  • IPHONE-only need ITUNES to activate

Does anyone know how to get Apple to activate IPHONE after AT&T has completed their activation? Last night around 11:00pm my phone was activated with AT&T. They told me their part was done and now itunes had to "receive" this info. and then I could finish my activation. Will it do any good to take the IPHONE to an apple store, .....getting very frustrated - bought my phone Friday night and not able to use any portion of it. Is there a phone # for apple support, that someone is actually there?

    All you need is Wi-Fi

  • Itunes Library on iPhone 4S keeps disappearing on my iPhone only

I recently purchased the 64 GB iPhone 4S. All of my music is in iTunes on my Macbook Pro.  After I activated my Iphone, I synced it with the Itunes on my Macbook Pro, and I put all of my music and some of my podcasts onto my iPhone, about 37 GB worth of information.  Not certain if it makes a difference, but I have clicked the box that says to sync my Iphone over wifi, although it never works (I always get some sort of error, even though I use a secure wifi in my house), and I have my stuff backed up to the iCloud, although I have not really explored that function as much.  As far as the computer tells me, all of my software is up-to-date.
About one week ago, I plug in my earphones to listen to some music on my Iphone on my bus ride to work, and there was nothing listed in the entire library of the iPhone, no music, no podcasts.  When I got home, I plugged my Iphone into my MacBook Pro, and when I clicked on my iPhone icon on the side of the Itunes display, it indicated that all of the music/podcasts were on my Iphone.  It said that the 37 GB of information was there, even though I could not find it on my Iphone.  I tried turning my phone on and off, pressing the "sync" button on my computer multiple times, etc.  Each time I "synced" my Itunes, it said everything was ok, but I could not access any music on my Iphone.  Eventually, I think what I did was I unclicked the music and podcasts to be synced and synced it, so that the iPhone and the Itunes on my computer consistently said I had no music/podcasts on my Iphone, then I think I reclicked them and had to resync everything, which of course took alot of time.
Then, it happened again this morning.  So far I only did the above fix with the podcasts as I was rushing to work and did not have time to resync over 8000 songs.  Again, my iTunes on my computer is telling me that everything is synced and that everything is on my iphone, even though I see no music in my Iphone's music library.  I did notice last night, that my computer kept telling me that it could not sync over wifi with my phone (as I have said before, this has never worked for me), and that I should reformat my iPhone so that it was returned to its default settings.  I ignored this issue and, like I wrote above, when I awoke this morning, I had a nasty surprise.
I apologize if the solution is up here already, I searched for about an hour and could not find a question on all fours...but this has now happened two times and is not only irritating, but making me think there is actually some issue I should probably address.
    Thanks in advance.

It's happening to me too.  Various songs go missing from albums and now whole albums are disappearing. To get them back, I have physically attached said 4s to computer and opened iTunes and clicked on all of the artists who are missing and have hit the apply buttons. They then reappear.  But they go missing again later. Am about ready to call Apple to see if they have any suggestions. I thought if I didn't sync my phone, they'd stay on my phone but no such luck.

  • Between our family, the 5 of us we have 11 devices: 5 ipods, 1 ipad,3 itouches and 1 iphone but only 1 itunes acct. Having problems when we log in-anyway around setting up individual accts for each person?

Within our family, the 5 of us we have 11 devices: 5 ipods, 1 ipad, 3 itouches, and 1 iphone4 {+ a mac laptop} but only 1 itunes account. We are having problems logging into itunes. Friends have said our problem is either: you can only have 5 devices on 1 account or you have home sharing maxed out {we have the itunes loaded on 4 computers + my computer at work}. ... not sure how we can resolve this. Do I have to set each person up with an itunes account? Seems werid my kids under 12 having their own account. please advise.. with the populairty of apple devices, I would think others have this same problem???

jbrooker, I am having a similar issue to roaminggnome, we have 4 windows laptops, 2 iPhones, 5 ipods.
I have the iTunes account and the music Library on my laptop and this is used to sync to my iPhone and 4 iPods = 5 devices.
I have managed to share my library with my wifes laptop and she can access it when my PC is not on, she is also able to sync her iPhone to her laptop. She has her own iTunes account.
My son has an iPod and laptop but no iTunes account, his iPod is synced to my laptop and my iTunes account. But his laptop cannot download my iTunes Library he is getting a message saying that my iTunes account is synced to the maximum of 5 devices. Thus he can only see the library when my laptop is at home (and I take my Laptop to work etc).
Would this problem go away if my son has an iTunes account? He's only 11yo so I'm reluctant to set him up with one just yet.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Cheers.

