IPhone only rings for certain people

any way to get my iphone to only respond to certain people? i would like only one or 2 people to be able to make a sound on my phone at night, so when they call, it wakes me, and other sounds, general email and text, not to make a sound at night.
i can obviously put it on silent but then those one or 2 people where the sound is important, wont make a sound on my phone so wont wake me...

Call AT&T support (dial 611) from the phone. Maybe they can run some tests to your phone from their end.

Check your Do Not Disturb in Settings and make sure you don't have something enabled there.

IPhone hangs up on certain people ever time they call

Hi,
This is a very weird problem. My iPhone hangs up on certain people EVERY time they call, within about the first 45 seconds or so. It doesn't beep or make a dropped call sound, the screen just goes black and their call is no longer there.
I use my iphone for business and one particular very important client gets frustrated since my iphone drops his call every single time he calls me.
I have tried clearing their contact info and re-entering it and I have also completely reset/restored the phone to factory settings a few times.
Edit: I just wanted to add that this happens with about 5 numbers, and happens even if there is not a contact entry present.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it?

It is probably because you have switched off the notifications alerts.
Check in settings-notifications center-message and there select the alert sound.

It sounds like you have System Sounds muted. Either the switch on the side, or double tap the home button and swipe to the right, ICON will be on the far left. If the ICON is screen lock related, then it is the switch on the side.

hmmm.. When you go to settings>Messages>send and recieve> are you signed in? Or does it say "Use your appleid for imessage" ? If so , does signing out and signing back in fix the issue?

Create Support Message via Help - Limitation for certain people

Hi,
i try to configure my SolMan, so that only a couple of person can create a support message with Help -> Create Support Message.
I look for a role, but can't find anything to solve this issue. Does anyone now what I have to customize, that only people I allow can create a support message in that way?

1) When I don't create a business partner for those people, they can create messages, but then then the filed "message processor" would be empty in SolMan
2) which role do you mean? I tested with a test-user without any role - he can create support messages as well...

in itunes, with the iphone connected, select iphone under devices, click info tab, uncheck sync address book contacts. the dupes should disappear.

Tabular Form - Read only condition for certain users

Is it possible to make a select list field in a tabular form read-only to certain users? Here's the situation:
The tabular form lists the users who need to select "Approve" or "Reject" in that field (they are approving or rejecting an engineering change)
I want all of them to see the approval/rejection of their team, but only have access to edit the select list associated with their record.

You could use either "authorisations" tab or "conditional display" for the relevant column attribute.
Report Attributes->Column Attributes->authorisationsIt would be better to have some more detail about what you are trying to get (maybe a quick mock up of the form, for example) but, I can envision something along the lines of the following:
For each approval/rejection field:
1. Create an authorisation appropriate for access to to each approval/rejection field e.g. authorisation scheme "FOO"
2. In the relevant fields column attributes, set the authorisation to "FOO"
3. now create a read only "public" copy of the above field, using the "display as text (based on LOV does not save state)" - set the authorisation for this field as "{NOT FOO}"
(if you don't want to use authorisations, you could build an equivalent using "conditional display" instead, which is basically the same thing, except column specific)
The downside is of course that you're duplicating fields in your query, which creates a bit of redundancy. There may be better ways to achieve this (maybe you could make use of the APEX_ITEM api, for example) but this is fairly easy to set up IMO.

