk 10 feet away i loose signal completely. Even in the living room, standing next to my airport express it doesn't pick up the signal and my MBP does.
The only reason why I went and bought all this new wireless equipment was so I could use the free remote app on my iphone to control and play iTunes through the airport express.
ANY suggestions? Voodoo or spells I can cast? This is really frustrating me... I'm close to returned everything and going back to my Linksys router (which my iphone connected to with no problems)
    Justin

thanks... I have reset everything in my condo that can be reset, including the microwave.
It's a little more bizarre, if I unplug either the airport extreme, or the express it will work fine and I can connect and stay connected with my Iphone. I only have issues once I create an extended WDS using the airport express

  • ITunes on my iphone no longer connects to my airport express

My macbook air (OS10.8.5) connects to the airport express without any problems. My iphone 4S (OS8.1) has lost the connection. No idea with which update, i just noticed. All three are on the same WIFI network. I turned the airport and iphone off and on a few times. What else could I try?
    Thanks!

  • My iPhone is not connecting to my Airport Extreme

My iPhone and my families iPhones can no longer connect to the wifi. It was working fine. My iPad, Apple TV and Laptops all work fine.

Hi - This worked for me - go to settings - choose Wi-Fi - press the arrow next to the network that you want to connect - choose "Forget This Network" - choose "Forget" - then press Settings and turn off the iPhone - turn it back on and wait it for it to reboot - then go to settings - choose Wi-Fi - press the Name of the network - enter the password and press "Join" - you should now be connected - let me know how you make out.

  • HT2275 Do I need to choose "Share this printer on the network" for printers that are not connected directly to my MacBook Pro? I have two HP printers connected to an Airport Extreme (WiFi turned off). I connect by WiFi to another Airport Extreme w cable t

I have three Airport Extreme (AE) routers in my home network.
The main AE is set up for wifi access. The other two are connected by ethernet cables to the main AE. My MacBook Pro connects to the network wirelessly through the main AE. The AE in my office has two HP printers connected to it by ethernet cables. I have a Kodak All-in-one that is connected by USB to my MacBook Pro.
I reset my printer connections on my MacBook Pro and had to add all the printers back to my printer list. I don't know if I understand what the checkbox "Share this printer on the network" in the Print & Fax System Preferences window is for. My guess is that I don't need to share printers unless they are connected to my MacBook Pro by USB, so I should uncheck the "Share this printer on the network" box for the two HP printers that are connected to the AE. I print to them over the network, but they're not connected directly to any computer. I thought if my MacBook Pro wasset to share them and was shutdown, the printers might not be available to my Mac mini or Dell PC, which connect by ethernet to the office AE (which has the two printers connected to it).
    What should I do?
For printers connected directly to a Mac (or PC) by USB, check the "Share this printer on the network" box? In my Sharing Preferences, I check "Share Printers."
For printers connected to the AE by ethernet, UNcheck the "Share this printer on the network" box on my Macs (& PCs?) when I add the printers to my printer list? In my Sharing Preferences, I UNcheck "Share Printers?"

Question is - will the 2 networks (using auto channel negotiations) exist well in the same house or will there be interference?
Things will be fine since the AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme will automatically search for a good wireless channel. If you assign a separate name for the wireless network, then devices will need to log in separately to this network. The extending device will need to be configured in Bridge Mode.
My suggestion would be to configure what is known as a "roaming" network in your question #2. In this case, you would assign the same wireless network name, security and password settings to the extending device and configure it in Bridge Mode.
The advantage to #2 is that you will be able to walk your laptop from a location near the Time Capsule and as you move close to the extending device, the laptop will automatically switch to pick up the stronger signal from the extending AirPort.
You are actually creating a separate network in #2, so you have the advantage of maximum bandwidth for both the TC network and the AirPort network.
Question - does the Airport Express have to be directly connected to the TC or can that connected be through a switched network?
I'm assuming that you are asking about an Ethernet switch here, correct?  The AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme can connect to the Ethernet switch, or directly back to a LAN port on the Time Capsule, whichever is easier to setup.
Question 2 - assuming I can connect the Airport Express to the TC over a switched network, will "extending" the network using the Ethernet network still reduce my overall wireless bandwidth?
Connecting the remote device using Ethernet is by far the best way to extend a wireless network because it maintains maximum bandwidth on the network. This is the way that any good commercial network is designed.
Post back if you need any tips to get things setup.

  • Connect PRS950 to Airport Extreme WiFi

    Hello all,
Hopefully someone here can assist. PRS-950, 3g works fine when traveling, but I cannot for love or money get it to connect to home WiFi. ISP = Time Warner. Connection chain is cable modem, then Linksys WIRED router, then AirportExtreme 4th gen base station. Windows 7 PC connected to the router, the Airport wirelessly connects MAC OS X 10.6.7, Sony PS3, and Wii. All this works fine.
When I set up the WiFi on the reader, all settings seem to look fine EXCEPT "ENCRYPTION KEY" -- this is the piece that I am unable to obtain in spite of spending HOURS with Time Warner (they sent me to Linksys), Linksys (referred me to Sony), Sony support sent me back to Apple, who of course wants to charge me just to even answer this simple question. Hours and hours of internet searches, tweaking every password setting I could find on the Airport, and it seems all I need to find out is how to determine the encryption key on the Airport Extreme.
Has anyone set up a WIFI reader using an Airport Extreme and has any ideas? Thanks in advance.
    Anyone .... pleeeeeeeease.... please
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thank you for your post.
Airport Extreme 4th gen base station’s encryption key would be your security code/pass phrase designated during the initial set up of your system. If you have forgotten the code then your option is to contact Apple for support or reset your wireless router (Airport Extreme) to default settings and assign a new password. However, when you reset to factory default settings you will re-configure the wireless router and reconnect all connected devices.

