IPhone not recognising plugged into computer
My computer beeps when the iphone is plugged into it but.............
1. itunes doesnt come up nor does phone come up as a external device
2. my phone doesnt recognise that its plugged in, it doesnt charge or sync
I've been through the itunes diagnostics such as updating itunes and my phone (via phone), resetting it etc but nothing helps.

IPhone not recognised in My Computer, but is in itunes
About a week ago my iPhone just stopped being recognised in My Computer. Before this it was fine, it would recognise and I could move ohotos from my phone to an external hardrive. All of a sudden its not showing up there though?
It is recognised in iTunes and charges when attached. It even has the 'beep' sound it usually does when it is recognised.
I have tried a different cable, different usb port, enablibng and reabling the driver as per Apple site.
I have the latest updates on iTunes and my iPhone 4.
I tried it on an old computer I have and it is recognised there and I can transfer photos on that for now until I can get this issue sorted.
Any ideas?I have the same problem too. My phone wont show on my pc that's why I can't move my photos. But it does show on itunes.
Then I went to device manager and this is what I found. I dont know what to do though. -

I have a new computer with Win 8.1 on it. When I plug my phone into my computer it comes up with Apple IPhone and says there are no files or folder in this view.

Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black. Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in so I cannot restore or anything. Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously. Has anyone had this problem? I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.
Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem! -

Itunes does not recognize my iphone when plugged into computer it recognizes it as a still camera. I have installed the lastest version of itunes and gone through the troubleshooting tips and still have the same problems.Hold Sleep Button with Home Button toghether until it restarts Always it takes 8 to 15 seconds, after it restarts leave the sleep button and remember do not leave the home button it automaticlly switches to DFU mode.

IPhone will not charge when plugged into computer
My phone was not working, and so I took it to the apple store nearby. Here were the problems:
-error message saying "this device not made to work with iPhone"
-would not charge when plugged into computer OR wall charger
-person on other end of phone calls said i sounded really far away and had trouble hearing me
-when i shut it off, it restarts itself immediately
-cant do a manual reset holding the power and center buttons at same time
-when plugged into the computer, mouse freezes, and a message appears saying ""power surge on hub port A usb device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port."
At the genuis bar they told me they cant help me cause that little water damage indicator inside the headphone hole is pink instead of white! I have never ever ever ever ever EVER gotten my phone directly wet. The only thing i could think of was the humidity in the bathroom when I'm taking a shower, and using the timer to use hair remover on my legs lol. But i think this is totally unfair, they wont repair my phone, or even really look at it because of this supposed water damage. My phone has worked fine up to this point, and the thing that happened that started all of this is when i dropped it about a foot off the ground in a DRY parking lot.
Is there any way they will replace my iphone at no charge?Well don't give up try again maybe your luck will change when you go back up there,let somebody else look at your phone not the same person that told you that.I would get a second and a 3rd option about my phone.When you go back don't even tell them what somebody already told you up there ones.
And after the 3rd time I'll ask them well can they send your phone off to be fixed,It might not be nothing wrong with your phone it might be just they eyes playing tricks on them.Cause I promise you I know my phone had gotten some water in it cause I was sitting on the porch one day me and about 6 other people one of my cousin came out and through a bucket of water at my brother and I was sitting right on the side of him.And when I say my phone look like I than gave it a bath witch when they did that I had already had call the Apple store and told them something was wrong with my phone.And they had gave me appt to come up there,so I went to the Apple store I wanted say two day's latter after I made the appt to let them see my phone but my cousin and brother was playing with that water the day before I had to go so I guess that's why I was mad cause I was going to get other phone the next day after apple look at my old phone.So even with all that they still gave me other phone and I don't see how I didn't have no water in my phone cause of how much water they had through on my phone.
I guess I was luck cause if they would have told me that I would have freaked out so badly.And the reason why cause I wouldn't had my phone for five days and for them to tell me they couldn't do something oh yea they would have done something cause I would have went to jail that day for tearing up something in the store that worth my 400 and something dollars I spent on my phone and it would have bent one of them computer that would have bent history.
But I'M telling you,you going to be okay don't give up.Make you other appt and see what they say. -
iPh 4s plugged into computer iTunes to update. When I came back to ck on it msg said ph not found. Ph showed plugin w/arrow pointing to iTunes symbol. Turned ph off/on but same thing on screen. It is frozen. Now what?
Additional comment from Carl 37: Phone is locked up with screen showing usb cable end with arrow to iTunes logo. What can I do to regain use of phone?

That screen is telling you the iPhone has gone into recovery mode, and you need to use the recovery mode instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 to attach to a computer running iTunes. Summary of instructions:

My iPhone 4S is not recognised by my computer when I try to sync. I am looking to upgrade, is it just easier to purchase a new one, then manually transfer data and information? I don't want to try syncing and backing up data to just lose it all. As the new one I plan to get is a newer model, I'm thinking it is just better to do it manually, but then I have the issue of syncing the new one to start.

Thank you for asking your question! It sounds like your iPhone is not recognzied in iTunes when you connect it to back it up, or update the device. I would try the troubleshooting in either of these 2 articles depending on what operating system you have:

my iphone has a usb cable with a itunes symbol and when i plug into computer it wont show up on itunes

My iPod itouch when plugged into computer just flashes the apple logo otherwise it just won't start. Try to reset -nothing.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Does anyone have a fix for my ipod which is not recognised by any computer. Have tried the software reset, putting into disk mode, but no computer will see it as a device. The ipod will however charge by the usb.
I have tried another 5th Gen on the same computer which is recognised everytime.
Cannot use the system restore as the computer does not recognise it..
