IPhone not appearing inside iTunes

Running latest iTunes on Lion. My iPhone 4 is configured to sync over Wifi.
Since some days my iPhone does not appear within the sidebar after starting iTunes.
I can force iTunes over Wifi syncing directly from my iPhone but the iPhone won't appear inside iTunes.
How can I resolve that?

  • Iphone not appearing in itunes on wifi

After updating to 11 my 3gs does not appear in Itunes as it used to when both it and the laptop are on the same wifi network .  It will sync when attached by a cable but not otherwise.  I have restarted both but no luck.  Did I miss something?
    Don

Tim - were you able to get this resolved?  I have had this same issue.  Usually a full reboot helps but I have also been able to close down iTunes, open Activity monitor and kill the usbmux process and iTunesHelper process.  Then open up iTunes again.
I think, and this is only my opinion, that when iTunes is open and you close the lid (put it to sleep) the usbmux that it uses to sync over wifi gets funny when it wakes back up.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone not appearing in iTunes after 3.1 update

Hi everyone....I went to update to the 3.1 OS for my iPhone 3G but during the update it got stuck at the "connect to iTunes". I have uninstalled iTunes and AMD services multiple times. I managed to restore the phone but after the restore it doesn't appear in iTunes and the screen is now stuck at "emergency call" now and "connect to iTunes" and can not restore my back up data. My computer doesn't seem to recognize my phone at all but does recognize my iPod touch. If anyone has any sugestions on how to get it to work I would appreciate it because I really need to get my phone working properly.

I'm having a similar problem. I was running the same update. Not only does I-Tunes fail to recognize my I-Phone, my I-Phone is not operable. It just displays the moving circular icon in the middle of a black screen, as if it's doing something. What a drag.

  • IPhone not appearing in iTunes and is not recognized by Windows

I just got the Iphone with Tmobile and its not working. The screen just show pluged to Itunes

Keep in mind, the new iTunes is in a different format.  To revert to a more familiar format:
In the top menu bar in iTunes, select
    1.  View
    2.  Show sidebar
Is the device now on the more familiar left hand pane or still not recognized?

  • Iphone not appear in iTunes

    Hello,
I have an iphone 4 and a Mac. I tried to sync my phone today and I am working for over 5 hours and for nothing.
I have OS 7.1.2 for iphone, I upgraded the Mac to OS Yosemite, I upgraded for the latest version of itunes 12.1, I have a brand new and original USB cable, I read all the help regarding the issue, I restarted both devices, I removed all the other usb devices. The phone is not visible in itunes.
Please I need an answer if you had this kind of problem this year.
    Many thanks!

  • Iphone not appearing in itunes

iphone 4, latest software + itunes 10.6.1.7 running on windows 7.
I've had several problems lately. First off, itunes wouldn't show, even though the process was running in Windows Job List. Now, it pops up occasionally, but when I connect my iphone 4, it doesn't show in the left panel in itunes and hence can't sync.
I've tried rebooting, rebooting my iphone, reinstalling itunes, deleting everything apple, rebooting, reinstalling itunes, deleting everyhting apple AND vacuuming my Program Files folder and the shared folders with a third-party extermination program to make sure NOTHING was left. THEN reinstalling itunes, but to no avail.
Now, after following all the suggested routes in the apple support realm, (restarting bonjour, apple mobile device thingies and so on, I turn to you, the users. Please help, what am I doing wrong or not doing? I'm no wiz, but no n00b either, and I would appreciate any experiences you've had like these.

    Hi randers4,
Thank you, but I've been through this as well. I apologize for calling it "deleting all apple", but when I say this, I mean, following all the steps, in the right order, of deleting every single piece of Apple software on my PC, then rebooting and reinstalling iTunes. I then again followed all the steps, in the right order, and then deleted ALL files AND folders associated in ANY way with Apple, then rebooted and reinstalled iTunes, rebooted again (just to be sure) and restarted, but no change.

