Iphone on pc - no outlook

I have to confess to being totally frustrated with my new iphone and am close to going back to my old way of doing things... (palm pilot, mobile phone and paper calendar)!
I have a pc, without Outlook. I have mobile me to help with my calendar deficiency - however I have been unable to get it to sync adequately with my contact information. It will sync with my windows address book which are all email addresses and not the combination of phone numbers, information etc that I want to use the iphone for. In addition it will change the contact information depending on the email address book I am currently using and not a combination of the two.
Will having Outlook (which I'm reluctant to spring for - I have word and excel) solve these issues? I have my doubts.
Sadie

It's taken me a while to figure out what it is doing!
Here's what is happening (I think). I have two email address books - with separate user identities within my Outlook Express program. It seems that if I have been using sadiebook1 - mobileme will update with that book (only email addresses of friends and family). If I've been using sadiebook2 (business email, addresses, phone numbers, notes, information etc)then that is where the update will come from ...
This results in my having only one set of contacts at one time (originally I though they had been lost). So, now I'm thinking I will need to somehow combine my address books - but am unsure of how to make sure mobile me reads the combined one (which I still have to work out how to do).
Anyone done this and can tell me how to solve the problem?

Using Outlook 2007 I want to receive emails on my iPhone 4 only when Outlook is NOT open on my computer, as when away from home or want to quickly check email when computer is not turned on. Either ALL emails come to my iPhone or none at all. Is the setting I need to change in Outlook or on the iPhone or is it somewhere else?  I used to have this setting but transferring Outlook to a new laptop somehow turned it off.

No. You really can't do that. Not easily at any rate. You would have to set them both up to use POP3, but even then there is no way to guarantee that the phone won't poll the server prior to your computer doing so, pulling down the message from the server.

  • How to sync iPhone/iPad contacts TO Outlook?

I am confused by the cavalier way the term "sync" is bandied about in the MS Outlook/Apple iTunes context.
I want to make my Outlook contacts look just like my iPhone contacts.  I.e., after a sync, I don't want any contact info in one device that's not in the other.
In the past, "sync" has meant to me "make them both the same."  But the mechanism whereby that occurs is not obvious in the context of iTunes and MS Office.  For instance, when iTunes is syncing, what happens if a contact's name is in both the PC and iPhone, but the email addresses are different?  Am I offered the opportunity to make a choice?  What happens if Outlook contains an entry that's not on the phone?  Will it end up on the iPhone? What happens if a contact is in the phone, but not in Outlook -  will it get created in Outlook?
I consider my phone the primary device for accumulating contact information. As a consequence, my Outlook contacts are woefully out of date vis-a-vis my iPhone's.  But I am sore afraid to engage the iTunes syncing, lest it somehow decide that what I want to do is replace the contacts on my iPhone with those from Outlook. I've seen too many comments elsewhere about contacts being lost wholesale, or duplicated wholesale.
Is there any definitive source for further detailed information on this subject?

Here is the way about how to transfer contacts from iPhone to Outlook:
Step 1: Connect the iPhone to the computer using the supplied USB cable and launch the iTunes application. iTunes displays your iPhone on the left panel under "Devices".
Step 2: Click your iPhone on the iTunes panel and click the "Info" tab. Click "Sync contacts with" and select "Outlook."
Step 3: Select "All Contacts" if you want to sync all the contacts from your iPhone to Outlook. If you want to select specific contacts, click "Selected groups" and place a check on the contacts you want to sync to Outlook.
Step 4: Click "Apply" to sync your iPhone contacts to Outlook. Click the "Eject" button on the right panel and disconnect your phone from the computer. Close iTunes.
Step 5: Launch Outlook and click the "Contacts" tab. You should see the imported iPhone contacts.

  • How can I get my iphone to synch with Outlook?  I do not want to use Icloud.

I am a realtor and have used Outlook for years, but am unable to get my iphone to synch with Outlook.  Does anyone have a solution?  I have been to the Apple store and have had more than one person working on it, to no avail.

Not sure what you've already tried, but sometimes you have to uninstall iTunes and all it's components as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925, then reinstall iTunes.  (This would be necessary if the Outlook plugin is missing or corrupt.)  You won't loose your iTunes library or media by doing this.

