Iphone not charging after attempt to upgrade to 3.1.3

I tried unsuccessfully yesterday (2nd time) to upgrade to the latest software version 3.1.3. The upgrade failed, and I believe error code was 16. Now, my IPhone has low battery, itunes won't recognize it, and when I turn iphone on, a picture describing connecting the usb to Itunes appears.
Please help.

While it does not mention error code 16 specifically, this KB article talks about failed update attempts and how to correct them. See if this helps you.

my New ipad stopped charging after i upgraded iOS 5.1.1 , please help. It shows not charging either its connected to USB or adapter.I am using the same adapter and cable that came with ipad.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPhone not charging after 1.1.3 update

This may or may not be related to the 1.1.3 update. My update went fine yesterday. Took my iPhone home with a full charge. This morning, the phone had turned itself off, as the battery had drained. I did not have either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connected, and had no open applications (e.g. Show Traffic was not on). Now it seems that the iPhone will not receive any charge either from the dock-computer, or directly from the wall power socket, using the power adapter supplied.
The phone is legal, and has no 3rd party apps on it, or ever has had.
Anyone else experience this and can provide more information, or a fix?
    Cheers.

I also had this problem after the 1.1.3 update. The problem is not that the phone is not recharging, but that it is not indicating that it has been recharged. To fix, simply reboot or do a hard reset:
Press the home button (the big circle below the screen) and the sleep wake button (the button on top of the iPhone) simultaneously.
Hold both buttons simultaneously for a few seconds, Ignore the "Slide to power off" and keep holding
The iPhone should now shutdown automatically - (fade to black)
Turn the iPhone back on by hitting the sleep/wake button.
You should now see the Apple logo, your iPhone is restarting and thus booting up.
You have completed a hard reset successfully.
The Iphone should now correctly indicate its level of charge.

  • Firefox will not open after attempting to upgrade to v5, sys restore didn't help

Was running 3.6 with no problems, but trying to upgrade today apparently broke it. The upgrade failed for some reason (the old .exe is still the only one in the Firefox folder & I can't find any files newer than April 2010 in there), but no matter how I try to run it, nothing happens - Firefox will not open, period. I tried reverting to last week with sys restore, scanning for malware with Malwarebytes, but still nothing happens. I'm using WinXP 5.1 media edition SP2 (yes, it's been around a few years but it works for me). I'm now using Chrome which seems to run just fine, tho I miss all my plugins.

[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application With Firefox completely closed] (probably because you can not start it), open the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory application folder] (by default, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox on Windows) rename firefox.exe to firefox1.exe, then double-click firefox1.exe. If Firefox runs without problems, it could indicate that your firewall is blocking Firefox.

  • IPod not recognized (for sync OR charging) after OS 4 upgrade

I upgraded to OS4 on Saturday July 10th with no problems. On Sunday (July 11) I used my iPod quite a bit. I was at a friend's house and the battery was getting low so he charged it through his computer. It charged completely and we continued using it the rest of the day. I plugged it in to my PC to charge it Sunday night and it was not recognized at all (for charging OR for syncing) through any of the USB hubs. I asked my friend the method he used to charge it that day and he confirmed it was via computer. Monday night I tried charging it through a friend's iMac. It charged halfway, though it still wasn't recognized. Tuesday morning I tried to charge it on the same computer and I got the "too much power drawn from the USB hub - HUB deactivated" message on ANY of the HUBs. It still doesn't work on my own home computer (though it HAD been working Friday night and Saturday morning pre-OS4 installation).
I'm personally running Ubuntu 10.04 but obviously only was able to charge the iPod on that system. Anytime I want to sync or download music I restart to Windows Vista (and iTunes).
I do also have apps installed, but nothing new from the previous OS - (I know that blaming third party apps is a common cop-out answer for apple techs).
I hope this wasn't too confusing. My real problem is simply described by my subject line: iPod not recognized (for sync OR charging) after OS 4 upgrade. What follows is simply everything I've done to troubleshoot. The only thing I haven't tried is restore...because my iPod isn't even recognized by iTunes.
I would greatly appreciate any help or stories related stories/situations. Strength (and hopefully solutions) in numbers!
    Best,
    Dan

Assuming you haven't got the cords mixed up with another, older iPod, it sounds like you have a couple of problems:
    1. Your computer's USB ports have quit working. Reboot your computer and see if they reactivate.
    2. Your friend's iMac generated that message because you tried to charge the device from the low power keyboard USB port. iPods need to be charged off one of the main USB ports or a powered hub.
    3. iPods not being recognized by iTunes can be caused by 1) wrong cable; 2) non-functioning USB ports; 3) iTunes not being the correct version for the iPod OS; and finally 4) Apple Mobile Device Services driver is either stopped, missing, or disabled.
To troubleshoot a problem with Apple Mobile Device Services, see the Apple support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567

  • My Iphone 4 will not charge after Ios7 update, does anyone know how to fix ?, My Iphone 4 will not charge after Ios7 update, does anyone know how to fix ?

My Iphone 4 will not charge after ipdate to IOS 7.0.4, Does anyone have a solution ? I have tried apple cables and chargers. I see many have the same issue. Anyone made progress ?

No offence, but as with quite a few others, my Iphone stopped charging on mains after iOS 7.0.4 update too.
Not sure you can categorically advise that "it simply is not a software issue" when so many different people are having the same symptoms after updating their iOS   Just have a quick Google!
Luckily my (original Apple) cable will still allow recharging via USB to a laptop. So, process of elimination would point to a bricked charger that was working faultlessly up until the iOS 7.0.4 update was applied. Seems quite a stretch to be a coincidence.
Look forward to an explanation ..... and an update? ......

  • IPad 5 won't charge after ios 7 upgrade

iPad recognizes charger but does not charge.  Never had an issue before ios 7 upgrade.  Is this something I will have to take in to have repaired or is there a simple solution?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? error 1

Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? I get an unknown error 1 message. Thanks.

I have the same problem. Something happened during the download and froze iTunes. After spending three days searching these forums with the dead iPad, the only thing I got to work was to try downloading iOS 5 using my sons computer. This worked. However I cannot now get my computer's iTunes to sync with my iPad.. It contains the same error message (1602) and has the same problem as before. It is not an antivirus problem. I need some help too

  • Most of my apps do not work after 3.1 upgrade

Most of my apps do not work after 3.1 upgrade. I have done a softboot 2 times and they still willnot connect.

Are you running the current version of the 3rd party apps on your iPhone - have you checked for app updates with iTunes on your computer?

  • IPad 2 switched off and not charging after iOS 7.1 update

iPad 2 switched off and not charging after iOS 7.1 update. Pls help me. I have tested my charger. Its working in another device. But my iPad 2 is not charging with other adapters too. What to do??

    Hello, 92.romil.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would make sure you are using an Apple branded cable with your iPad.  If you are, the troubleshooting steps in the article below may help.  The steps listed below for the iPhone and iPod still apply to your iPad.
    Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • Ipad mini not charging after 6.1.2 ios update

I just updated my pad to the latest ios, then what i noticed is that it can't charge anymore. Charging is is still possible through laptop though but it's TOO SLOW... this is surely because of the update... what can we do... hopefully apple fixes this SOON...

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night.
