IPhone no longer connects to wi-fi over router

How can I fix the following: Using my iPhone 3GS at home through router worked until two days ago. Suddenly little or no connection. Rebooted router by disconnecting. Also, reset network, with no better result. Only 3GS appears to work on iPhone.  Wi-Fi is working with my MacBook at home.  The iPhone uses AT&T and MacBook Cox, so I guess the two have nothing to do with each other.  GS works on iPhone.

Intego's VirusBarrier X6 was blocking my iPhone's connection.
I saw that the program was blocking attempts to connect and took the address off the Blocked list. I instantly connected through everything again. It turned out to be a major oversight and easy fix!

  • IPhone no longer connects to my computer over local network through apps

I've been trying to fix this for months. I've worked with technology and Apple computers for three years. I am by no means an expert but you can believe me when I say I've tried all the basics.
I first noticed the problem using FullControl. I liked to use this first thing in the morning. One morning it wouldn't connect, "Error: Connection error (22)." I hadn't updated or changed anything. I actually put my computer to sleep the night before using the app! I was on the local network. My computer was running the helper. My computer was showing up as a device in the app. But it would not connect. I figured something was wrong with the app.
So I opened up Splashtop 2. My iMac showed up in my list but with a satelite icon informing me it was not connecting on the local network. I was still on my wifi as was my computer. I used it earlier that week.
I checked out the support pages for both apps. I updated everything. I turned off, on, and checked the connections for my firewall. I turned off my security applications and followed guides to remedy blocks they might cause. Nothing worked.
I checked Apple discussions and found people having similar issues but no one had a fix. A few found success but nothing worked for me.
A few days later I went to use my Remote app. My iTunes Library showed up in the local devices but it would not connect, "Remote can't connect to your iTunes library. Check your network settings and try again." I checked. Tried again. "Could not find [my] Library." I went back to the devices and connected to my Apple TV 2 instantly. I tried connecting my iMac with the Apple TV and found no issues. Each communicated with the other fine. I tried to connect Remote to my iTunes again but it failed.
I verified and repaired my permissions. I thought the "SUID... ARDAgent.app... [permission] has been modified and will not be repaired" could've been the problem but Apple and these Discussions assure me that this is normal and not a problem.
I recently downloaded Air Playit and ran into the same problem. I set it up on my computer following the instructions. I opened the app. The app showed my computer as a "Computer on Local Network" but when I tried to connect to server, "Connect Server Failed: Cannot connect the server, check the IP, Port and try again." I did and it didn't connect.
Save for this new app, everything worked before. Nothing has worked since that morning FullContol failed (including the new app).
Is there an answer out there?!

  • TS1398 Updated to ios6 now lost all wifi connection both iPad and iPhone no longer connects to wifi

Updated to ios6 now lost all wifi connection both iPad and iPhone no longer connects to wifi

not much response in here which surprises me...
Anyway... AS I am still looking for answers, I will share a couple of points that I realised...
in Airport Utility, I noticed that my iphone MAC address was actually showing as client connected, despite my phone network showing the spinning wheel next to the network name for ever and never actually connecting.
I am currently testing the router mode in Network to be on DHCP and NAT mode with a range from .2 to .200
    My phone is now connected....
Everything seems to be ok and happy so far...
strange that this router and phone have worked together for at least a couple of years, the phone works everywhere else, and all other toys connect to my WIFI just fine. the list is as follow:
    airport extreme
    Zeppelin air
    2x apple tv
    2 ipads
    iphone 4s
    2 mac
    1 pc
I have litterally just hard reset the router with a pin just now as a last resort... same...
I will leave the router as DHCP & NAT until a potential firmware or OS update...

Im Using iPhone 4. i connected to my home WiFi router for browing internet.. Sometimes its automaltically disconnected and must i off and on it again for using.. why its happening?

Look on the support pages for your WiFi router for a firmware update for the router.
It's hard to say much more without knowing the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

Why has my fiances iPhone (orange, changed to EE) no longer connecting to 3G, he can only access the Internet whilst connected to WiFi. How do we resolve this issue?

  • Upgraded to iOS 4.2 and iPhone no longer connects to AT&T Network.

Title pretty much sums it up. After updating to iOS 4.2, my iPhone 4 no longer connects to the AT&T Network. It just says Searching and rarely finds the network. When it does, it shoes 1 bar and as soon as I try to send a text or make a call, it goes back to Searching.

