IPhone not in iTunes (after following all steps listed in Apple support)

My iPhone is not appearing in iTunes, even after I followed all the steps listed in the apple support assistant. (It is still being recognized as a camera when plugged in) The steps I already tried include updating iTunes software, restarting iPhone, restarting computer, updating computer software, and choosing a different USB port...
I have Mac OS X 10.6.3, iTunes version 10.6.3, and an iPhone 4 (without the newest software update).
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Okay, now I tried to complete #5 on that webpage you just posted, and have lost iTunes...
I followed the steps for Reinstall the Apple Mobile Service Device, but the reinstalled version is only for 10.6.8 and later. I have 10.6.3. How do I get iTunes back after I uninstalled it?

You will need to do what it says, contact iTunes Support. These are user-to-user support forums, if you thought you were contacting Apple by posting here. Go here:

  • IPhone not in iTunes after Re-install of Tiger

I had to dump Leopard because it was causing all kinds of problems on my Mac Pro. I'm starting all over with a new install of Tiger 10.4.10. You cannot believe how angry I am at Apple over this force to backtrack to Tiger.
BTAIM, I'm now re-registering all of my applications and assumed my iPhone would be recognized by iTunes when I plugged it in to the dock. Its not, naturally, so now how do I get it to show up so I can add music, movies, etc.
Again, you cannot believe how angry I am with Apple over the poor quality of Leopard.

Actually I had to reinstall iTunes and the iPhone is now recognized. I've lost everything associated with it - music, videos, contacts, notes, etc., but I didn't have to reactivate it. Account user information is probably held on the AT&T server but my iPhone personal information (pix, contacts) are still on the iPhone but I dare not turn on the syncing of individual tabs until I can get that information off the iPhone and back into iTunes.
Since the reinstall of Tiger I've had no problems with the OS at all. The upgrade to Leopard cost me an awful lot of valuable data - data I was unable to get off the main hard drive and save without the system freezing and having to start over each time. Everything from the Documents, pictures, movies, music folders were erased but the applications and their settings are all there. What aren't there are the registration codes and each time I run a third party applications I'm asked to insert those codes and register before the app can be used. Most I have in email (retained on the server) but many early or older registrations are lost and I'm forced to re-buy.
That's the price you pay for believing in Apple's ridiculous claims that their new OS is ready for prime time. I'll wait until it is 10.5.9 before I give it another try, if I do at all.

  • Profilemanager not opening even after following the steps provided in Firefox website

    I wanted to set profile.
When trying to open profile-manager using:
    firefox.exe -p
    or
"\path\to\firefox.exe" -p, firefox browser is opening.
SO restarted my system and tried again. The problem persists.
    Please help.
Mine is 64 bit Windows7 OS
    Firefox version 30.0

The key is to make sure Firefox is completely closed/exited first before trying to start Firefox with the ProfileManager. Otherwise a new window will just open instead.

  • Even after following all of the steps, CC still will not let me sign in

My problem is that even after following all of these steps to the T (the steps are here: You are no longer signed into your Creative Cloud applications), including the showing hidden files part, Creative Cloud will still not let me sign in.

Am I correct in understanding that you are trying to sign in to the Creative Cloud Desktop app, but when your provide your login information, it says it is loading and gets stuck doing so? If this is your problem, we are both having the same problem. After I provide my login information, the loading spinner appears and I get stuck logging in.

I have had about 9 iOS devices at work do this.
The fix and it will wipe out anything on your iphone is to connect it to your computer and have the latest version on iTunes open.  Hold the Power/Sleep and Home button till it blanks out.  Keep holding the home button untill it says recovery mode on the screen of the computer and do a restore.

If you are using the old Firefox Start Page - http://www.google.com/firefox - Google has something messed up on that page. I'm starting to wonder if they are charging Mozilla for the click-thru's to the Firefox download page??
The new default Firefox Start Page / homepage - '''about:home''' - doesn't give users that incorrect message.

  • ITunes continues to crash, even after following ALL of the suggestions offered here. Now what?

iTunes opens properly, but will shut down (crash) after approximately one minute, whether it's playing something or not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (even with the help of Apple tech people to ensure I have done it properly). I have followed all steps offered on the link that Apple has to rectify this situation. When I created a new user, it worked for a couple of days, but then went back to crashing. I played it in compatibility mode (windows 7) and it worked, for a day or so, but then went back to crashing. I even tried installing an earlier version of iTunes, to no avail. I give up.

If an Apple Store is too far then you could check and see if you have an Apple Authorised Service Provider near you, check the link below:
    https://locate.apple.com
Alternatively you could ring AppleCare and see if you have postage service options in your area. You can find the contact number in your country at the link below:

If the iPod was originally purchased just 3 months ago it is still within the Apple 1 year limited warranty. Now if the iPod has a manufacturing defect then the replacement will be free under warranty but if the fault is caused by any physical/liquid damage then the replacement would be at a cost to you. The cost is different in every country, you can find the pricing in your country at the link belwo for an out of warranty service:
