my replacement iphone 4 is not recognised by any of my usb ports now and i cant connect to itunes to sync all my music. ive tried everyting ive come accross on google and here! please help??

Define "everything". If you don't tell us what you've done already, you're going to get a whole lot of responses that you've already tried. If you tell us what you've tried, we can narrow it down to stuff you haven't tried yet.

Probably not. Don't know about iPhone 4 or iPod, but with an iPhone 3G, it will appear that the iPhone is "charging" initially, but the charging indicator will turn into a "plugged in" icon after a moment or two indicating that the iPhone is no longer charging.

I have tried restarting the phone, resetting the phone, restarting the computer, restarting the computer with my phone connected, reinstalling iTunes/Quicktime, plugging the cord into different ports on my computer (not my keyboard) and still nothing. I have an external drive with a USB port connection that is recognized when I plug it in the same USB ports. One would think it was the USB cord but the strange thing is I can use the same USB cord plugged into my phone and the adapter in the wall and it charges. I just can't update the software or add songs to my iPhone.
Anybody know what's going on?

Ok so I tried creating a new user account with administrative priviledges on the same computer and still nothing. I called apple tech support and spent about an hour on the phone with them and they are baffled as to why this is happening too. Their only suggestion was to replace the phone. So unless someone else has had this same problem and knows hows to fix it, or just knows of something that apple doesn't, I'm screwed!
Just out of curiosity, I tried connecting my phone to another computer to get the 2.2 update and it worked. So I updated my phone's software and tried plugging it in again and still nothing. Also, I tried connecting someone elses iPhone 3G to my computer with the same USB cord and my computer recognized their phone. So it must just be my phone and my computer don't like each other for some reason!
Here's the full scenario before the connection issue (just in case someone knows something I don't):
I was having problems updating my iTunes to version 8.0.2. It wouldn't fully install quicktime and without quicktime you can't run iTunes, in fact, iTunes won't even open. I got an error message that said I needed to repair or reinstall quicktime. So I completely deleted iTunes and quicktime software from my computer and reinstalled the version that is downloadable from apple's website (which is NOT 8.0.2). I got it loaded and alas iTunes finally opened. So I connected my phone and started updating to the 2.2 version of iPhone software. Then a window popped up saying I needed iTunes version 8.0.2. So I started that download as well. Then I walked away to let it download the updates needed for my phone and iTunes. I came back 20 min later and my computer had restarted itself (I'm assuming after the iTunes update it did that) and was at the login screen. So I logged in and my iPhone would then not connect to my computer after that. I unplugged and plugged it back in and I got a beeping noise but not the normal beeping noise a computer makes when you connect the USB cable. It beeped three times in the same lower tone instead of the 2 beep 2 tone you normally get. I realize in hind site that was probably not a good idea but I asked the apple tech I talked to and he said that shouldn't have been a problem even if the 2.2 iPhone update hadn't fully installed and had been interrupted. I have two Power Macs, Power PC G4s. After backing up my phone on both of these computers, the USB port does not work. What's up with that and how do I get the port to become usable again?

I used three Macs to sync my iPhone 3GS. I used the two G4s to sync and update. I did use a USB hub on the main G4. Lost a port after each use. Then I used the Intel. After the first use, I noticed that the USB port used did not work after applying app updates. A hub was used during this sync. The message I get on the G4 Open Firmware is : USB Setup Error: 5c000000 80002. I still have three available and usable ports on the Intel Mac. Just thought it was coincidental that this occurred on both types of Macs. Not going to update or sync on this one again.

Mobile phone not being recognised via USB port

A few days ago I plugged my Motorola V3x phone into a USB port to download some pictures and was presented with some Windows to fill out some information. As I could not complete the operation at that time I closed the windows to retry at a later date. But now when I plug the phone into the USB port it is not recognised and there is on icon appearing on the desktop indicating that a USB has been plugged in. If I plug other devices into the USB ports they are recognised. Any ideas?

