IPhone not playing alert tone after switching off silent mode
Hi I have been having an issue ever since getting my iPhone 6 plus where when I take the phone off silent mode the alert tone does not play when I receive a SMS, iMessage etc. The phone vibrates but does not sound the alert tone, all other sounds work like lock sound, keyboard clicks and ring tone.
I have updated to the latest IOS 8.1.3 but the issue still seems to be happening.
I just had a chance now to troubleshoot and noticed that this has something to do with the volume control that you pull up from the bottom of the screen.
with the volume set to the minimum setting the alert tone does not play but it does play with the volume set mid-way or maximum. Depending on the volume setting depends how loud the alert tone plays.
I can reproduce the issue with these steps:
turn volume to minimum using the pull up menu at the bottom of the screen
set phone to silent using the switch on the left side of the iPhone
lock the screen
take the phone off silent mode
receive an SMS and the alert will not play.
has anyone else come across this issue? i never had this problem with my iPhone 5 and i always had the volume set to a minimum.

It sounds like you are turning down the volume for alerts with the Control Center volume control, which is like turning them down with the side buttons.
Control Center - iPhone
Control Center gives you instant access to the camera, calculator, AirPlay, and other handy features. You can also adjust the brightness, lock the screen in portrait orientation, turn wireless services on or off, and turn on AirDrop. See AirDrop.
Open Control Center. Swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen (even the Lock screen).
You may want to change the Sound Setting to not have ringer and alert volume change with buttons.
Volume controls - iPhone
Lock the ringer and alert volumes. Go to Settings > Sounds and turn off “Change with Buttons.”

Sound does not come back on after switching to silent
I have an iPhone 5 and quite often i have to switch my phone to silent.
When I switch the phone back to normal, there is still no sound & I have to turn the phone off & back on again.
Is there any fix for this.
Also When I hit an area of bad signal (like the underground) my phone goes into NO SERVICE, as you would expect, but when I'm back above ground, my phone stays on NO SERVICE, resulting in turning the phone off & on again.
As a result of this I have to check my phone regularly to make sure that I have service.
Is this a problem with my phone, or are other people having this issue.
Apart from that I'm loving the 5....I've had this problem with my iPhone 5c since April 2014 through several updates of iOS. In December 2014 I got my wife an iPhone 5s. She has the same problem. We're both seeing this on the latest update of iOS version 8.1.3.

My Iphone 4 will not switch off silent .... Please help.
I Updated My IPhone 4 on the 2nd of Jan 2013 and since then it will not switch off silent mode with the switch on the side of the phone , does any one know what i can do or if there is any other way to switch it off silent ?
First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, but it can clear some glitches.

I’ve tried to update my i-Tunes version after the site suggested I should following my i-Pad Air being plugged into it for the first time. The update seemed successful but the program would not open at all despite switching off the PC and re-starting several times. I then tried wiping the original software from the computer and re-downloading from scratch. Each time I tried the download failed with a message saying “Service “Apple Mobile Device” failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services” At this stage, the only way forward was to “abort” the download. This I have done now four times and the same thing happens. When I did finally manage to get an i-Tunes shortcut on my desktop, the program wouldn’t open saying: “i-Tunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install i-Tunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)” Any ideas to resolve this?

Disk permissions changed after switching off FileVault

I found my disk permissions changed after switching off FileVault, nearly everything belongs to "system" now.
Can anyone PLEASE tell me what permissions are standard for
-Desktop
-Applications
-System
-Libary

Thanks a lot...Assuming you're just talking about the Owner being System then:
The owner of Desktop should be your user name.
Applications and System should be System. Since these are not in your Home folder these permissions would have been corrected when you ran Repair Disk Permissions.
The Library folder depends on which Library folder you are talking about. If it's the Library folder that's in the same folder as System and Applications, then the Owner should be System, as well. Again, if that is not in your Home folder, then the permissions repair would have corrected it.
If, however, it's the Library that's in your Home folder, then it should have your username as the Owner.
Filevault only affects things that are in your Home folder so turning it on/off doesn't affect permissions anywhere else. -

Can not play any video after update to 4.4.2, it says always that i have to reconnect my HDMI Cable, reason HDCP error.

Do you have a case on your iPhone? It could be pressing the buttons on the iPhone and causing it to restart or behave unusually.

How often does the rebooting happen? Does it happen more frequently when your are running some specific application or function? Also what SW version is your phone currently running? You can check this by dialing *#0000#.

I have installed video card and plug it to TV through HDMI divice, after switching off my TV i have no sound. message that no out put divice is installed.

For the issue, please check your Sound setting.
Firstly, let us unplug the HDMI Device.
Meanwhile, please open Control Panel>Sound:
Please check your default sound device to see if it remains use HDMI.
In addition, let us use the Audio troubleshooter, it can diagnose and fix common sound playback and hardware problems.
