IPhone on a Speaker Dock

Has anyone used their IPhone on a speaker dock? Is it compatible? What happens if you get a phone call? Anyone anyone??

I have a DLO Homedock Deluxe, which I love BTW. When my iPhone is on the dock it still rings when calls are received. Just remember that if your phone does ring and you are not wearing a Bluetooth headset that answers with a button on the headset - you will need to remove the phone from the dock to answer it.

Can't charge iPhone with Logitech speaker dock

Six months ago I bought a "Logitech pure-fi express plus" to play music and charge my iPhone in the Kitchen. Recently the player has stopped charging the phone. I have upated to OS 4, but my wife has not and her iPhone won't charge on it either. Below is the webpage with the specs for the player.

I really think Ives needs to be reigned in. It is ABSURD that the case and charging the phone are incompatible. The case is tight now but is unlikely to remain so if I pry it off every night to charge.

Speaker Docks 100% Compatible With iPhone 3G?

Are there ANY speaker docks that are truly 100% compatible with the iPhone 3G? Speaker docks that will charge the iPhone 3G WITHOUT a USB connection, won't keep offering to put the iPhone 3G in Airplane mode, and will play music without any interference from the iPhone's cell radio?
If you know of any, please list them in your reply. I haven't found any yet.

I occasionally get that message with a standard iPhone usb cable -- the once that came with my 3GS. This could be due to debris in the connectors: It would not take much to make for a bad connection.
You might want to try cleaning them by using a clean dry toothbrush.

My iphone is no longer able to be controlled by speaker dock or car stereo

I have a speaker dock and also an iphone connection in my car. My iphone 4 still connects to both and I can charge and play music through them, the problem is that the control functionality of both docks no longer works. I can connect friends' iphones and they work fine (I am able to skip tracks, etc) but with my iphone I cannot. Anyone got any suggestions?

Interesting. I thought about posting the same answer, because I, too have had the same experience with video drivers. I wasn't sure if this was a problem that anybody else was having, but evidently it is.
If you dig deep down into LabVIEW manuals, it does make a suggestion to drop the colors to as few as you need. My driver was having problems with 16 million colors, so I dropped it to 256. All my problems disappeared when I did this, too.

My 2nd generation ipod touch won't play on my new speaker dock but my iphone does

I just purchased a new speaker dock for my ipod touch but when I dock it it shows it's charging but no sound comes out of the speakers. When I dock my iphone on it, it plays fine and I know the ipod touch works because it plays on my old speaker dock.

You can try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
Many vendors when they are updating apps for iOS 5 have droped support for iOS les than 4. It could be that the dock manufacturer is not support earlier iOSs and/or the 1G iPod.
I went to nadelectronics.com and only found the:
- VISO 1 which did not really say anything about compatibility.
- NAD IPD 2 Dock which said "Compatible with all current iPods and iPhones. The 1G with iOS 2.x may not be considerd current.

Clock radio/speaker dock that will also charge an iPhone 4? is there one?

I have been searching for a clock radio/speaker dock to use with my new iPhone 4. I have been told that most do not work with the iPhone 4. Is there a clock radio/speaker dock out there currently that will charge my iPhone 4 each night? and will allow me to wake to it as an alarm?

Iphone will not charge unless plugged into a speaker dock

Hi, my iphone charged as normall over night at a friends house by plugging it into a speaker dock. Today it wont charge via a plug and wont connect to my laptop. The speaker i have at home has old hardware and is not compatible with my iphone for charging but it will connect and play music. I dont understand why my iphone 4 wont charge via usb but can still connect to a speaker dock and play music. (i have tried my cables with other iphones so i know its not the cables and i have tried re-starting and removing sim card)

Charging via USB and playing music via USB are seperate functions and not mutually exclusive.
The SIM card has nothing to do with this.
Any difference when connected to the power adaptor?

IPhone speaker dock?

does anyone have any information on if apple plans on releasing a speaker system meant for the iphone? you can put our iphone in an ipod speaker system but it must be on airplane mode to block out all service so the speakers get no interference and give off that annoying beping noise. so is it even possible to get around that interference someday or will we just have to live with not being able to recieve calls while playing music on the speaker dock? thanks

I believe that all the manufacturers would have to do is include some shielding in their unit, but that would up the price of tit. Or you could wrap your iPhone in tinfoil

Could I harm my new iPhone 4s trying to charge it on a iPod speaker dock?

On my desk at work I have a Centrios iPod speaker dock/radio from Radio Shack. It also charges my iPod and I'm wondering if it might be an option to use this device to also charge my iPhone at work? I looked over the manual that came with the speaker dock and it does not mention connecting an iPhone to it. Could it do any harm by trying?

