IPhone not recognize by PC but is recognize as iPhone camera

Can somebody tell me why my computer is not recognizing my iPhone 3G as iPhone but as iPhone camera? Is there something wrong with my iPhone 3G? Please help

Hey Dave,
Check for outdated driver software being used with Logitech QuickCam/Webcam products, Lexmark scanners, or built-in media card readers as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502
Check for the outdated software in Add/Remove programs, just uninstall it and test again. Then download and reinstall the latest software available from the manufacturer.
Also, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2280

Trust me when I say this coming from 20 years of experience.
Get a powered external drive, format it 1 Partition Option: GUID and OS X Extended Journed as the format in Disk Utility.
Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, clone internal drive to external drive.
Set a schedule to remind you to do it at least once a week, keep it near your charger.
When you plug your charger in, do plug the clone and power the machine up, set the display to sleep only,
    CCC will do the rest.
If you want to boot from it, hold the option/alt and select it Startup Manager.
I've seen many TimeMachine and TimeCapsule nightmares and so far haven't seen a problem from anyone using a bootable clone.
It's simple, it's easy, it's more reliable and more powerful than what Apple does and it only takes plugging in a extra cable.
Make as many clones as you want, keep them time seperated, off site etc. etc.
Cables don't have network issues, clones can be verified in seconds merely by booting from them.
Clones protect your productivity, your up in seconds on a clone despite even the hard drive dying.
Software problem? No sweat, boot of the clone and reverse clone your problems away.
If you want to fuss and muss with half implemented TimeMachine and TimeCapsule network headaches then prepare to suffer.
I don't like to suffer, I bought a Mac not to suffer, but it appears you do with TimeMachine and TimeCapsule.

  • IPhone not recognized by iTunes, but listed in "My Computer"

    Hi,
I have exhaustively searched the other threads as well as Apple support. I am running Vista 32-bit. I just received a replacement phone and I have literally never had so much as a hiccup recognizing, syncing, etc. on my laptop which is the only computer I have ever used with an iPhone. When I plug in my new phone initially, a pop up appears stating that Device driver is being installed. It will then appear in "My Computer" as a camera, but does not appear in iTunes.
    I have un-installed and re-installed iTunes.
I have un-installed and re-installed the driver for iPhone. When I go to the device manager and attempt to install device driver manually, the message appears "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to intall it. The phone is recognized on my desktop computer and my iPod is recognized on my laptop. So I am assuming it must be something that is setup on my computer that I need to delete, modify, add, etc. Please someone help.

When I start ITunes and plug in my IPhone, ITunes will recognize the IPhone as normal, after about a minute, my IPhone will disappear and disconnect from ITunes. I have the most current ITunes and IPhone versions, I have tried different USB cables and different USB ports with the same result. The IPhone will still be listed as a camera in My Computer but not recognized by ITunes. If I unplug the IPhone and plug it back in, ITunes will recognize it again but drop it after about a minute.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
It sounds to me like it could be something to do with some power saving mode you have on your computer, such as screen saver or some other power saving mode. Do you have a laptop or desktop PC? as I am more inclined to think that a laptop might cause it if it were running on battery.
The power saving modes/screen saver etc should be in the Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click Power Options. In the power options box, have a look around in here and temporarily switch off the screen saver, and adjust the various power option values for the various parts of your computer, to the maximum length/or switch that option off so that it isnt used. After these adjustments, restart your computer and load iTunes up and see if the problem remains.
I never put my iPhone in airplane mode when syncing and I have never had your problem. But if my suggestion doesn't work, then it might be worth trying Piperox13 suggestion.

  • Iphone 3g not recognized by itunes but recognized by pc as camera? HELP!

I have been through the help pages, checked that i have the most upto date itunes.
I went through the Verify iPhone Driver/Service Installation page. When i open the DEVICES page i scroll down to the USB lists and there is no iphone or apple mobile device listed. I look under Imaging devices and there it is Apple mobile device.
I have tried rebooting my pc rebooting the iphone tried differnt usb ports and unplugging every other usb device. Yet when i plug in my iphone in the bottom right hand screen corner a bubble appears which says "digital still camera". Then asks me which program i'd like to open to view my pictures! If i leave it attached it charges the iphone but does nothing else.
My husband can connect his iphone not 3g to the computer and it syncs no problems.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Attach your iPhone to your PC.
Open up My Computer and locate the iPhone on the list of drives. It might call it a camera or imaging device.
Right-click on the iPhone in the drive list and select "Properties."
On the "Events" tab, select "Take No Action." Make sure that nothing else on that tab is selected.
    Click on "OK."
That should stop it from asking what program you want to edit your pictures with.

  • IPhone not recognized by computer, but is charging just fine?

    Hello,
    I have synced my phone before with my iTunes just fine, but lately I've had issues. I plug my phone into my computer and it charges it just fine, but no trust notification or anything has shown up. No indication of it being noticed at all happens. Now before you answer, let me explain some things;
    1. I've tried three different cords, old one, and two new ones.
    2. It is no where to be found in device manager or anything of the sort.
    3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all of iTunes at least three times, to no avail.
    4. Restarted and updated everything multiple times as well.
    5. Tried two other computers, nothing.
I have iOS 8.1.2, and the newest iTunes (12.something.)
    Anyone have any ideas?

