Iphone non charging with adapter

My iPhone 4 does not charge when plugged to the adapter but charges when I plug it to my Mac.
The adaptor and the cable work perfectly (I use them to charge my iPad).
How can it be?
Thanks.

Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. If not fixed, clean again without small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol. If not fixed, and if there is Warrany or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

  • My ipad will not charge with adapter

My iPad2 suddenly stopped charging with the AC adapters (all 3 that I have). It will charge with the computer USB port, very slowly.

Does the iPad charger charge the iPhone?
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • IPhone only charging with ihome

I recently updated my phone to ios7 and I didn't have any problems until now. I tried to plug my phone into the wall charger that I use every day, but it did nothing. I also tried to connect the USB chord to my computer and charge it that way, but again it did nothing. I tried changing the chord and plugging it into my old iPod. The wall charger charged my old iPod but not my iPhone, so I know it's not the charger itself. I then plugged my phone into my ihome, and it finally charged.
I'm not sure why my phone will not charge with a wall charger...I never had a problem before ios7.
    Please help?

Why should I have to buy ANOTHER new ihome that's compatible when mine worked just fine until I installed firmware 2.1, and 2.2 doesn't work either. Please apple fix your f*ng bug with this so it works with the older docks/hardware again. It worked before, there's absolutely no reason it can't work now. HOW CAN I MAKE MY IPONE WORK WITH MY IHOME DOCK AGAIN? IT WORKED and CHARGED BEFORE I UPGRADED TO FIRMWARE 2.1

  • My iPhone 3G charges with a charger, but not when connected via USB to my computer and iTunes doesn't recognize it.

Hello, my iPhone charges when I charge it with the wall plug but not when connected to a computer via USB and my iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone either. iTunes recognizes my iPod and iPad just fine. I have been to Apple iPhone support page and I have restarted my iPhone, the computer, tried different USB ports, etc. I have also tried my iPhone on different macs even with different versions of iTunes and no luck. This all started when I was cleaning out some lint from the usb connector, could I have damaged some part of the docking connection? But why does it charge with a wall plug then?

I fixed the problem. When I was trying to clean the connector of the iPhone I must have bent some pins. I have straightened them to the best of my ability and now it syncs. If your iPhone charges, but doesn't sync, most likely you have a similar problem, because the iPhone doesn't need all of its pins to charge, but it does need all of them to sync.

  • Why won't my iPhone 6 charge with any other charger but the one it came with? please help!

My iPhone 6 won't charge with any other charger, can anyone explain why?

Make sure both the charger and connector are certified and that they are in good working order. Test them with another iPhone if possible. If the charger is working, then the problem might be the lighting connector port. Check and see if it is dirty. If not then there might be a hardware problem. Take the phone in to an Apple Store or authorized service provider for evaluation and possible replacement. Take the cable and charger as well.

  • IPhone 5 Bumper with adapter

    Hey guys,
I can't find an iPhone 5 bumper case to use with my 8-pin to 30-pin apple adapter.
    Do you have any clues?
    Thanks,

doesn't seem to be one, would this work, not entirely sure what it is? http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC598ZM/A/apple-iphone-4-universal-dock-adapte r-3-pack?fnode=45 or any other third party products?

  • TS3297 Ipad 1 won't charge with adapter, will it work if I connect to a computer?

My first gen ipad isn't charging with any adapters so Im wondering what I can try before going for a new battery. Any advice?

Are you using the adaptor that came with it? You cannot charge the battery from a computer's USB port or from an iPhone/iPod charger.

  • CHARGE THE IPHONE  IN VIETNAM WITH ADAPTER

ANY ONE KNOWN I CAN TAKE MY IPHONE TO
VIETNAM AND USE ADAPTER TO CHARGING MY
IT IS IPHONE AUTO VOLLTAGE 60 MZH TO
240MZH PLEASE HELP THANK YOU VERY MUCH

I wouldn't, because most inexpensive power converters have a significant risk of failure and could damage the Apple charger. Most are also only 50 watts, which is marginal. And the high power ones aren't converters at all; they just filter half the waveform, and will certainly brick the Apple adapter.
The Apple charger says (which you can read for yourself on the device) that it works from 100V to 240V and 50 or 60 Hz. That covers every form of electrical power used in the world.
If that isn't good enough you can buy an "international" charger from Apple. It is actually the same charger you have already, but comes with interchangeable plugs so you don't need a separate plug converter.

  • IPhone 4s charger with Japan plug used in Australia

    Hi, first time question.
Two years ago I bought an iPhone 4S (black) in Australia with an Australian plug for my partner.
Last week I purchased an iPhone 4S (white) from an Australian supplier on Ebay Australia. The phone arrived and (somewhat unsurprisingly) it had a foreign charger plug. It's Japanese. The seller provided an AU electricity adapter so I assumed no problems.
When used with the newer iPhone, it appears to work fine. However, when used with the older (AU purchased) iPhone, I see some strange things happen when I open the Google app whilst the phone is still plugged into the charger and charging is in progress. The iPhone (or something) randomly clicks on letters and/or sometimes activates/presses the Video button on the Google app and/or activates the camera button from the iPhone keyboard that pops up once a letter has been typed in the Search field. There doesn't appear any rhyme or reason; it just appears to be random. But it only seems to be happening with the older AU-purchased iPhone and not on the newer phone that the Japanese plug came with.
I'm baffled as to why. And should I be concerned? I went and bought a local iPhone charger from the Apple store as I was sick of it happening.
I have tested it several times and the occurrence keeps repeating. Is this a known problem? I tried to find info online but could not find anything similar to my problem.
    Any info/thoughts appreciated.

Sorry for the slight wild goose chase on the above, but I have actually worked out that it is a US model, MD260LL/A, not a Japanese model.

  • Can you use a Iphone 3GS charger with an ipad2?

I don't want to damage my new iPad that I bought over in the US that obviously came with a American charger!

i've tried various ones but i will have to admit they were 3rd party dock cables.. like energizer and i could never seem to get them to attach to my iphone 4, so i gave up. im pretty sure when the iphone 4 came out they did away with the little tabs on the side that you depress to attach or let go of the cable and i assumed it was these tabs that prevented energizer's brand of dock cable from staying put. ill try again i guess. i've tried like 3 different models and none of them seemed
to fit and i don't want to force it

  • Iphone not charging with iHome or Sony clock radio

OK, a little off topic. My iphone charges fine with a wall outlet or USB port connected to my computer. I bought a Sony clock radio (iphone compatible) and the phone won't charge in the dock. I took it back and got an iHome model (again iphone compatible) and it won't change there either.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Before you take it back, give iHome's service department a call and see if they have any suggestions.

  • Why does my iPhone not charge with the wall charger?

i have recently purchased an iphone 4 (within the last month). it has charged via the wall charger at first but now, the wall charger does not work. it does charge by connecting the USB cable to my computer. is there any way i can get my wall charger working? or will i have to get a new one? thanks.

Try a different wall socket - if you haven't already and/or try this.... reset the iPad
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. then try again.
You could also try updating your software as I have no idea which version you are running on your iPad.

  • Why is iPhone non-compatible with other USB peripherals?

So last night what I presumed was a simple update to 6.1.3 turned into 1.5 torturous hours. The reason being that I left my webcam plugging into my PC while doing the update on iTunes. Later on, the phone wouldn't even restore, but once I unplugged the webcam, it went fine.
Can anyone tell me why iPhone/iTunes has such a problem with copying with other USB peripherals being plugged in? No other USB item I have shows this level of imcompatibility.
    P.

Because it pulls maximum power from the USB port while most other USB devices do not.
