IPhone not backing up or syncing on Windows 7

I have an iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s; just got the 5s.
When I try to back up either phone to iTunes on my Windows 7 machine, I hit the back-up button and it looks like it is backing up for a second but then it goes back to the way it was and still displays: "Your iphone has never been backed up to this computer."
This happens with both phones. Also, both phones will back up to my Macbook Pro machine. However as it happens, my Windows machine has all the content that I want to manage, so I'd really like to get it working.
I've tried doing a complete reinstall of iTunes multiple times with reboots in between. I put the phone into device mode and restored it from the Windows machine.
It will connect, the computer will recognize it, I can see what is on it, but it will not back-up and it won't sync. Also, I can't set the phone to sync via WiFi. It says it is set, and I hit apply, but the change isn't made in the phone.
Help, I think I've run out of options!

Hi there SC1133,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps for backing up to iTunes found in the article below.

  • Iphone not backed up

"Iphone not backed up" does not get off my screen even when i press ok

Try resetting the iPhone, just hold botht he home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Or you could also connect the iPhone to the computer and backup the iPhone.

  • I keep receiving a message on my Iphone 4s stating the following: "Iphone not backed up----This iphone hasn't been backed up. Backups happen when this Iphone is plugged in, locked and connected to a wi-fi."  Is this a real message?

I keep receiving a message on my Iphone 4s stating the following: "Iphone not backed up----This iphone hasn't been backed up. Backups happen when this Iphone is plugged in, locked and connected to a wi-fi."  Is this a real message?

    Yes. It's a real message.

  • Resetting Phone with No Power Button and iPhone Not Backed Up Message Blocking the Slide to Power Off Feature

I've learned how to reset the phone after an iPhone Not Backed Up message cannot be clicked off of, but my Power button is not working and I've been using the greyed out screen button to lock the screen and power off. Now it is not working to turn the phone off for a reset because the iPhone Not Backed Up message is in the way of sliding the power off feature on the screen. Do I have any options?

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep\Wake and Home Buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears

  • IPhone not backing up with 6.1.2

Today I downloaded the new 6.1.2 iOS for my iPhone 4.  Everything went well and it installed properly.  I then connected my phone to my computer to sync it to my iTunes account.  It seemed to work fine except that it did not back up the iPhone.  I got a message that said "cannot start session".  I looked online and tried all the various things I could find such as turning off computer and phone, deleting the backup in Preferences, etc.  Nothing worked.  I can sync perfectly fine with my iPad which I also updated with 6.1.2.
Any suggestions.  Never had this problem before tonight after I upgraded to 6.1.2.
    Thanks for any guidance.

Looks like apple is kiding with us. Ive had phone call problem since Ios 6.1 and now after 3 days I ulgraded to 6.1.2 this ****** issue has returned. Again the other part will listen me if I scream HELLOOo in the first second and then everything works fine or if I wait 1 minute but none can wait that.
Im really angry with this company always they mess up after each update

  • IPod touch 4g will not back-up when syncing with iTunes

I was wondering why my iPod touch 4g will back-up when syncing in iTunes. I have tried rebooting the iPod and pc, but still no luck. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks if you can.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • Restriction password lost, but iphone not backed up,new back up would save this password  right?

Restrictions password, not working(same one did on IPad) iphone is not backed up, to do so now would back up the restrictions  right?

That is correct. The restrictions passcode is part of the iPhone backup.

  • One iphone not recognized, but another is in Windows XP

I have a user that has an odd problem.
This person has 2 iPhones - a 4 and a 4s.  This week the 4 stopped being recognized by Windows XP on his laptop when he plugs it in.  It won't charge from that computer either.  However if you plug it into another computer it will see it fine (and charge it).  The 4s will recognize and charge fine on his computer.
    To recap:
4s - works fine - syncs and charges when connected to his laptop or any other computer.
4 - not seen by his computer, will not charge.  Plugged into a different computer, it works fine.
I'm kinda stumped on this one and I haven't seen a precident that matches this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I FIGURED IT OUT. THANK FREAKING GOD!
    This is what I did:
I went to control panel and unistalled iTunes completely, then I installed 10.6.3
http://support.apple.com/downloads/#itunes which you can find here
It came up with an error saying that my library had beed used with a more updated verision, basically had to upgrade. I installed iTunes 10.7
After it had installed and iTunes was running I hooked up both my iPhone and my flash drive, I have more than 1 usb port I figure most computers do now, and by the time and date in the bottom right corner a small icon came up showing that I had devices hooked up. It showed both my iPhone (but did not know what it was) and my flash drive. If you right click on the iPhone it has the option to Troubleshoot it. I did it and my iPhone 5 now FINALLY SYNCS!
    I'm sooo happy now.

