IPhone not seen in iPhoto

My iPhoto does not import my photos anymore from my iPhone, but I'm able to sync albums from the iTunes menu. Any Idea on what is going on?

Try trash the following file
com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501
from HD/Library/ Caches
and restart your mac.

  • IPhone photos not seen in iPhoto - iPhone and iPhoto out of sync

Normally when I connect my iPhone 3Gs to my iMac, iPhoto '08 opens and my iPhone is recognized and all photos on the phone are shown in iPhoto, ready for import. However, my iPhone and iPhoto now seem out of sync. Without my iPhone connected, I opened iPhoto and it shows my iPhone in the device list; instead of showing photo thumbnails on my iPhone, iPhoto displays empty boxes where the photos would ordinarily be. When I connect the iPhone, iPhoto continues to show the empty boxes, rather than the photos on my phone. When I try to import one of the "invisible" photos, I get an iPhoto error message: "The following file could not be imported. (The import failed.)" How can I correct this behavior so that I can import iPhone photos again?

    Try trash the following file
    com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501
    from HD/Library/ Caches
    and restart your mac.

  • IPhone photos not seen by iPhoto

I have photos in my iPhone that I can view, but they do not appear in iPhoto when the phone is connected. iPhoto sees the iPhone, but the photos don't load. When I try to import all in iPhoto, I get an "Unreadable Files" message. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Shouldn't I be able to import from the iPhone into iPhoto?
Yes. You don't need to sync your iPhone with iTunes in order to do so and these are photos that were captured by the iPhone?
Which ILife version and iPhoto version do you have?
Have you tried using the Image Capture application which is located in your Applications folder? If this works to at least get these photos transferred from your iPhone to your Mac, then you should be able to import the photos into iPhoto which doesn't resolve the problem but you may need to do an iPhone Restore. Photos captured by the iPhone are now included with the iPhone's backup file that is created and updated by iTunes if needed just before the sync process but you don't want to depend on the iPhone's backup file for photos captured by the iPhone.

  • Changes in Aperture not seen on Iphoto ?

Ok, I know if I make a change to an image on iphoto it wont be seen in aperture (Iphoto creates new images)
But I tought the reverse worked ? changes in Aperture are seen in iphoto ? .. but mine are not, am I forgetting to do something ?
    example
I imported my iphoto library (keeping the images on their current location)
I open an image in Aperture, edit for exaple red eye, when I open the image on iphoto, the red eye is still there
    any ideas ?

If you are talking about photos that have been exported from Aperture and then imported into iPhoto, then you are right. No change made in Aperture would result in a change to the version in iPhoto.
However, if you are talking about the images you can access in iPhoto throught the "Show Aperture Library" menu item, then changes made in Aperture should show up in iPhoto. You would still need to drag the updated version into iPhoto in place of the old one, but it will be there.
If they don't it is likely because you made changes to a version that was not the stack pick.
iPhoto, and iWeb for that matter, only "see" the stack pick. Any other versions in a stack are invisible to iPhoto and iWeb.

  • IPhone not seen in iTunes after Windows XP reinstall

    Hi
Can anybody please help me with this, I've tried googling the problem and checking the Apple support info but no luck.
When I plugged my iphone 3GS in, iTunes doesn't see it. (Windows recognises the device.)
This worked up until I reinstalled Windows XP (service pack 3) onto a new hard drive, and have installed the latest version of iTunes (10.6.3.25).
I had copied all my data from my old XP installation onto the new hard drive, including my iTunes directory (iphone sync data - apps, music) , so I just pointed iTunes at the directory and it happily loaded all my apps. Note: Version of iTunes was from 2011 - not sure if it was same, I think it was 10-something.
    Note: iphone is NOT jailbroken
    Steps I have already taken:
    - run through all the steps at support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    - checked that my cable is ok (iphone charges and is recognised by Windows)
    - authorised my "new" computer.
    - tested my iphone - I went into a mac store and they plugged it in and it was picked up by itunes on their computer
    - disabled my virus protection while testing (AVG)
    - uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, and rebooted my computer
    - confirmed Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) is installed, and restarted it
Has anybody else seen something like this when reinstalling Windows?

    DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED IN ITUNES
If you have connected your device to your computer and it does not appear in the side bar in iTunes then for Windows computers read http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 or if you have a MAC then read http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591 for troubleshooting steps.

  • IPhone not syncing all iPhoto pix even though Gigs of space left on iPhone?

    Hello,
    I have a 16GB iPhone.
    My iPhoto Library is 2.5GB.
I've "albumed" all my photos in iPhoto.
When syncing my iPhone I've only selected a couple of albums (no more than about 2GB's worth).
For some reason, my iPhone won't accept all the pictures I have selected, even though their collective size is far less than the capacity of the phone. Some of the pictures have loaded but when I try and sync again, I get an error message stating, "No photos were copied to the iPhone because there is not enough free space on the iPhone to hold your photos and albums"....even though according to iTunes own "Capacity Bar", I still have 1.75GB of free space left on my iPhone.
Now, here's something else that is weird that I don't understand.
    My iPhoto library is 2.5GB.
My iTunes "Capacity Bar" says that the partial amount of photos that I've already synced from iPhoto to my iPhone is 11.62GB?
How can that be? How can the same amount of pictures be 2.5GB on my computer and 11.62GB on my iPhone?
Can anybody explain this to me?
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Justin

I'm having a similar problem, I have 70MB of memory remaining, which I know isn't a lot, but I have less than 1 MB of photos I'm trying to sync, and it refuses to let me have them. I can put a 50 MB app on at this point with no problem, but this 1MB of photos keeps hitting some kind of wall.

  • Video from ios7 photostream not seen in iPhoto 11

My husband and I both upgraded to ios 7 this week.
When he shares videos taking from the camera app on his iPhone 5 onto a photostream my iPhone 4S can see it. But iPhoto 11 on my mac can only see the photos in that stream and not the video.
I had the impression that ios 7 has this new capability.
    Any ideas?

It does not yet work in iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac. Both applications will need to be fully updated to be compatible with IOS 7, see: Photo Stream Videos - Aperture - No working?
From the IOS ipad user guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1595/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf
Share streams of photos and videos with people you choose. Friends you’ve chosen who have an iCloud account—and iOS 6 or later or OS X Mountain Lion or later—can join your stream, view the photos you add, and leave comments. If they have iOS 7, they can add their own photos and videos to the stream. You can also publish your stream to a website for anyone to view.
Note, that the manual only says "Friends ..... view photos", not videos.
Sharing videos requires IOS 7 right now, I think. Viewing photos and videos should work with Mt. Lion, however.
I hope, we will soon see an update to iPhoto 9.4.3.

  • Iphone not recognised by iPhoto

I am running IOS 6 on my iPhone 3GS nd wanted to import photos from my phone into iphoto.
however when i do so iphoto does not recognise the phone. It comes up in the sidebar that it is there but has no name
or images. I'm also running mountain lion if that helps.

First try this:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Connect the iPhone and see if it is recognized in the new library.  If it is than you're current library is the culprit.
If your library is the culprit do the following:   make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Iphone not seen on G5 PPC

Suddenly this morning my iphone is recognised/seen when I plug the USB cable in, either on the monitor port or a usb port on the main box. It was fine yesterday. It works on a macbook, and I can use the same cable with the charger. A reboot has not helped.
I did not upgrade iTunes yesterday; the only recent change is microsoft updates for ms office 2004 and safari.
I can plug a USB key in.
    troubleshooting pointers welcome.

  • Exchange calendar on iPhone not seen in iCal

That's it. I finally got my workplace to allow me to synch my iphone with their exchange server. This is great, and I am able to see my work calendar on the phone. But it will not synch with iCal on my MB. That calendar does not even show up on the list in iCal. Any ideas? TIA

I'm having the same issue and am wondering if it has to do with the version of Exchange Server that is running. Here at work, we have Exchange Server 2004. My iPhone is able to sync with my e-mail and calendar events from that server, but iCal apparently only will synchronize with Exchange Server 2007. I don't understand why the iPhone would be compatible and iCal is not under the same circumstances, but I guess this is currently how it is.