  • IPhone not appearing in iTunes - everything tried including Genuis appointment

    Hey guys
Common questions I know but I've tried everything and wouldn't post here unless I had:
    Ensuring mobile device is running
Uninstalling / Reinstalling itunes (in the right order)
    Genius appointment
Changing anti virus from AVG to Avast to see if that was blocking it
    Using MSCONFIG
Still nothing. The phone is recognised but just won't appear.
I know it's probably something stupid and something simple but I can't see what it is.
Any help please get in touch. It's been working fine until the past couple of weeks.

My problem was solved by re-installing Mac OS X Lion.  Some critical program in the System library had gotten lost somehow.  After re-install, iPhone shows up normally.  According to the Console log, the program that was missing had a name like "usbmuxd".

  • IPhone not appearing on iTunes after IOS 5 update

After installing IOS 5 iTunes update the computer asked to re-start my PC.  I beleive that my connected iPhone 3GS was still updating so, when the computer re-started, the update to the phone terminated.  After re-booting iTunes has been updated but my iPhone just has the image of the USB cable and the iTunes logo on it.  Nothing I now do makes the iPhone appear on the iTunes directory.  I have successfully installed the new firmware onto another iPhone 3GS but the original phone is unresponsive.  Anyone know how to install the software onto the phone when it doesn't appear on the iTunes directory?

i have the same problem. although my mac didnt ask for restart, installation stopped half way through the updating, and it comes up with unknown error 1 , once ive managed to exit recovery mode( the usb and itunes logo) apple logo appears, and then its loading and THEN ITS TURNING ITSELF OFF and ON - > after that apple apears - loading... and yeah goes in circles.
I've tried to restore previous copy but itunes wont let me do it anymore, it comes up with an error.
I've edited hosts, and it's still not working.
    ... any ideas anyone?

  • Why do the playlists i made on my iphone not appear in itunes ?

When i make playlists on my iphone they work fine on my phone, but when i plug my phone into itunes, under my iphone tab it only shows the playlists i made on my computer and not the ones i made on my phone. This isn't really the big issue, though; what concerns me is the fact that whenever i add new music to my phone itunes deletes all the playlists that i made on my phone. Some people have said to just make a new playlist in itunes that exactly matches the one i made on my phone, i know in theory that would work, however i currently have 61 playlists, many of which have almost 1000 songs arranged in a specific order. It takes me hours to copy over a single playlist and i simply cannot do that 61 times every time i add music to my phone. Also i manually manage my music and i can't change to automatic becuase my itunes library doesn't match my iphone library, so that isn't an option. The part i don't understand is that this has never been a problem until recently, possibly after an itunes update. Some people have said playlists made on your phone are like "on-the-go" playlists and itunes doesn't sync them. But i distinctly remember back when i used my 3rd gen. nano i could make on the go playlists on my ipod but i couldn't name them, so i would plug it into itunes and they would show up there and i could name them. It was the same thing with my ipod touch except i could name them without having to use itunes, but they would still show up in itunes. I remember it being the same way when i first got my iphone (4s), i'm not sure what changed, but i can't keep re-doing my playlists every time i want to add music. Isn't there a way to export a playlist then import it?

I have the same exact problem. let me know if you figured anything out

  • IPad/iPhone Not Appearing in iTunes After Updating iOS from 8.0 to 8.1.1

After updating my iPad and iPhone from iOS 8.0 to iOS 8.1.1, neither device will show up any longer in iTunes. After the update completed, I received the following error message in a pop-up window:
"iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. An unknown error occurred (0xE800001F)."
I've restarted both devices and my computer and have the most up-to-date version of iTunes installed. I'm on a Windows 8 PC.
    Any suggestions?

  • IPhone is not appearing in iTunes 12, USB not recognized by Windows 8.1

    S.O.S
My iPhone 5s is not appearing in iTunes 12.
Windows 8.1 says "USB Not Recognized".
iPhone not appearing in iTunes 12 on iMac and MacBook Pro as well
iPhone can charge with no problem.
Try different cables and same problem nothing changed.
    I had tried;
    Reset and Restart iPhone.
    Cleaned the charging input.
    Tried in 3 different computers.
I can't perform the method like uninstall/reinstall the USB driver on my Windows because in my Windows the USB showed unrecognized instead of "Apple USB/iPhone USB" on Device Manager.