  • IPhone not connecting to my Airport Extreme (password invalid)

I've been trying to get my iPhone to connect to my Airport Extreme since I got the phone, it finds my network but fails to connect when I enter the password.
I have tried changing the network password several times but nothing seems to help, The airport security is set to 40-bit wep with a password 5 digits long using only numbers.
I have been able to connect to several public Wi-Fi with or without passwords so that makes me think my problem is either the type of security I'm using or some sort of limitation regarding the length of the password.
    Thanks in advance.

there was a post earlier where someone had talked to apple about it and they were told engineering is working on it. it isn't just your router, it is happening on all of them, linksys, etc. some have found workarounds, others have to wait for engineering.

  • External hard drive connected to my airport extreme will no longer open, when navigating to it in Finder, the Finder window quits and reopens, cannot access hard drive, it is visible in airport utility, since the problem began I have updated firmware

External hard drive connected to my airport extreme will no longer open, when navigating to it in Finder, the Finder window quits and reopens, cannot access hard drive, it is visible in airport utility, since the problem began I have updated firmware on Extreme as well as both of my Airport Expresses. Hard drive is USB connected to Extreme.

Reboot the USB drive.. assuming it is powered.. or unplug and replug a self-powered drive.. (you should not use self-powered drives on AE before the latest model.. always use a powered hub).
Does the drive now appear in finder..
If not reboot both drive and the AE.. it should now appear.
If it doesn't work with direct connection try a powered hub.. that can help.

  • How come my iMac and MacBook connect to my AirPort Extreme but my iPhone and iPad 2 won't?

How come my iMac and MacBook connect to my AirPort Extreme but my iPhone and iPad 2 don't?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am asking if the DNS IP addresses, not the IP addresses assigned by the DHCP service, are the same. DNS is like the Internet's version of the Yellow Pages. Your ISP typically will provide them to you or you can elect to use those provided by another source, like OpenDNS.
DNS is the service that translates a website's URL to its actual IP address so that you can access it. I am just trying to rule out that the PC is not configured properly with the correct DNS IP information.
The other thing to check is if the PC is configured to use a Proxy service. By default, it would not be.
Finally, what is the make & model of the PC. More importantly, if the PC is using either a PCI or USB wireless adapter, what is its make & model?

  • I am trying to get an answer to whether or not I can successfully use Time Machine with an external HDD connected to an airport extreme?  Some forums say yes, some say no.

I am trying to get an answer to whether or not I can successfuly use Time Machine with an external HDD connected to an airport extreme.  Some forums say yes, some say no.  I'm also curious about formatting the hard drive to work both on my wife's MacBook Pro and my PC.  Any help would definitely be appreciated.

You may be going on a recollection, that I share, that at one time Apple stated this would be possible:
In fact, Apple’s Time Machine Web page touted this very capability as recently as last Tuesday, as you can see from Google’s October 16 cache of the page
Effortless meets wireless. With a hard disk connected to your AirPort Extreme Base Station, all the Macs in your house can use Time Machine to back up wirelessly. Simply select your AirPort Disk as the backup disk for each computer and the whole family can enjoy the benefits of Time Machine.
But if you look at the current Time Machine page on Apple’s Web site, that text is nowhere to be found.
That was a long time ago, it has never been officially implemented, and at present they specifically say it cannot be done.
In summary, it may work, but probably won't, and even if it does it may not be reliable.

    Bonjour,
    Cordialement

This is a part of the larger MacBook Pro connectivity issue. There are several related threads dealing with the MBP's networking problems. If your unit is suffering from this type of difficulty, good luck ... (or a long ethernet cable)
(PS Everybody please make noise on this one so apple comes up with a solution.)

  • PROBLEM WITH Laptop Dropping CONNECTION to my Airport Extreme

PROBLEM WITH KEEPING CONNECTION To WiFi NETWORK   I have a  MacBook Pro, MacBookPro4,1, Processor Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.6 GHz  I loose connection with my Airport extreme it will just drop the connection. Up in the menu bar where it show thesignal strength... when it drops the connection  it shows  "NO NETWORK SELECTED". The only way for me to reconnect thru wifi is to SHUT DOWN my Laptop and start it back up.  Then it will hold for just a little longer and drop it again.   Very AGGRIVATING.  Is there a possibility that my Airport Card in my Laptop is going bad or what?  Gerrrrrrrrrrr     Seems to do it more when I am on Facebook but that just may be because Im on FB a lot.. LOL   And I already did the proceedure with going into the Utilities and accessing the Keychain and setting up Network again but it does not correct the problem.  HELP!!

You appear to have a solid radio connection to the Base Station.
    1) Remove unwanted networks from the list of "known" networks under
    System preferences > WiFi/Airport > (Advanced) > | Airport/WiFi pane ...
    2) System preferences > WiFi/Airport ...
... check [√] Ask to join new networks
"Known networks will be joined automatically.
If no known networks are available, you will
be asked before joining a new network."