  • How to sync iPhone 3G with MacBook (previously syncing with Windows)

Hi, I just bought a my first Mac ever, it the brand new MacBook 13" and so far I'm loving the whole Mac experience. I have a question though. I have an iPhone 3G and until now I sync it with my other Win machine. Everything is ok there. However, I'm now thinking to start using the iPhone with my MacBook but I don't know how to sync the iPhone with the Mac without losing the info I have in the iPhone. I'm not concerned about the apps, music or videos because I know to transfer that kind of info to another machine (i did it already with my iPod touch and the iPod classic and everything went fien, I didn't lose any data in the process). However, with the iPhone I don't want to lose the contacts and the saved SMSs. Can anyone tell me how to sync the iPhone to my Mac easily without losing anything? btw, I have no songs in the iPhone, just one free app (midomi). I heard that I can automatically get the app in any other computer as long as I use the same iTunes account so the server remembers that I "bought" it.

thxs Scott, that is actually what I thought that would happen but I wasn't sure. I will give it a try later. Btw, when you say: "make sure to backup the info", do I need to do a backup manually or, is it ok if I just connect the iPhone to the old machine so iTunes can make the automatic backup?
    cheers.
Nah, just sync it with the Windows machine before you begin. Odds on you won't need it, but if you do, then at least it is there.

  • Playlists made on iphone not saving when phone synced to itunes

I was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem or knew how to fix it; When i'm on the run i'll buy songs from itunes or i'll edit playlists on my iphone for easier use while i'm driving, but when I sync my iphone onto my macbook to transfer new songs, it gets rid of the editing I've done and I have to go back and do it all over again. Is there a reason why my playlists wont keep? Its kind of a pain to have to keep re-doing them over and over.

Do you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, or are you manually managing music and video with your iPhone?
If the former, after downloading a song with your iPhone the song should be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so. If you are doing the latter instead, it wont. Manually means manually.

  • Iphone not charging or allowing syncing of contacts?

Hi this is my first post,I have 2 problems.
My iphone has stopped charging with the wall charger, i plugged it into my laptop and it will charge, does that mean my wall charger is broken?

Yes, the AC charger sounds like it may not be working. Also, read this and see if you can get it to connect.

  • How to prevent iphone notes from deleting after syncing to itunes

Every time I sync my phone to itunes, i lose my important notes! i know how to access them after this happens but I want to prevent them from deleting at all! Please help!

    Hi there KeenMathura,
There can be a few things that might cause this issue where music is not alphabetically organized on your phone. Resyncing content is certainly one of the steps to use to troubleshoot that. Next I would quit all the running apps on your iPhone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes and then restore it as a new device and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Why does my iPhone not allow me to sync after iOS5 upgrade?

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4to iOS 5 and I lost everything from my phone (all apps, music, contacts, etc.) and cannot sync to my iTunes account.  Any help out there?

It might have a software issue that needs to be resolved.
I would first try to reset the device by holding the home button and sleep/wake button until you see the apple logo. Then release. Wait for the phone to come back on and try again.

  • Iphone not being recognized by Itunes for Windows. 0xE8000001 Error

I am trying to upload some music on to my new IPhone, every time i connect my iphone, itunes does not recognize it. I have the latest version of ITunes 7.5.0.2. I reinstalled itunes several times, restarted Apple Mobile Device Service serveral times but still no luck. Please Advise.

I had the same exact error. I am from the US and don't have any jailbreak crudy on my phone.
I fixed the problem by resetting and erasing the phone; shutting down the Mac; Resetting NVRAM (boot->CMD-O-F, 'reset-nvram', 'shut-down'); Resetting PRAM (boot->CMD-P-R, hold until it starts booting); load up iTunes; restore iPhone backup.
Do you have to go through all these steps? I don't know. But this worked for me.