IPhone only allows for a very limited amount of iTunes tracks

OK Steve..I bet I know, because it happened to me.,,try this: It has to do with the AAC Encoder and bit rate at which you are importing songs into your ITunes.
Connect your IPod, and look at the Bit Rate. If it is 800 to over a thousand, your songs are taking up too much space; the bit rate should only be 128 to 160. A song imported at a bit rate of 1022 will take up around 33 MB, while that same song imported at a bit rate of 160 will only take up about 5 MB. If that is the case, you will have to import all your songs again using a lower bit rate, and then replace those high bit rate songs on your IPod, which is a pain, but I do not know any other way to do it.
This is how your change your bit rate that you import songs into your ITunes program from CD's:
1. Connect your IPod & click EDIT, then PREFERENCES.
2. Click the ADVANCED tab, then the IMPORTING tab.
3. I use the AAC Encoder, and, in the SETTING block, select CUSTOM.
4. Select 160 kbps, auto for the 2 boxes below, & say OK. You could, if you want use 'HIGH QUALITY 128 kbps' and that works fine, but I like 160...not much difference in how much room it takes up on your IPod..WHICH is where your problem lies, I suspect.
Spend some time replacing your songs, and you can put a ton of songs on your IPod. Hope this all makes sense,,Bobby in Jax

WD Caviar Green drives - Only good for certain uses!

I originally set up my Mac Pro as follows:
Bay 1 - Original 640GB Drive - MacOSX
Bay 2 - 1.5TB Caviar Green - RAID 1 striped with Bay 3
Bay 3 - 1.5TB Caviar Green - RAID 1 striped with Bay 2
Bay 4 - 2.0TB Caviar Green - Time Machine Backup
The RAID 1 array was mounted as the /User directory.
From the start there were annoying lags on a semi-regular basis. Even with only a few things open, like 1 instance each of Dreamweaver, Safari, and iTunes, I would get the spinning beach-ball of death for a few seconds every 30-45 seconds, and sometimes for as long as 10-20 seconds. Occasionally iTunes would actually cut out as it tried to play music.
Whenever these problems got bad I checked the Activity Monitor, did a 'top' in the terminal, even ran diagnostics a few times. No problems were ever obvious. Tons of available CPU time, tons of available RAM, no disk problems. Still, the system ran like a 386 with 640kb of RAM, not a 3.0Ghz Quad-core Nehalem with 12GB of RAM!
I started suspecting the disks as the culprit and looked into the Caviar Green drives a little further...
Western Digital lists the spindle speed as "Variable 5400-7200 RPM'. In fact, each drive is tested to determine the speed with the best performance/economy balance, and that speed is locked into the drive. This means that two otherwise identical Caviar Green drives can have two widely different spindle speeds. Put those two into a striped RAID array, and you get the problems I had.
Before reporting a bad computer to AppleCare I decided to confirm the drive theory by replacing the two Caviar Green drives in the RAID array with Caviar Black drives. Right now I have 4 instances of Safari, 2 Terminals, 2 Finder windows, Dreamweaver, Remote Desktop, Photoshop and iTunes running, and have seen zero glitches so far. The system is finally running like it should! The Caviar Green drive I have in bay 4 as my Time Machine backup is fine - this is actually a good application for these quieter, lower power drives. Just don't put them into a RAID array where you expect reasonable performance!
The two Green drives are going back to NewEgg tomorrow (minus a restocking fee because I am past the 30-day return window).
P.S., The Caviar Black drives are just fine for a software-based RAID 0 or RAID 1 array like this. WD makes the more expensive RE3 drives for RAID arrays, but the only difference is the amount of time the drive is allowed to take for error recovery. The Black drive could be down long enough to be dropped from an array (10 seconds or more), but the RE3 always comes back within 7 seconds after error recovery to prevent this. So you only benefit from the RE3 drives if you are running with a hardware RAID card, like you'd need for RAID 5.

If you're using AT&T, dial 611 from your phone and ask the representative to set it for you. They could set it up to 30 seconds before going to vioce mail.

My iPhone 4 rings for a text message but theres no message????

just as subject says, ill be watching tv or whatever and my phone goes off with the classic text message tone, i check my phone and theres no message. did this 4 times during the night and just randomly does it, my brother had this problem straight out of the box when he got it, and now since i did the new 4.0.1 update its been doing this. has anyone had this problem?

my messages are fine and have context. these have the same tone as a text message and when they come the phone doesnt even light up, it stays as a black screen. realy weird, and i have unlimited messaging, since the iphone 3g 2 years ago with the same number just a new phone.

I've had shockwave all along, tried reinstalling it, and that fixed quite a few of my problems.
