IPhone now opening iPhoto when no pictures on the phone to upload

Not sure if this is a general issue or something related to me.
Since the iPhoto update a couple of days ago iPhoto opens every time I connect my iPhone and goes to the screen allowing me to download pictures. There are, however, no pictures available to select for download. There are also no pictures in the 'Camera Roll' on the iPhone so iPhoto shouldn't be being started anyway.

I hate to jump a thread, but this one seems the only remotely similar problem to the one I have. Since the recent iPhoto upgrade to 8.1.1, my iPhoto opens every time I reboot or start the computer. I do not have a camera attached. I do, however, have (1) a 500 GB Seagate back-up drive, and (2) a Kodak ESP9 All-in-one printer attached -- but nothing else, aside from a Bluetooth Razar Orochi mouse my daughter talked me into buying so she could use it for games, which I don't use in bluetooth mode but have hooked up by USB.
How do I get this iPhoto opening on start-up to cease?
I have reported the matter on Provide Feedback as a bug.

  • I am not able to open iPhoto, when I have used the iPhoto Library Manager, I get the message that "the iPhoto Library folder could not be found" Help!

Help!  I can't open the iPhoto!  I have os x 10.5.8 and I have tried using the iPhoto Library Manager only to find out that the folder for the iPhoto Library could not be found.
I have also tried the Fix #1 from the user Old Toad who said to delete the preference file :com.appleiPhoto.plist - I could do that, but I couldn't figure out how to delete iPhoto's cache fie, Cache.db because I couldn't find it?  I'm not sure how to find the file by it's directory path name of HD/User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto .
    Help is very much appreciated!

Download and use  Find Any File  to search for "Library6.iPhoto".  It's a file that is present in every iPhoto library.  If you don't find one on your hard drive then your library has gone missing entirely.
Another thing you can try is to use the Search For - All Images feature in the Finder window to see if you can see any of your photos.
That will tell you if they are on your hard drive but somewhere other than the library.
What do you see when you insert the DVD into the optical drive?  Can you open it and any folders on the disk?  If the disk is titled iPhoto Library  then open the disk, the the iPhoto Library folder and finally the Originals folder.  Check the subfolders to see if your photos are there.
Your original photo files will be in the Originals subfolders.

  • Im plugging in my phone, but when I open iPhoto, it appears as if the phone wasn't connected. What should I do?

I want to put all my phone pictures in I photo, but when I plug it in, It won't appear in iPhoto, as if it wasn't connected.

    Hello,
I am having exactly the same issues as above. When I connect my iPod Touch, it shows up in iTunes but not as a device in either iPhoto or Image Capture.
It was working fine earlier this evening, I had moved all my photos to my Mac (MBP w/ Mavericks), updated to the latest iOS software and said yes to a software update for the MBP.
Photos were showing up just fine, and iPhoto asked me if I wanted to delete photos from the iPod because they had already been imported. I said yes. It proceeded to do its thing, and then about 5 mins later was again showing photos in the device and asking me the same question. I said yes again, and halfway through deleting the already-imported photos from the iPod, it just stopped, and the iPod disappeared from the devices list in iPhoto.
I have not been able to get it to show up again as a device listed in iPhoto, nor in Image Capture. It does show up and appear to work normally in iTunes.
How am I going to transfer over photos next time?
I have tried shutting the iPod off completely, and turning it back on again. I have ejected it from iTunes, unplugged and remounted it countless times. It does not show up as a device in iPhoto or Image Capture. I am at a loss.
Lastly, when I updated to the latest iOS, I already saw the initial "Do you trust this mac?" in iTunes and I already said "yes" on the iPod. It worked fine, until it didn't. Unless there is another way to get the "Do you trust this mac" to pop up again to say yes a few more times, I don't know how I can try that "fix".
Any help would be appreciated... I tend to take a lot of photos/videos, so it won't be long before I'll need to transfer them over...

  • 2.2.1 Upgrade and now Itunes freezes when I plug in the phone

I upgraded yesterday to 2.2.1. A short while later i went to Sync the Iphone 3G to update my music, and Itunes stuck on "Syncing". I had to force quit. I have restarted my Iphone and Mac but as soon as i plug in the Iphone it shows it is syncing on the phone as well as next to the Iphone name in the Itunes window. This then freezes after about 30 secs.
I managed to quit the Syncing from the Iphone screen and then tried to restore the Iphone. again it just freezes after about 30 secs.
I tried syncing my old Ipod and this worked fine! So i think it must be the Iphone not Itunes.
The Iphone still works but just wont talk to Itunes. How can I resolve this please.

I am also having the same results, but different problem. I can successfully sync my iphone to my computer, but for some reason, certain songs and videos cause my itunes to stop everything and I need to close it. When I uncheck the box next to it to sync, everything works perfectly. This would be fine, but I WANT THOSE SONGS ON MY IPHONE!

Hi, I was importing pictures into iPhoto from my sd card and suddenly iPhoto quit.  Now it just won't open.  When I click on the iphoto icon in the dock, nothing happens!  Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it does then your current library has been damaged and should be repaired: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Hi,  iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.   Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos

    Hi,
iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.
Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos on my iPhone, iTunes won't sync ANY photos from iPhoto back to my iPhone. I've restarted my phone, computer, etc., force quit all photo-related apps on my iPhone, and tried various combinations of turning iTunes' photo syncing on/off, switching photo sync folders, etc., all to no avail -- I can't get my iPhoto library back on to my iPhone no matter what I do.
Anyone encounter a similar situation? (I've already sent feedback to Apple.) Thanks in advance.

Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

  • Hi, I have a brand new imac which i got today and when I open Iphoto all i get is the error message "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable" any ideas? thanks

Hi, I have a brand new imac which i got today and when I open Iphoto all i get is the error message "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable" any ideas? thanks

Are there photos in the Library? If not then just trash it and launch iphoto. It will make a new one.
If there are pics in it then Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • When I click "Buy Now" in iPhoto's book I get the following message: Your book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?"

When I click "Buy Now" in iPhoto's book I get the following message: "Your book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?"
How do I proceed?  How do I identify which is "default text?"

What version of iPhoto are you using?
Go thru each page, check the layout to see if there's a text box included on the page and make sure there is text in that text box.  If not it may show the "holding" text like this:
If you don't want to change the page layout to one that only has photos and no text boxes just select that holding text and put a space in its place.

  • Hi, I am worried about the old Iphones, couldn't we change them for another version? I have my Iphone 3, love it, but now I am feeling out of the picture. The phone works perfect...Is there any plan to do so? like recycling?

You can purchase any model (currently sold) iPhone that you desire.
What's the big deal or so complicated about figuring that out?

  • How to stop my iPhone from opening iPhoto every time I connect it to a computer?

I want to stop my iPhone from opening iPhoto whenever I connect it to a computer. I DON'T want to disable iPhoto on the computers because I use different ones. I want to disable the iPhone from being recognised as a camera in any computer.
    TAHNK YOU.

That's a privacy concern. So, if someone steals your iPhone, even though that person doesn't have the password, he/she can still have access to your personal files just by connecting your iPhone to any computer. That doesn't really make sense.
