IPhone not syncing - "Unknown Error -50"

Just starting today, I've been having trouble syncing my iPhone 3G (3.0.1) to my computer. I get the "Unknown Error -50" towards the end of the sync, after backup, etc. I reset the iPhone, restored the software and restarted the computer. I used the supplied cord rather than the dock I typically use. No dice. Help!?!?!

I searched and found several threads discussing this... http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?search=Go&q=%22UnknownError-50%22

  • ITunes could not copy "Song Name" to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (-50)

Recently when I tried syching one of my playlists into my iPhone 4 (Running on 5.1) using iTunes 11.2.0.26 for Windows (Windows XP SP3), I have been having a problem with some songs I acquired recently.  It will sync all the other songs, but when it reaches the song in question, the following error message pops up:
"iTunes could not copy "Name of Song" to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (-50)"
After which, it stops synching songs altogether.
I tried TWO different USB connectors (BOTH from Apple), and the error still occurs.  When I remove the song in question, ALL songs sync normally.
I used the 'Get Info' option to see if there was something in the way the song was coded.  This info is from one of the songs that gets synched normally:
    Kind:                  MPEG Audio file
    Size:                  11 MB
    Bit Rate:            256 kbps
    Sample Rate:     44.100 kHz
    Date Modified:    12/20/2009  4:33 PM
    Plays:               1
    Last Played:      1/22/2010  8:40 PM
    Format:             MPEG-1, Layer 3
    Channels:          Stereo
    ID3 Tag:            v2.3
    Encoded with:   LAME
THIS is the info on the problematic song:
    Kind:                  MPEG Audio file
    Size:                  8.2 MB
    Bit Rate:            256 kbps
    Sample Rate:     44.100 kHz
    Date Modified:    5/1/2013  6:12 PM
    Plays:               1
    Last Played:      5/3/2013  8:40 PM
    Format:             MPEG-1, Layer 3
    Channels:          Joint Stereo
    ID3 Tag:            v2.3
    Encoded with:   LAME3.96
By the way, BOTH song (The ones synching normally, and this unsynching song), where purchased and downloaded from Amazon.com.
ANY information that will help me solved this problem will be VERY appreciated.  Likewise, if you need any additional information, please let me know...
    Thanks for your time.

  • ITunes could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (OxE8000001)

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I don't have the nerves to read through thousands of "I've got the same problem too" replies. I do not care whether anyone has the same problem. So if you don't have any solution do not post! I'm not being rude, I'd just keep this discussion as accessible for other readers as possible. Besides, shouting "me too" doesn't really help anyone. Thank you.
Here's my problem, I sync my iPhone via iTunes 10.5.2, which works fine but after a while it prompts with an error message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (OxE8000001)". This error message will not disappear and I have to force shut-down iTunes. It works OK for a while after re-start but the error comes back after a while. It is a very annoying little problem because I was waiting for WIFI syncing for so long and now it doesn't work properly
Any ideas how to remedy this?

  • IPhone syncing unknown error (-50)

    iTunes v8.1.1
    iPhone 3G v2.2.1
When syncing to iTunes, I receive an "unable to sync iPhone" with an unknown error (-50) message. Have already attempted a full restore of the iPhone and most of the data has synced, except the photos? The phone memory usage suggests that it holds over 2000 photos, but they do not show in the Photos app on the phone.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same issue, and it all started when one day it asked me several times to rebuild the thumbnails for iPhoto. I did it twice and when the message popped up for the third time I canceled and thats when this problem started.
I have trying to find out how to make itunes recognize my albums in iphoto so that I can select only the albums that I want.
presently my only option is to select all albums and photos, but when I select that only option that is when I get the same error message.
    Any thoughts out there?
    Ron

  • ITunes randomly starts, and gives error "could not connect to iPhone because an unknown error has occurred" - with NO iPHONE CONNECTED!

Hi, I updated to 10.5 iTunes. I have a PC running Win 7. I have an iPhone 4.
After updating to the new iOS5, and the attendant iTunes update, now iTunes crashes - a lot - and then won't exit when I click the X. I have to force quit it. Then, it restarts itself a couple minutes later! WITHOUT me plugging in my iPhone! Plus it states it "could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error has occurred."
This is a brand new fresh install of Win 7 - literally 4 days old; nothing fancy on it.
Anybody else having this problem? I've googled this for a while and can't seem to find any answers. It's getting really annoying!!
    Thanks,
    Mike
