IPhone not syncing - error 1139

Since recently I receive the following message from iTunes when I'm connecting my iPhone to sync with it. Does anyone know what I can do about it?
The iPhone "name" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (1139).

I am getting the same error. In iTunes, when I highlight my iPhone and click on the "photos" tab, my phone is trying to sync all photos and albums. The choice of "select albums" is there but is not available to select as it had been in the past.
So anyone know why we can't select that option anymore?

  • IPhone not syncing with iTunes

I check all the correct boxes in itunes on my lap top when my iPhone is connected, the capacity bar shows the extent of the data to be synced including about 20G's of audio, but when the sync is completed the capacity bar in iTunes shows no memory used for audio and there is no music on my iPhone. I've rebooted both my laptop and iPhone yet I keep getting the same results.

I have the 2003 17" iMac (flat panel on a moveable chrome arm, round base; aka "iLamp"). I sync my iPhone to it on a regular basis. USB1.1 is a lot slower than USB2 but, in general, it works.
I have run into some quirks that seem to be USB-related. For some reason, when the Keyboard/Mouse and iPhone are each connected directly to the back of the iMac, the iMac thinks the iPhone is connected through the Keyboard. I solved this by moving the Keyboard/Mouse to a USB hub (at <$20, much cheaper than a new Mac). iTunes does not like to (a) auto-sync when the iPhone is docked and further (b) be open before the iPhone is docked. I've turned off auto-sync in the iPhone's Summary tab in iTunes and always dock the iPhone before launching iTunes. If I have pictures on the iPhone that have not been synced to iPhoto yet, iPhoto will launch when the iPhone is docked. Sometimes, iTunes won't find the iPhone or will error out when there are un-synchronized photos.
Overall, I'm satisfied with using the iLamp and an iPhone. Enough so that it is tiding me over until I decide when to buy a new MBP or MB.

  • Iphone 3g sync error

I have been trying to sync my iphone 3 for months. The only way I get it to sync is to restore it to the original settings. Everything goes fine till I get to step 4 of 4 and I get the message "Itunes could not back up the iphone "iphone" because an error has occurred". I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Itunes has the most current version and my phone is up to date. Can anyone please help me?
    Amanda

I found the culprit. I was logged in to my account, with my wife's account active in the background. Her account had iTunes open. When I logged out of my own account (having closed iTunes) and went back to hers, her iteration of iTunes popped up a bunch of notices about trying to sync my iPhone.
Thus, I quit iTunes under her account (and made sure no other accounts were active), logged back in to mine, opened iTunes, and am now successfully syncing. Problem solved.

  • Ipod touch could not sync error 13019

i'm trying to modify a playlist on my 3rd gen ipod touch (add/remove songs) whenever a make a change i get the message "ipod could not be synced. an unknown error occurred (13019)
everyone else who has this problem solves it by simply unsyncing / resyncing their ipod, but my problem is i absolutely hate apple, itunes, and their tyranny over your ipod and have never synced this ipod once since ive got it. this way i can (normally) freely add and remove songs to/from my ipod from any computer. its worked for the past two years or so and i dont know why its acting up now, but i will NOT sync my ipod to itunes because i know i will never be able to get away from it. any ideas? it may or may not be my outdated ios

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPOd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • 3G iphone not syncing Outlook calendar from PC

Discovered today that my Outlook calendar and notes are not syncing on my iPhone. I am getting error message 'iTunes could not sync calendars because the sync server failed to sync the phone'.
Tried re-booting my computer which usually clears up most problems I have, but not this time. Also tried going online and found 'Reset Sync History' (from Edit, Preferences, Devices) but am nervous about implementing it.
    Any suggestions, ideas?
    Many thanks...

Found this online, see if it helps..

Thanks to a September 09 posting by MacRumors member Remora, here is his solution for the "Unknown Error (-39)" error and it works!!
Thanks to MR member Aggie for pointing it out to me.

    An easier and quicker way.
This error is associated with your iPhoto library.
    Navigate to <username>/Pictures/iPhoto Library
Right-click on iPhoto Library and show package contents.
Remove the folder iPod Photo cache (delete it, move it to Trash or whatever you want - just remove it from the iPhoto Library!)
Sync your iPhone. The photos will reverify and, bin go, you're done.
I had 3833 images and it took less than 10 minutes.
    All fixed.