Reverting to an earlier firmware version is not supported.
Stop by a local AT&T store reporting the problem and request a new SIM card where the new SIM card can be activated with your iPhone. There will be no charge for this.
If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup and no change with a new SIM card, the iPhone includes a one year warranty. You can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • Get messagewhen syncing iphone no longer connected or not responding

I have tried to transfer ringtones from my computer or memory stick to my iphone. These ringtones were previously on this phone but are gone. Each time I try to sync them again, I get the message "your iphone is no longer connected or is not responding". It is physiaclly connected so I'm losing connection internally. How do I fix this problem?

If you are using a USB hub for the iPhone, don't. If you are using a front port on a desktop or tower computer, don't.

  • "No longer connected to the Internet" until router restarted

I've been running a G4 Quicksilver with OSX Tiger on a BT Internet Home Hub router for some time now, years in fact, with no trouble. I also run a Windows PC from the same router using Ethernet connection for both.
Yesterday I disconnected the ethernet cable from the Mac to update a child's laptop and when I plugged it back in again I got the message "your computer is no longer connected to the Internet". I ran network diagnostics to find the router was apparently not working, but built-in ethernet was, and restarted the router as requested. The connection ran perfectly all evening but this morning on restart - same message. The PC is running perfectly, hence this message can be posted.
I reloaded the BT software from the installation disc and got a good connection, but the first time the Mac went to sleep, I had lost it again. The connection seems to be lost everytime the Mac is restarted or goes to sleep, but if I manually reset the router I get a "connection successful" message. Last time I got the message I ran Network Diagnostics and was given a choice of locations: automatic or BTHomeHub. On BT all indicators were red; on automatic it is green as far as network settings and ISP, but red for Internet or Server. My net connection is broadband, 512k max and the PC connects and runs perfectly. I don't understand why the Mac has suddenly changed and why it won't connect.
I've just changed the location to BTHomeHub and got green lights on all but Internet - even the server light is green, but it says internet (failed).
    I'm lost, can anyone help???

    Thanks Henry, just tried that.
When I try to access the Internet I get the page header, but the page itself no longer loads - eventually I'll get the "not connected " message.
If I run Network from system preferences it tells me I am connected and gives my IP address.
If I move to the "ethernet" column on Network Diagnostics the network status lights are green for built-in ethernet, network settings and ISP - but red for Internet and server. The message now states "your internet connection appears to be working perfectly"
It can't be the internet as here I am posting on my PC, so it must be the Mac, but I don't understand how I can be connected to my ISP, but not the Internet....

  • HP Photosmart B209a no longer connecting to wireless since modem/router change

I recently had to change from a Motorola Surfboard modem and Netgear router (both at least 5 years old). The new modem/router combo is a C3700 Docsis 3.0. My HP Photosmart Plus printer model B209a no longer connects to the wireless network.  I've tried both push button and pin. I get a WPS failed to connect. When I print network settings my network is listed but the printer shows as being offline with no active conection . Firmware is EIL1FNO926AR and shows up as the latest revision for the printer. Under 802.11 Wireless the mac address is given and status is disconnected.  By the way, the printer and modem/router are approximately 3 feet apart on the same desk.
Any ideas as to what to do to get my printer back online or is incompatible with the new modem/router?
    Thanks

  • My iPad will no longer connect to my Linksys wireless router.  Every other electronic device in our house connects just fine.  What can I do?

I have an iPad (the earliest version) that used to connect to my Linksys wireless router with no difficulty.  One night recently I could not get on the internet through my iPad.  I checked the Wi-Fi information, which said it was not connected. When I go through the process of choosing a network, on which my home system is clearly listed along with a very strong signal strength, I am told that my iPad is unable to join my own network.  All the other electronic devices in our house are connected and functioning fine.  Can anyone walk me through the steps to correct this problem?
I need to add that I took my iPad to the Appple store, and the clerk there reset something--I don't know what--and my iPad was able to connect to their network.  When I came home, though, I was not able to connect to my home network.