For the phone to appear on the desktop when plugged in via USB you need to use USB Mass Storage mode (or whatever Nokia call it) not Media Transfer.
For iSync you need to download the E71 iSync Plugin from the Nokia web-site:

Because the iPad requires a lot more power to charge than your iPhone, and typically car and computer USB ports simply don't proivide that much.
Its the same reason your iPhone comes with a 5Watt charger (and even then the iPhone only uses part of that) while the iPads come with the 10 or 12 watt charger.
They just need more power.

Eye tv dtt wont recognise my usb port, can you help?

I've just got a Mac Mini (and am new to Mac so please forgive my lack of skill with this), and I'm trying to instal EYE TV, DTT, as a TV tuner stick. The instal wont complete as it says the stick is not inserted into the USB 2 port. I look at the spec of the ports and I see my Mini has USB 3 ports (4 of them, and none of them seem to allow me to finish the config). I can use a utility and see that when I connect the stick, the MAC sees it, and even identifies it as an EyeTV device, it's just the software doesn't see it. Any ideas?

I have an iMac running Lion 10.7.5
I have 2 external hard drives the newest of which is fine. However the older one - a FREECOM 160 GB external hard drive had one of its occasional brief 'disappearances' a few days ago. I usually shut off, reconnect and it reappears. This time it reappeared as an empty drive, suddenly renamed as "UNTITLED" and appears lost…none of the FAT32 data I had stored on it from my old Windows PC years ago is visible any longer - it just shows as a free space.
I tried Repair in Disc Utility but nothing changed, except maybe that is when it became "Untitled" although the main heading for it remains as "ExcelSto r Technology J81 Media" in DU.
I tried plugging the Freecom into a PC today and it recognised it as containing a long list of items but all were all greyed out and as 0 bytes None of the file names made any sense, did not represent the titles of my missing files and none could be accessed or opened. It also showed 100% free space available as though the drive had been erased of all my old data.
It looks as if I have reformatted it but I cannot see how/when I could have done this even by accident! I am the only person using this Mac
Has the Freecom disc simply 'FAILED' and the data which mostly only exists on this disc is now lost permanently ? Or is there a way to get my iMac to read it as it used to…??

IPhone 4 not recognised by USB

My IPhone 4 has always synchronised and charged correctly through ITunes either on my Windows laptop or on my 2010 IMac.
The last few days it has been behaving differently when I put it on charge.. First, no charge icon.. The battery charges, but extremely slowly.
My windows machine says that the USB device is not recognised when I plug in.
My IMac simply does not see the phone. ITunes shows no devices.
I can no longer synchronise the phone with ITunes.
Have tried resetting the phone and this makes no difference.
The phone has not been dropped or exposed to liquids.
Does anyone have any experience of similar issues? What can I do?

I've been through all those and apart from anything else, itunes is not seeing my phone, I therefore cannot restore the phone.
Have tried deleting and reinstalling itunes in case something was missing there, though the fact the problem is on both my mac and my windows machine seems to me to suggest a phone problem..
Is it possible that the latest IOS update which I did a week or so ago was not completed correctly? If so could this cause the problem? And how can I correct it?

IPhone 5c charging from PC USB port, but PC won't recognize device.

Just got an iPhone 5c today, working pretty well except for when I plug it into my PC, the phone will charge, but my PC will not detect that it has been plugged in; not allowing me to sync it with iTunes, or put pictures straight to my computer.
Anybody know of a solution? I tried "CopyTrans'" solutions, but they didn't work. This hasn't happened with my iPod Touch Gen 4, or my iPhone 4.

Okay, umm.. Just installed iOS 8.1, when it finished; my computer recognized it. But then it suddenly just started frantically beeping(Windows Connect/Disconnect bleeps). Moved it to a new port, and it no longer detects it. Moved it back to the original port, and will no longer detect it..