  • Iphone not syncing after updating itunes 10.5. pls help

Hi apologies but I am new to all this stuff.  I updated itunes to version 10.5 and I think my iphone 4 was synced in during this.  After itunes had updated I found that my iphone wasnt synced in any longer.  I pulled out connecter and re connected but still nothing.  Rang apple tech support (on hold for an hour in cue).  They tried couple of things and then advised to uninstall itunes then reinstall.  I have done that but still not recognising iphone.  I can sync to my other apple computer but if I try and upgrade to iOS5 on that it says I need to go to the normal computer it is synced with or I'll lose some apps etc.  I dont think my iphone has the latest iOS 5 on it yet.  Can anyone pls help?  Apple support now closed :-(  thanks

I am also in the same boat.
Windows 7 on Alienware laptop - no problems at all until upgrade of iTunes client to 10.5.
After the upgrade, attempts to sync my iPhone 4 hang at "Step 1 of 4: Backing up Rob's iPhone" (for over 12 hours)
I have read hundreds of documents with various solutions.
    1) Delete backup file from C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    2) Stop stuck MDCrashReport and AppleMobileBackup processes
    3) Reinstall iTunes
It all FAILS.  I work in IT and can assure you that nothing changed but whatever was changed by the iTunes application as it was upgraded to 10.5.  This 2 day extravaganza is ridiculously frustrating and creating a rabid anti-apple sentiment in my house.  Why the F would you (Apple) release something that is mandatory for me to use with my iPhone and have it be this buggy P.O.S.?  (Rhetorical - no need to answer, please just fix this problem so I can sync and backup my phone).

I'm having an issue syncing one iphone with my itunes account. I have several other iphones and an ipod that will sync just fine. I am running Windows 8. There was a glitch earlier when the new ios came out that was resolved and everything was working fine... now this one phone is not syncing. The music is showing up but when you hit play it just skips through.

  • IPhone not syncing Contacts to Address Book

I noticed that my iPhone (both original iPhone and iPhone 3G) was not syncing contacts with Address Book. I tried to Reset Sync History in iSync, and when I have tried to replace the contacts on iPhone under the Advanced options, I lose all my contacts on the iPhone!
The only way to get some contacts back is restoring from backup, but unfortunately as iTunes performs a backup of the iPhone on sync, these backups also have no contacts! I have an old backup that fortunately has not been overwritten but the contact list is a bit out of date.
Address Book on the Mac seems to be fine and this is backed up.
It would appear that iTunes has somehow lost its "connection" to Address Book, which is why when I chose to replace the Contacts on the iPhone with the information on the computer I lost them all!
iCal still seems to sync fine with Calendar.
Can I re-link Address Book with iTunes?

    Jason L wrote:
    Hey lim_my,
Are contacts syncing with MobileMe or any other applications?
    I don't have MobileMe.
Now you mention it, Address Book did not appear to even update if I updated a contact in Mail.
Can you sync contacts in another User account? to create another user account goto System Preferences> Accounts> click the lock to make changes> click the + button to add another user account.
Yes I can! I only tried to sync Contacts, leaving all other options i.e Calendars Bookmarks Ringtones Music Videos Applications untouched, and now I have some test Contacts on the iPhone.
You can try Resetting the SyncServices folder, Just follow the steps in this article to stop the service and then delete the SyncServices folder in your user library.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
I had tried this before, within iSync, which did not work. I then tried the command in Terminal as per the above link, then went and deleted the /user/Library/ Sync Services folder. Still no joy.
So it looks as though I have a broken Address Book rather than iTunes. Should I post this in the OS X Leopard section of Discussions?

  • IPhone not syncing with iTunes when plugged in

For the iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, the iPhone is supposed to automatically sync with iTunes over Wi-Fi when plugged into a power source. This is not working for me. The iTunes is connected to my phone over Wi-Fi, and the Settings are all approiate. However, the iPhone will not sync automatically; I need to manually start the sync from either iTunes or my iPhone. It's not working automatically. Does anyone know of a fix? I have a black iPhone 4S 16GB on Verizon.

In iTunes,go to Help > Diagnostics.
    Run tests
If the issue is device not found go to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US
I ran through process to update drivers now phone is charging and recognised by my computer.
Also if need be go to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567

  • Notes Sync Error slows Mac to a halt

Whenever I open Mail, my machine slows down & looking in system log I get this error:
    May 1 11:48:23 iMAC Mail[1305]: notes sync canceled, error:(null)
It slows down TM backups & makes them take over 30 minutes (instead of just minutes with Mail program closed).
I have deleted all the notes...
Even when I turn off "sync notes" and anything to do with "Mail" in .Mac preferences the error persists.
What is it trying to sync with?

delected synservices from app support & all is ok

  • New Laptop, iphone not syncing

I have a new laptop (Windows 7, intel i5, 4gb) and have installed the latest iTunes software.  I have an iPhone 3G.  The problem is that the iPhone does not seem to be recognised by the laptop.  It doesn't begin to charge when plugged in and it does not sync with iTunes.  The cable is working correctly when used with plug charger.  Any ideas?

USB ports are all functioning with no problems with other devices.
And the cable is working correctly too.
I have tried the troubleshooting but some of the options are not visible on my computer.
I have no idea what to do next.
I have reinstalled itunes and the associated drivers.  The phone still does not sync or begin to charge when connected.  Any more ideas?

    Hi,
You did not mention whether you tried creating a test admin user, that might be worth trying.
You could trying uninstalling iTunes completely and then download fresh copy and use the 'right-click' then 'run as admin' approach to installing itunes.
How to completely uninstall iTunes... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305409
You could try connecting the phone using forced recovery as described here... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305797
    You do meet the requirements...
    Windows system requirements
    * PC with USB 2.0 port
    * Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate Edition; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
    * iTunes 7.5 or later