If everything else is connecting with no issues, I would go into the wifi setting on the iPad and redo the info there, user, password and anything else related to your wifi at your house.
It is possible whatever he reset may have reset something to default setting which will not allow it to connect. If you need too then verify the wifi setting by comparing it with another device setting that works on your home network.
    Good luck

  • My iphone no longer connects to itunes

My iPhone is no longer recognized by iTunes as it has for over a year.  iTunes and all other software run correctly otherwise.  I've run through all the Apple tips, including reinstalling iTunes, although I didn't delete any files first as Apple suggests.  The iPhone driver shows correct operation in the hardware config file.  I suspect some routine security update is the problem as I do keep my software up-to-date.  I've never had a problem with the iPhone previously, or the connection to iTunes. I'm running out of ideas. The system is a Lenovo T510 Thinkpad in excellent condition, Vista 64 bit os.  Any suggestions would be appreciaed as I'm out of ideas for now.

  • IPhone no longer connects to iTunes via Wifi

On July 1,12 my iTunes did an automatic update.  After the computer restarting and I entered iTunes and the following messages appeared:
Message 1: Must reinstall itunes to connect to ipod or mobile devices.
Message 2: CD/DVD folder must be located in itunes folder in order to use with itunes
I have 2 iphones (both 4s, bought at same time, both running iOS 5.1.1)and one will briefly connect to itunes via Wifi (I will identify this one as iphone1) but the other one will not (I will identify this one as iphone2).  I have a PC with Windows 7.
When iphone1 is connected to itunes via wifi is disconnects randomly.  Under: Summary > Version, it has the message: Connect this iphone using a USB cable in order to update or restore its software.  When I have it connected with the USB cable, there are no problems. The settings selected under: Summary > Options > are: Open iTunes when this iphone is connected, Sync with this iphone over Wi-Fi,  & Manually manage music and videos.  The Setting under Backup > Back up to this computer (where it backs up to; I do not know)
iphone2 does not connect via Wifi but used to.  It connects without issues with the USB. The Settings in iTunes > Summary are the same as iphone2 except that iphone2 is set as Backup > Back up to iCloud.
My iphone2 is my primary device.  I use it exclusively; for music, taking photos, syncing photos to my Photo Stream folder on my PC, etc.  The iphone1 is my spouse's secondary phone, so its not used as often (ie: only has 4 songs downloaded, used to take the odd picture, has a mirror image of apps from iphone2).
I searched Apple Support and tried the following solutions that didn't solve this problem:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows (support.apple.com/kb/TS1567) &
Set the Apple Mobile Device Service Startup type to Automatic
I have not done this: Remove and reinstall iTunes and AMDS. I did goto the: iTunes for Windows: Device Connectivity Tests > iOS > iPhone - iTunes Troubleshooting Assistantand into iTunes > Help > Run Diagnostics.  The results were: All tests passed. (My iphone2 was plugged in with USB. The iphone1 was connected via WiFi.)
What do I do now?  Do I need to remove and reinstall iTunes? and if so will I lose all my itunes info (videos, music, apps, settings) or will it just show up after I install iTunes?

  • IPhone no longer connects via Airplay to Airport Extreme

Any device that was connected to my wifi was able to play music and video audio straight to my Airport Extreme. And then one day, it stopped. My iTunes on my computer connects to the Airport no problem, it's just the other devices. Yesterday, my friend connected with her iPhone but still not mine. She doesn't update any of her apps, ever. Is my iPhone simply to update to work with an older Express?? it's about four years old. Can someone help?

A simple first step is to reset your iPhone's network settings. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. It will prompt for your passcode, and ask for confirmation. After that, you will need to connect to your wireless network again. No other settings will be altered.
If you still don't see an AirPlay icon, the gold standard for troubleshooting an Express is a "hard reset" (read below) after which you will need to reconfigure it. If you reset it, you might as well reset your iPhone's network settings again. Other devices may need to re-connect to your wireless network also.
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then gently press and hold its tiny reset button. Don't apply any more force than required to feel a tactile click. Keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

I added music to my library last night . When I went to connect to iTunes this morning the phone wouldn't connect. It vibrates saying it's plugged in, asks if I trust the computer (yes) then vibrates again as if saying not connected even though it's charging. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, restarting both phone and computer, deleting phone driver and reinstalling it. Nothing works. I have a windows 8 that I just recently updated to 8.1 last weekend, fully updated iTunes and updated iOS for my phone. This is driving me crazy. Please help.
