IPhone not synching

I have just upgraded from 10.4.11 where the iPhone synched perfectly. Now using 10.5.4 and when I connect the phone Image Capture opens but not iTunes. I can download the pictures. iPhone appears in the System Profile as connected to the appropriate USB port. iSynch can't find it either. Tried 2 different cables without success. Any ideas?

Removing and reinstalling the Apple Mobile Device Service has corrected this issue for some users. Here's how to do that:

Hope this helps...

  • Sent email from my iPhone not synching with my desktop Mac

I am stumped. When I send email from my iPhone (using my POP account) the email is sent, shows up in my iPhone sent folder but does not show up in the sent folder in the Mail application on my desktop plus the little icon showing that I responded is not there. I guess it is not synching. This is a problem because I often don't recall if I responded to an email from my iPhone and I end up responding again to the email when I see it on my Mac desktop. My synch is working great with contacts and calendars, both push and fetch. I am also receiving emails, push and fetch, just fine. Can anyone offer advice or insight? Thanks!

I am having the same problem. When I send from my iPhone (old version), the messages are not shown in my send folder on my desktop Mac. They are showing up in MobileMe, however. I have checked settings on my Mac and on the phone and still can't figure out what has happened. This all started with the new syncing system.

  • Iphone not synching or showing up under devices in itunes

My iphone 4 suddenly not synching or showing up under devices in itunes.  iPad works fine with either remote or connected synch.  Has anyone experienced this?

    Hi,
By the sound of it I have a similar problem and have also posted a question.
For me it is Iphone 4S and Ipad 2 - so two devices.
They are picked up under my computer but not Itunes/devices. I've also noticed that Itunes store doesnt open?
    I don't have a solution either sadly.
Both my deviced IoS6 and itunes are up to date - think it must be an Itunes issue, but see no suggestions from the Big Apple

  • IPhone not synching w/ iTunes

I recently upgraded my G5 to Leopard and ever since then I have been unable to synch my iPhone with iTunes. I have done all the basic troubleshooting steps and still having the same problem. When I connect the USB cable, the phone will charge and "vibrates" like it is connected, but does not synch. Wondering if the upgrade to Leopard from Tiger changed some settings somewhere. Any thoughts?

NO, it does not show up in iTunes. Cannot click the synch button since it does not show up..as you know. No error message pops up. It just acts like its being charged via an electrical outlet.

  • IPhone not synching all photos.

I am having a strange issue with synching my iPhoto library with my iPhone. For some reason, only about half my photos get synched onto the phone. I had first noticed this when trying to dig up some photos of my son and noticing that I only had the ones from right after he was born about a year and a half ago. Even more curious, when I tried to reset photo synching by turning it off, the phone retained the pictures.  Even stranger, I could not delete them from the iPhone by going to Settings>General>Usage.
My iPhoto library is on my Mac Mini running OS 10.6.8.  My iPhoto version is 9.2.3 (can't upgrade further without upgrading to Lion). I knew this was not an issue with insufficient space on my iPhone because the status bar at the bottom in iTunes indicates that even with the entire iPhoto library synching, 6 GB is left over.
I had seen a similar issue on someone's iPad, and the solution was to back it up through iTunes, restore the OS onto the iPad, and let the restored backup re-populate with data. Unfortunately, this did not work for my iPhone.  I even turned off photo synching before the restore to confirm that there were no photos on the phone after the iOS restore.  I then turned photo synching back on, and once again, only half of my iPhoto library synched.  I got an error message on my phone that "3,268 photos could not be synched to your iPhone because of a problem. Check iTunes for details." However, there was no message in iTunes to indicate what the error was.  The photos just did not synch.
Next, I tried emptying the iPod Photo Cache inside the iPhoto library and synched again.  iTunes rebuilt the cache, but still did not synch the photos.  I got the same error message on my phone, and no indication of a problem in iTunes.
The next thing I was going to try was to rebuild the iPhoto library, but if anyone out there has seen this issue and resolved it, please let me know, as it would save me a lot of time.

    Hi mrchanbong,
When researching the error message you provided, I found the following resource which may assist you:

  • Iphone not synching with mac

My iphone will not synch with my MAC.  This just started.  Iphoto says my phones name in the left nav bar then shows that no photos are available to upload. I have taken newer photos so this is not the case.  The first time I tried it said something was locked.  I went through all of my settings on my iphone5 and nothing seems to be locked.  I rebooted my MAC as that was suggested by someone and that did not work.

I am having the same problem. When I send from my iPhone (old version), the messages are not shown in my send folder on my desktop Mac. They are showing up in MobileMe, however. I have checked settings on my Mac and on the phone and still can't figure out what has happened. This all started with the new syncing system.

  • IPhone not synching all selected albums

With the iPhone connected to the computer and the music tab selected on the iTunes/iPhone page, "Sync music" is checked and the radio button for "Selected playlists" is selected. In the window containing my playlists, several playlists are checked. If I click on "Apply," only some of the playlists are transferred to the iPhone.
Also, if I uncheck "Sync music," I get a warning that all music will be erased from the iPhone, but that doesn't happen either.
    Any suggestions?

Sorry Ralph, not answering your Q but I have the opposite problem. For years I happily downloaded checked playlists on to my Nano. I'm now the proud owner of an iPhone and when I check playlists and synch many, but not all albums are downloaded to my iphone too. I cannot find how to stop this.

  • Why POP Mail Account on Iphone not synching for incoming mails

I just setup my iphone mail account as a POP client to synch up with my corporate Outlook Mail.
For the outgoing mail server I used cwmx.com and for incoming I used the hostname provided by IT support person , with username and password as I would use on my outlook client.
No SSL used in our case.
The setting went fine as I did not see any errors,
but when I try to synch for new mails, it says checking and than says updated, but I don't see any mails coming in.
The send mail works fine from this account.
    Can anyone help.