  • HT204088 How how can I synch my ipod + iphone music to my new computer? I get the same error  "my ipod or iphone is synched with another itunes library. An Ipod can be synched with only one itunes library at a time. What would I like to do Erase and Synch

How can I synch my ipod & iphone music (purchased from itunes on my old laptop) to my new laptop? I keep getting the same message on my itunes on my new laptop: " The ipod/Iphone is synched with another itunes library. An ipod/iphone can be synched with only one itunes library at a time. What would you like to do - Erase and Synch or Transfer Purchases?" What do I do?
    A couple of other items:
    1) I am guessing Apple does not keep a history of all my music purchases? As I did not have my entire library backed-up anywhere, and relying on the music I have on my ipod and my iphone as my only source of itunes music....I have lost over 500 songs!!!
    2) I used to have an Apple account under another account name, and since have switched to a new account name. Is there anyway to find the history of purchases from my old Apple account name and transfer these over to my new account name and onto my new laptop?
I hope someone can help, I am having a very difficult time trying to obtain answers. Angie

The iphone/ipod is NOT a storage/backup device.  Not maintaining a backup copy is a big mistake.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone/ipod to your computer:
Authorize your computer for all accounts and then click  File>Transfer Purchases

  • I have just bought a new laptop, i am trying to sync my songs on my iphone to my itunes, but it says i can only sync with 1 itunes, any way round this?

iv just bought a new laptop, i am trying to sync my songs on my iphone to my itunes, but it says it can only be sync with 1 itunes, any way around this?

The iPhone like all iDevices is not a storage device, it is merely a mirror of the content in the library to which it is synced.
If you wish to sync to a new computer, the first step is to copy or move the iTunes media library from the old computer to the new computer.  This can be done via the network or by using an external hard drive.
Once the library has been moved, simply sync to the new computer.

  • When I sync my iphone 4S using iTunes it only syncs 8.5GB of music, not the entore library as specified.  Is there a capcity default limit of the amount of storage that can be used for music and if so how do I change it?

The only limit is that of the device. No restrictions on how much of it you can use for music. Is part of your music library unchecked?

  • An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time

I recently bought a MacBook Pro, and I figured it would be pretty simple to move my iPhone to sync with iTunes on the Mac from iTunes on my pc, afterall it is the same program and both are designed for the iPhone.
I have been successful in getting the Contacts and Calendar to sync, but the Music, Applications, Video and a few other things give me this message when I check the sync box:
"The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase the iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
Obviously, I don't want to erase everything. Actually, I don't care about Music, Videos, Podcasts or Ringtones as I don't have any, but I do care about Photos and Applications. Actually Photos I can reload too, but I don't want to loose the apps I have purchased with the iTunes App Store.
I even tried going back to the PC and unchecking the Sync boxes on it, hoping this might disassociate it from the phone, but now even on that PC I get the same message.
How do I disconnect phone from the old iTunes and be able to sync it to the new iTunes? This should be simple right?

I made an appointment with a Mac Genius and I will say that while it was better than getting to talk to India on a poor quality phone call it was just about as helpful. Sure she was cute and friendly, but I left without my issue resolved and was surprised that I didn't even get a followup from anyone asking about my experience (hence my venting here)
Anyway, I found a solution for my issue here: http://tinyfish.net/2008/07/18/how-to-sync-iphone-with-multiple-computers/
This is a real solution to the issue, and has the benefit that I can do this to as many machines as I need and sync at any of them instead of just one. Hopefully, Apple doesn't delete my response since it truly is the answer to the problem and others might be looking for the same solution.

  • HT1386 I had to reinstall Windows 7 on my PC, when I synced my iPhone to my PC only the iTunes music files moved back to PC, how do i get my non-iTunes music files back onto my PC?

So as i stated I reinstalled Windows 7 on my PC, wiping the harddrive in the process. I didn't copy my music files to a third device because I assumed I would be able to retrieve all my songs from my iPhone 4 when I resynced the devices. Unfortunately only my iTunes-purchased songs went back to my desktop. This leaves about 1400 songs that I ripped from CDs on my phone and I can't see how to get those songs from my iPhone to my desktop again. I would really like to not have to waste a day ripping CDs again. Can anyone help?

You need to restore them from the backup that you should have of your computer that you made before reinstalling Windows 7. The iPhone is not a backup device.

  • HT201263 iphone only shows logo for 13 seconds when connected to pc thats all it does however i connected to wall socket it goes up to connect to itunes but when i unplug it then it switches off

iphone only shows logo for 13 seconds when connected to pc thats all it does however i connected to wall socket, it goes up to connect to itunes but when i unplug it then it switches off.
this is coincidently after an ios update for iphone which i did just approx two days earlier which was suppused to fix battery issues?
also battery shows 100 percent full but as i explained if disconected from socket it switches off altogether.

Hopefully and most likely faulty battery. If you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

Normally you would restore the backup of the computer, but you say you don't have a backup of the computer. That is a shame. See this user hint to try and rebuild your library. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