I  have a problem with the synchronisation of my iPhone and iPad with Outlook 2007 on my 64-bit Windows 7  PC. For several years,
I have had no problems with the synchronisation by cord connection and iTunes between these programmes. However, a few months ago I decided to use Mobile Me. However, there were problems with duplication of calendars and then “rogue events” – which could not be deleted – even if deleted on Outlook and on the iPhone (or both at the same time) – they would just reappear after the next synchronisation.  All other synchronisation areas (eg Contacts, Notes etc) work fine.
I have looked for help through the Apple Support Community and tried many things.  I have repaired my Outlook. I have repaired my .pst file in Windows. I have re-installed the latest version of iTunes on my PC. I have re-installed the firmware on my iPhone. I have tried many permutations on my iPhone. I have closed down all Mobile Me functions on the iPhone. I have spent upwards of 24 hours trying to solve this problem.
What am I left with? Outlook works seamlessly on my PC. My iPhone calendar now has no events from  my calendar, but does not synchronise through iTunes. Nor does it send events initiated on the iPhone to the Outlook. I am at the point of abandoning iPhones and iPads altogether.  I need to have a properly synchronising calendar on my phone.  Do you have any suggestions?

In the control panel goto the "Lenovo - Power Manager" and click the battery tab, there is a maintenance button in there that will let you change the charging profile for your battery.   (from memory, so exact wording may be off)
The lower the numbers you use there, the longer the battery *should* last.    These batteries degrade faster at higher charge levels, however storing them at too low of levels is also not good for them... I've read that 40% is optimal, but just not realistic if you use your computer.

  • How do i get contacts from iphone to merge with outlook contacts

how do i get contacts from iphone to merge with outlook contacts

If Outlook already has a munch of contacts, do I need to delete them all (all but 1 unique) to sync correctly?
I have and iPhone ith up to date contacts, and I have outlook with some of the same contacts with older info. When I sync, outlook is OK, but I get a lot of copies of the same contact on my iPhone. Now I'm not entirely sure which are the up-to-date contacts and which aren't (and there's hundred of contacts to go through).
...For future reference, is there a way to to send the iPhone contacts to Outlook without adding crap to my phone? Amidst the sync process I noticed and option for conflicting files and choose the "always use phone" but still wound up with a contact mess of mixed old and new on the phone.

  • Iphone not removing reoccuring Outlook Calender events! ARGH

    Help.
I've been syncing my iphone with my Outlook 2003 calendar all the time for months. I had a couple of re-occuring events that happened every week, those events have since expired, but the iphone g3 still thinks they are there and beeps at the event.
I checked the iphone calendar, and they are NOT there!? ***. I went back and deleted the entire event from my outlook, resynced, and the stupid ihpone still beeps and reminds me.
How do I delete this, it's obviously a bug in iphone.
    Thanks!!!

    Hello Erwination,
You can try resetting the sync history on your computer, thereby replacing the calendar data on the iPhone with a "fresh" copy of your Outlook data, by following the steps in this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692
Note: the Advanced settings in iTunes mentioned in the article will replace the calendar data on the iPhone with that from Outlook, so you will want to sync any events that are present on the iPhone but not in Outlook beforehand by syncing via iTunes.
If there are still calendar issues, you may want to follow the rest of the article as well as trying the steps here:

  • Syncing my iphone 4s with my outlook calendar

What settings do I need to get my Iphone 4S to sync Outlook Calendar to my laptop and vice versa?

Also make sure you are using the same iCloud account on your PC and your iPhone.  Go to Settings/iCloud on your iPhone and check the account email address.  Then check the iCloud account on your PC.  If you have a Windows PC, click on the iCloud icon in your system tray to see what icloud email account you are logged into.
I changed the email on my iPhone and. iPad, but forgot to change the email on my PC and my calendars wouldn't sync.  It finally dawned on me that I forgot to change the account on my PC.

  • How do I sync my Iphone-4 with MS Outlook 2007

I am running Windows XP Pro, SP 3, and woiuld like to sync my Iphone 4 with my outlook version. 2007, contacts. I woiuild like the option of ether overwriting from the phone tot he computer, or from the computer to the phone, or just exchange, and update from both (if that's possible).

You can do this through iTunes. If you connect your phone and click on it where it appears under Devices, then on the screen that appears, click on the Info tab. In here you have the option to Sync Contacts with a drop-down box to choose what program you want to sync with.
The first time you do it, it should give you the option of which source you want to overwrite or to merge. After that, by default it will overwrite the Outlook contacts with the iPhone contacts unless you scroll to the bottom of the Info page to the Advanced section and check Contacts to overwrite the phone.