I think what you mean is that you cannot have an email POP account on a laptop and on iphone look for the same messages on the incoming server.
I mean exactly what I provided. A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. When a POP account is accessed with more than email client, the setting for removing messages from the server when downloaded needs to be off with both email clients used to access the account.
And if accessed with more than one email client, you cannot have both email clients actively accessing the incoming mail server for new messages at or near the same time. If one email client checks the incoming mail server for new messages followed by another email client doing the same at or near the same time, the incoming mail server will lock the account's Inbox mailbox preventing the 2nd email client from accessing the account's Inbox mailbox and downloading new messages if any are available. This is a temporary lock and is due to a POP account being designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
The same does not apply to an IMAP account which is designed to be accessed with more than one email client with multiple email clients being able to access server stored mailboxes at the same time.
Please answer my question which was copied from my previous post and was provided first.
*Since this is a POP account, what is your account setting with Outlook for removing messages from the server when downloaded?*

  • New MacBook, existing iPhone, not synched before previous laptop died

    Hi
I hope you can help me.
I have an existing iPhone 3G and recently bought a MacBook Pro when my windows laptop died. I hadn't synched my iPhone for a few weeks and now have some music and apps, downloaded from iTunes direct to my iPhone. These apps and music are not on my MacBook (everything else is because I had it all on external hard drives).
Now, when I try to synch music or apps, iTunes advises 'all existing songs on karen's iphone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your itunes library'
So what will happen to the music and apps I installed directly yo my iPhone? Any ideas? Surely I won't loose them?
Any help is gratefully received by this apple newbie!
    Karen

Thanks very much.. that seems to be working... of course, as usual, it has identified another problem.. my MacBook is full!

  • IPhone not synching with iTunes - Windows 8.1

A quick search finds that Microsoft Support is referring people to this Apple forum.
The iPhone does show in "This PC" (formerly "My Computer).  Device Manager reports that the device is working properly.
I will keep looking, but any help is appreciated.
    Dell Laptop - Windows 8.1 - 64 bit - 4 gigabytes of RAM.

The iPhone will only show in My Computer if there is content in the Camera Roll. The device cannot be searched/mounted like a removable drive.
Do you have a passcode on the phone? Try disconnecting the phone from the computer, unlocking the phone with the passcode and then connecting the phone again. It seems that Windows 8 and 8.1 will not always recognize the phone if it is locked.
If that does not work, then see this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

  • Why will my iPad and iPhone not synch to my iTunes?

I have reset all my devices, re-formatted my computer and everything.  It times out, gives me messages saying it cannot synch, or locks up my computer but never synchs. Can anyone help me?

Under iTunes, in the 'info' tab have you enabled them to sync with outlook? you have to choose that and turn it on. It's not on by default.

  • Events created on iPhone NOT synching to Calendar - and I'm all up to date

I'm on a MacBook, running 10.4.10, all software is latest up to date, running iPhone 1.0.1.
I have a Calendar event I created yesterday for today (3pm appt). I've plugged/unplugged to sync repeatedly, iTunes reports sync is finished, but the event doesn't make it onto the MacBook's Calendar.
This is deeply alarming as I thought I could count on iPhone created events to migrate to my Mac and .Mac calendars - anybody know anything more about this?
    -mike

I'm experiencing a hybrid variation of what everyone else in this thread has reported.
    *Calendars*
I am using Entourage, and have two calendars set up in iCal. One is labeled Entourage and according to the notes, "This calendar is automatically created by Microsoft Entourage" so I'm leaving that one alone. I also created a second calendar named "iPhone". I have my iPhone sync preferences in iTunes set to sync with both calendars. Up until today (I hadn't synced calendars in a few days), everything seemed to move to and fro without any issues.
This morning though, the items I changed in iPhone successfully synced to both calendars in iCal, but did not carry over to Entourage. Even the "Entourage" calendar in iCal reflects all the changes. Similarly, items I added in Entourage are not making it over to the iPhone.
In iTunes, I have the preferences set to add new events from the iPhone into the Entourage calendar.
    *Contacts*
Contacts don't appear to be syncing in either direction.
Short story long, it looks like iCal and the iPhone are getting along swimmingly, but Entourage isn't syncing. I find this odd since the Entourage-created calendar in iCal looks fine - I would think if Entourage is showing as updated in iCal...then it would be updated in Entourage.
I did reset the sync history...that didn't appear to do anything helpful.
Entourage is my main calendar/address book...so this is a bit frustrating.

  • IPhone not Synch from Mac

    Hi,
I have a few notes in my iCloud mail. Some, from the beginning of the month. have appeared under Notes on my iPhone 5, but others have not, most noticeably one I updated recently. The default setting for Notes on my iPhone is iCloud. Can anyone tell me what I'm mean to do here.
    Thanks
                   D.

That should have been a good answer, but I had done all of the steps previously on all my devices.  Not sure why it's not working (at least not all the time).  I suppose, I could disable and start again, but, I hate to do that.

  • Iphone not synching properly

songs in the library and playing fine - just not loading onto the phone - manually selecting Albums only - Thank you.

I've got the same problem. Email syncs fine, as do contacts. Calendar attempts to sync, shows me a bunch of calender events, then they vanish and the phone continually loops trying to sync.
This is making the phone run red hot, likely chewing up a **** load of 3G data and emptying my battery in hours.
This only happened after a USB sync post installation of iTunes 8.1. Prior to the sync this worked just fine.
Nice work on the iTunes upgrade Apple.