Well, this is the support document for an iPhone not being recognized with iTunes in Windows. iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
When you removed and reinstalled iTunes, did you do it by following the instructions in this support document? Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
If you did not follow the instructions above, it can cause additional issues for you. With the phone connected, you say you do not see it in device manager, do you see it in Computer? Do you see any USB error in device manager?

  • @Yahoo emails: not arriving to Mail (but work on IPad & iPhone)

It doesn't seem to make much sense; but I have problems with my my @yahoo emails coming into Mail - but only on my MacBook Pro (OSX10.10.2), other devices do work.  So in brief:
    1) Email can send out via Mail (Password used for Outbound authentication) - but the same password entered, and emails don't arrive in to my account.
    2) Emails will both arrive and send from my iPhone and IPad (IoS) devices.
    Efforts to re-set:
    - I have logged out and then in multiple times on the webmail.
    - I have changed the password on Webmail access, and then copy and pasted across to Mail.  (outgoing mail still works, but inbound does not)
    - I have changed it via Mail / Accounts and also Mail / Preferences / Accounts
This has happened before about 4 weeks ago, but then came to life after three days.
I suspect a Yahoo server issue, albeit that i can't work out why emails can come to IOS, but not to OS X - but then again i'm no expert so there may be a reason?!

  • How do I sync my iPhone notes with my iPad, but not my Outlook?

I have several email accounts syncing to my phone, including my work email which runs through Outlook. I noticed the other day that my iphone notes had been synced to my work email, which I do not want. I want my notes to sync to my ipad, but not to my email accounts. • My MacBook is not recognizing USB drives, but it recognizes my iPhone.  Can someone assist me?  Thank you.

I am trying to get my mac book to recognize the thumb drive.  When I go into Disk Utilities it does not show up there either.  I have no problem syncing my iPhone to it so I do not think the USB drives are bad.  Can someone help me out?  Thanks!

I am getting the same issue with my MacBook Pro. If I go for a long peroid of time without restarting it starts to 'forget' USB sockets. First one stopped wortking and then the other. I restarted and they both beagan working fine again. Try giving that a go - I know it's an obvious option but it worked for me.
Otherwise check the file system on the thumb drive - is it Mac compatible? FAT 32 for example? Does it show up on other computers?

  • TS1363 itunes doesn't recognize my ipod but does recognize my iphone.

I tried to restore but it now my ipod is blank and my itunes library won't sync with the ipod. The ipod is recognized in My Computer.

If the iPod was not being recognized by iTunes (as it says in the topic title), how you were you able to run a Restore on it?  iTunes runs the Restore, and iTunes can't do that if it can't see the iPod.
This question seem to have come from the Apple article called iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363
Did you go through all of the many steps in that article?

  • My computer doesn't recognize my shuffle but it recognizes my ipod

I just got a shuffle when I first connected it, it recognized it but when I went to go load up my playlist, it doesn't recognize it anymore. If i connect my IPod that connects just fine, my computer acknowledges it. I'm frustrated, can someone help.
    Thank you

I have run out of ideas - sorry. So as a last resort...
By this time many iPods are out of warranty so it'd be easier just to get a new one if you're fed up with it and aren't bothered about loosing what's saved onto it.
I think you can take your old iPod into an Apple store and *get discount off a new iPod*, but I'm not sure if they're still running it.

  • IPhone (not my iCloud account but still has my info and settings on it), able to transfer stuff to correct iCloud on my newer MBA?

This is how it is: Ive been using an iPhone (and cuz I didnt have a usable CC at the time) I used my gf's account and name, pw for this iCloud. CUrrently there is so much info on it I can;t lose - contacts, pix, apps etc.
Now I bought a MBA that I did set up with my own info, the iCloud with my name and pw. However it syncs to nothing. Is there a way to transfer the phone info so its universally shared on the cloud AND switching my phone account so it matches with the one I created so everythings tidy?
thanks... sorry if this is a dumb Q. Recently jumped from a PC and god does a mac feel/look/play better in every conceivable way

No, unfortunately you cannot just transfer everything of your data to a new account. It should work with contacts and some other data, but not with everything. You could try to delete your girlfriend's account from your phone (Settings > iCloud > Delete Account) and choose the option to keep the data for e.g. contacts on your phone. After you sign in using your new account, you will be asked, if you want to merge the data on your phone with your new account. Photos, the one that are stored locally, will be still on your phone.

  • Computer doesn't recognize my Nano but does recognize my daughters.

I've been using the computer/Nano for over a year now. All of a sudden, the computer isn't recognizing my Nano. When I connect it, no drive is assigned although a new Mass USB Storage Device does appear in Device Manager.
I tried connecting my daughter's Nano to my computer and it is recognized. I reied connecting my Nano to my daughter's computer and it is recognized. It's just my Nano on my computer.