Its funny how easy it is for people to complain about something when they dont understand the full scope of it. AT&T isnt going to spend lots of money jsut to update its servers for a launch of a phone, it jsut doesnt make sense in a busness sense. Anyways they were prepared, they hired lots of support staff to answer phone calls to tell customers to wait until the server traffic lowers. That was their cost effective solution instead of updating server capacities.

IPhone 4s - Charges in Dock but not with Charger...help!?

Hi, I just got an iPhone 4s around a month ago and its behaving quite strangely when it comes to charging.
Initially charging worked fine when I used the wall charger that came with the phone, but about a week later it began to stop charging (it would show as charging, then quickly stop and switch in between) - I tried another USB cable that I had from an iPod and this made no difference.
Following this, I've been charging the phone from my PC (which was working fine) however, this suddenly stopped working as well a few days ago. I alternated between my old USB cable and the new one when it was charging ok - but both have stopped working now.
When connected the phone up to my Laptop, it makes the noise like it has been connected, however, iTunes isn't opening and the Laptop doesn't recognise that the phone is connected - all the while, still no charging.
All the while, I've been charging (and am currently charging) the phone using a dock for my iPod - it charges without any issues.
I've tried the hard reset (assuming holding the home button and on/off button is the way to go) but this makes no difference - unfortunately, both USB cables are also no longer charging my iPod when connected - however they working without issue before.
Is it possible that something has potentially caused something like a short in the cables? One is brand new, so I wouldn't expect that to be the issue, but could the charger have done anything?
Any suggestions of what I could do to get this up and running would be greatly appreciated, as ideally, I don't want to be dragging a speaker/dock with me everywhere I go!

Just to add to this, I've just tried my old usb cable with my iPod in my Laptop and that works fine now and charges the iPod.
New cable does likewise....

IPod touch 4th gen - no sound from speaker dock

After upgrading my 4th gen iPod touch o iOS 5, the speaker dock no longer works. The dock charges the iPod, but iPod still continues to output sound from the internal speaker rather than the speaker dock. My iPhone with iOS 5 works fine on the dock. I have restored the iPod to a fresh state but the problem still persists
What could be the problem?

Based on your troubleshooting, it would appear theat iOS 5 on the iPod made the dock incompatible. Have you loked at the dock manufactore's support site?

Getting daughter Nano for Xmas, is there a speaker dock that does this...

I want to be able to use her nano to go onto a speaker dock for listening in her bedroom.
I want this functionality though, I know the are hundreds of speaker docks..
*To be able to play video out for connection to a TV
*Able to navigate with a remote, through song lists etc (my dock only allows vol up/down/next/prev track)
*FM radio
*Clock radio/alarm
I live in UK
please help me find one, think the hardest thing will be the video out. I have the new dock video out cable for my iPod classic (80G) but would prefer the dock so all functions from that for her

Been searching all day, cant find a dock that can output video from the newer iPods (Classic, nano 4G, iPhone 3G etc) to output to TV for viewing.
They can charge newer ones, but no video out?!?
I know that Apple has crippled the video out and so need "special chips" to be able to output video, but surely they are going to allow 3rd party people to use these chips as well? otherwise its only going to be allowed with the cables

Are there any speaker docks that support Airplay and DAB Radio?

I'm looking for a portable speaker dock that that allows my iTunes to play via airplay but also has DAB built in,
I know I can use apps for this but I want a radio to be available when my iPhone/iPad isn't.
Also, an AUX input is needed, preferably for <£300

You can try looking on the Apple Store Webstie under their speakers. You can then filter by Portable and by Airplay. Most of the speakers are expensive though. If not, you can try these websites.

Use iPhone with Logitech Speaker for Public Address?

I have an iPhone 3G and Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere speaker/dock. (Amazing volume and sound quality for such a small package, but of course no deep bass.)
Is there any way to send my voice out through the speakers, when I talk on a microphone plugged into the phone (for example the little microphone that is included with the earbuds)? I have not found any built-in setting for the purpose. There seem to be lots of apps to use the phone as a voice recorder, but I have not found any way to send microphone output through the dock connector in real time.

Thanks for that helpful suggestion. Yes, my speaker has a 3.5 mm input jack, so I should be able to connect the headphone output of my Zoom H2 microphone/recorder to it with an adapter cable. Levels should be compatible.
It would still be nice to be able to plug the microphone into the top of the iPhone, and switch back and forth between voice and music without having to remove the phone from the dock.
I don't have the iPhone SDK, but I expect that it would be easy to route microphone input to dock output. The harder part would be getting the resulting free mini-app through Apple's approval process. Unless someone else who already has the SDK does it first, I may try.
